I'm sorry to ask for this, but I always wonder if I recognize well the different techniques performed. I'm asking that because I still have issues in remembering the names and as I'm learning to take my kyu exams. It would be very helpful to have the list of the techniques shown during the demonstration in the description. Thank you very much in advance for the help and sorry to give an adding job...
they arent waiting to be thrown this is a demonstration of technique and with Aikido there needs to be a level of compliance because if not you will get hurt.
+NordanFalko Demonstration of what, aikido? I agree that uke must cooperate not to get hurt but not waiting to be thrown. Wakasensei's technique would be much better if uke is not performing, attacking with intention to be thrown.
Milan Velickovic that is the thing with Ueshiba Aikido is that its not practical and lacks the power behind throws and doesnt teach to attack with intent I agree with you but at the same time this is what it is a demonstration.
+NordanFalko Wether it is practical or not in real situation it rather depends on state of mind than movements. If uke doesn't attack there is nothing to harmonize with. As a plain show it looks nice.
Not Practical? Seriously? Maybe you should redo your research. Traditional Aikido is taught from 8 attacks (forms), and 8 techniques for each attack, each with positive and negative movement, sansa and standing, with or with out sword. This is TRADITIONAL AIKIDO....ie it came from the Diato Ryu system, from the Takata brothers who were Samurai. A lot of the attacks are based on traditional Samurai arts, but they are completely practical to real life. Im a student of the Ellis Schools and this is considered a smooth demonstration of traditional form. Uki charging in with 100% intent gets 100% response, and therefore probably hurt....for a demonstration? leave that for grading lol
It's not choreographed but the person being thrown knows the technique and how to react to it with the proper fall. It's called Ukemi. He is doing ukemi. He is the uke. Choreographed to me means the entire routine was planned out and memorized beforehand by both people but I believe they are doing techniques in a random order.

of course the next Doshu shows complete control of the uke. He reminds me of his grandfather Kisshomaru Ueshiba. hope I spelled it right.
