Connor Juzefyk many others have thought that as well... It is effective and can be made so you feel the pain in very bad ways. Have you ever met someone that uses Aiki (internals) in their art??
LOL, all you bullshito believer its 2017 wake the fuck up. stop calling aikido a martial arts/self defense. it's not. it's like a theatrical drama lol, watch the video below for aikido VS reality ua-cam.com/video/TFdhoi3wRII/v-deo.html
let me explain to everyone who wonders about Aikido TWO THINGS: (I have been training in MMA, Boxing, Mauy-Thai, Judo and Krav_maga & and Aikido): ONE - each art is about something - to comment about a boxing match: they are just fake - lets see them against a Mauy-Thai kicker, makes no sense. To comment about a Judo Olympic fighter - he cant even dodge a punch is also as senseless. TWO: So let me tell you what Aikido IS about (its not about punching, or kicking, or even staying in good shape...). Aikido is about 5 things: 1 - spirituality (never mind that now). 2 - hands locks (go to an Aikido teacher and let him do a hand lock on you - it a very frightening experience as you get to feel totally helpless, unable to move, and in pain - even when your teacher is being gentle with you - such hand locks tern into hand breaking - if the other person doesnt move quickly enough with your hand-locks. Thats why they pre-fake the moves and jump - as if u do it for real you break the hand). 3 - leg positioning. (helped me SO MUCH in MMA, as positioning in Aikido is simple brilliant. 4 - Blending (how to move in accordance with your opponents moves, how to breath in accordance to how they breath, how to act and counter act in a way that uses their power not your....) again helped me so much in MMA. 5 - how to keep people on the ground using hand locks (when i had to jump in on the street to CONTAIN a guy that was fighting, he actually punched already three people - no - punching him in the face would have not been the right thing to do, how would it helped? would i ihave to punch him into a KO? where is the peace in that, and what if i end up being taken by the cops because i knocked him too hard? and i did not want to hold him down like in BBJ as that means I would have also been on the ground and maybe he had mates suddenly coming to jump on me? What should I do? My Aikido training was the best way! I held him in a ground Aikido lock - when I was still standing and ready if someone else tried to come, and he had no choice but to stay there. LOCKED, until the cops came). So i hope this explain it. Yes, Aikidio is as useless against punching in real life as boxing is useless against leg kicks in real life. And as Judo is useless against any punch in real life. if you want to be an all-round MMA style fighters, you have to learn FEW arts to be rounded. But Aikido IS a real art, and has a lot to teach that no other art has. SHould it be your only art if you want to be a fighter? Ofcoruse not. It has no punching. It even doesnt have physical conditioning. It is bulshit? For sure not. The skill sets it has to teach is REAL and can really make you into a far better fighter. Bless.
The whole argument is not whether you can defend yourself against a specific attack. The argument is that akido would not work in a fight. You can say that a muy thai fighter can’t defend against submissions, and that a boxer can’t defend against kicks. However, the offense of a boxer can with the fight just as the offense of a wrestler and muy Thai practitioner can win a fight. You don’t need to defend against a kick if you double someone and get in any sort of mount, and you don’t need to defend against a takedown of you are managing your distance with knees. I respect Aikido as an art, but the lack of offense and unrealistic defense is what drives the mma community away from aikido. I’m saying this as an amateur mma fighter, with a background in wrestling and kickboxing. I have done Krav Maga as well, but it’s only good for defense against weapons. I don’t think Aikdo is useless, just as I don’t think dancing is useless (dancing provides amazing balance and movement), but it’s not right to compare the inefectivness of aikido and boxing and calling them the same. I believe you will agree with me on that.
Aikido is meant solely for defense where most other fighting styles have a offense and defense. Never offense and never to seriously hurt an opponent just to render them so will not attack again. Using their momentum depending on their attack, based on all instinct and not to hurt them shows a lot of self control and discipline. I think all martial arts are great and have their strong points and beauty about them. A good defense is the best offense.
Andre Jennings Except that it doesn’t work, look at all these demonstrations, always some fool running up like an idiot looking for a hug, you think your “defense” would work against a real attacker? You think you can catch someone’s fist and do your little twisty thing? For your own good, I hope you don’t ever rely on Aikido in a real bad situation, you’ll get yourself messed up
It's been four years. Have you woken from your slumber yet? Aikido has a value but it's not an effective form of defence and training yourself to stand there and react to threats in ineffective and often suicidal ways (which Aikido certainly does) is more likely to get you killed than running away. Sadly, there's no getting away from the fact that beating someone to a bloody pulp and putting yourself through the crucible of sparring and controlled "fighting" is the only route to effective self defence. Go watch some of Lee Morrison's videos and ask yourself how you would deal with that coming at you.
Aikido absolutely does not work in the slightest… unless if you learn judo or wrestling first. Only then can you actually get the timing and positioning to work but like I said; if you ONLY do aikido you will never be able to use it.
@@TruOnyxfire no, it's not an imaginary combat technique. It's just not a combat technique. It's like saying that yoga is bad for fighting: it's not supposed to be good for fighting
@@Hankrecords It is if it is completely useless in a fight. Unless someone with a sword is coming at you, it's useless. Not many people running around with swords to attack people. You would have to allow the Aikido person to grab you for it to do anything at all. Don't see that in any fights much, either.
@@TruOnyxfire I said it is not a fighting technique. It's like you just said "poetry is useless in a fight" well yeah that's not what it's supposed to be useful for. Aikido is about mindfulness and control of one's self, and the main precept is that you should avoid fighting altogether because when you focus on winning a fight, you just end up with an enemy who will want revenge.
Wow. the precision of his movements is incredible. Such a deep internalization of the system to be able to move so quickly and maintain so much control.
Actually, the demonstration is perfect. Aikido is a lock/pressure point based martial art. The people here aren't cooperating just because they're paid to, they actually have to move that was to avoid having their wrists snapped.
A little boy once told his music teacher, "I don't like Mozart!" To which the teacher patiently replied, "That says more about you then about Mozart." Mozart wasn't insecure of his abilities, so he neither saught to impress his audiences with needless technical complexity like Salieri, nor did he go for heavy-handed dramatism like Wagner. Just clean and powerful music.
What is always missed in the conversation is when a hand is extended so the opponent will grab it, it then turns into a movement. I recall in my earlier swimming life-saving days, extending a hand so the drowning victim would naturally reach for it. From there it was a matter of deflecting, rotating and trapping from behind. I believe the same applies in many of these moves
I will not stick a hand out to strike like that. I will do a lot of fake attacks. I will do the real one ONLY after my opponent falls for my fake attack. If you try to catch my hand while I am doing my fake attack, you will have an opening that allows me to launch my real attack. That's exactly what boxers do. To wait for an open!
I used to pratice Aikido (I miss it so much) and watching this video made me wonder HOW did I use to fall and get up so quickly without getting exhausted!
because it's just a shifting of motion for the throw there is no oposing force + the falling technique is not a damaging one like a wheel you go back in the initial position! Oersonaly i wonder why i had done aikido for 18 years will not giving up because of nikyo...
@@ThePaulHealy sorry i didn't understood the "stumbling block" i think you was speaking of when i was speaking of nikyo, i don't "fear" nikyo i just HATE to be on the receiving of of this tech, i was more a "iriminage" guy and sankyo and yonkyo in second!
It's beautiful to watch. And technique of the doshu seems very clear. I could sense the aiki principle by watching this. I can say that now, i'm a jedi novice thanks to this démonstration !
@BloodySmartie1 Hello, he does exactly what we need in todays Aikido, a good and strong basic work like Yamada Shihan, this is very important for a Doshu and good for us all. Good basics is rare to find today, because most of the people in Aikido have very strange forms. Doshu has a powerful and clean Aikido.
Believe it or not, actually, yes! But not for the reason you're thinking of. The main reason they have such exaggerated reactions to what seems like minimal movements isn't magic, or pure theater to hype up the grandmaster in question- Aikido's actual techniques focus almost exclusively on joint locks, specifically hand locks in Aikido's case. They are making these exaggerated flips and rolls to make sure their hand doesn't get bent so far out of line that it breaks. It's a little similar to the 'death roll' technique from a gator/crocodile (where they bite into a target and roll in order to twist/rip off a target's limb), although obviously a Aikido practice session is very, very different in intent.
Im here just to read the comments from experts, scholars and wise practitioners that claimed several martial arts (aikido most of all) are uselles and mma is the only and true martial art, you guys entertain me a lot, thank you
I used to study TaeKwonDo and Hapkido.. and in open sparring.. I was never able to grab an opponent to do one of these aikido-like moves. Strikes come in too fast. But if someone somewhere up close unexpectedly grabs you.. the counter move will break their arm.. as my instructor demonstrated to the class on me many times. These moves feel like getting your hand or arm caught in some big rotating machinery... you don't stand a chance and they're very painful.
Anyone who has studied Aikido knows that it deals with idealized attacks. Most of what the attackers are doing are either chops or attempts to grab the Master. This is most obvious when he allows the two different attackers to grab his arms. It is also hard to see in most cases because the Master disrupts the attack when the attacker is most off balance, redirecting the energy so the student must roll or fall to avoid injury - which is also why the attacks are idealized; for safety. Anyone expecting sparring will be disappointed; Aikido is about resolution - not conflict.
The Uke are throwing or rolling themselves in order to avoid injury from the technique being applied by the nage. Learning that itself takes quite some time.
Just to finish bothering with the empty nobodies begging for human contact here: Aikido is, with Judo, often practiced by police officers, etc. in Japan, and they often use it in their work, when necessary. I had female cops as English students who talked about using basic techniques (shihonage and san-kyo and yon-kyo pins) to make arrests of male suspects. My American teacher was a Juvenile Offender guard who also had occasion to use it practically. I do not have instances where Aikido was used in barroom brawls against armed opponents to impress hot chicks, however. How sad and empty the timid lives of so many who commented here, in petty ignorance and without even wit, are. Goodbye.
@Youpi Cru Aikido is (or was, I'm not sure now) taught to the Tokyo riot police, as detailed in the book "Angry White Pajamas" by Robert Twigger. I've no idea why, as there are clearly more effective systems, though the style taught is Yoshinkan Aikido, which is a more direct and a harder style. I practiced Aikido for several years, as well as Karate and some Boxing. I can only say through experience that I would not rely on Aikido at all for defence. Maybe if you could get your hands on someone's wrist for long enough, you could apply something. It looks great when performed by experienced practitioners, but is mostly completely impractical.
For the naysayers about aikido and this demonstration…..please remember it’s a DEMONSTRATION and the idea is to show how a particular technique works and not to hurt the Uke. In real life the technique will be faster and hopefully ensure the attacker won’t want another technique used on them.
As an Aikido practitioner myself, I completely understand the skepticism surrounding Aikido; but I think everyone is missing the point. Why are you expecting to use 100% of what you've learned in the dojo outside in the street? We are human beings, we have brains; make good use of them and filter out the make-beliefs; find out what doesn't work and what works for you on the street and ADAPT if you're constantly getting into fights. If you're not experiencing any, be fucking grateful you haven't because why would you want to throw yourself into a street fight in the first place??? And let's be real here...if someone really wanted to take you down they wouldn't stand in front of you in broad daylight where you can SEE them...but hey, what do I know right? Everyone claims to have godlike reflexes anyway, I bet a knife or two coming from behind them would be easily blocked!
I've taken Aikido myself and I've often wondered how practical it is as self defense. The "going with the flow" to allow people to practice techniques often results in unrealistically low levels of resistance compared to that given by people actively opposing you or even simply not knowing what you're doing. What doesn't work for me can also be a subcategory of that which simply doesn't work. Also, people making real attacks usually don't simply rush at you and commit their entire bodies and mass to them in the way that some do while making kenjutsu attacks. While no system is perfect, and the practitioner, including their level of conditioning, is probably more important than the style, I think that you have to spend a lot of time in Aikido to make it effective as self defense compared to other styles that deal more directly with striking and strike defense. Even in this demo, against a master, the attacks are unrealistically flaccid.
The problem is these Aikidoka are taking the bait and saying aikido techniques work in a fight with a trained fighter. It does NOT!! Not unless you have a TERRIBLE opponent or can wear down an opponent with PUNCHES and KICKS! And a good grappler will never allow you to do those techniques on them. Another Aikidoka wouldn’t!! I studied aikido to 1st kyu and still love it and think it has practical application. But NOT in a dam ring fight! If I am wrong, please link the video or reference the fight that shows otherwise...
He states clearly in advance that his aim is to demonstrate basic techniques. He does precisely this in most exemplary style. His movements are clean, graceful, brief and precise. It's totally obvious (to me) that he is holding his speed and power in reserve during this demonstration (although his speed capabilities become more apparent when he deals with multiple attackers later on in the demo). With all due respect, I have to disagree totally with the views expressed by Mr Smartie,
The trouble with it though is that his opponents are doing exactly what he wants them too. And they assist him by adding jumps and get into vulnerable positions. This is not reality.
Amazing how many people don't get the basic difference between a demonstration and a real fight. I don't know much about this or any other martial art but it's obvious these arts have not gained world-wide acclaim for nothing...let's be respectful

¡Qué excelente vídeo! Muchas felicidades y sigan manteniendo viva esta cultura.
I have studied a lot of fighting forms, including aikido although I will say I only reached orange belt, I did have to use it once although my technique was far from perfect, it was enough to pusuade my attacker to get out of my sight
that's the basis of aikido for defence the "look you are stronger than me (physicaly) but you are the one on the ground so just leave if you don't want to be hurt!" there is multiple type of school and accademy in mind they was no "belt" only "kyu" then "dan" ( 10 kyu going from 10 to 1 then dan when you have the right to wear the hakama and are technicaly see as a master that go from first dan to 8th dan i'm 3rd dan!
Dear Grand Master Congratulation to neat techniques and a single view-of presentation. The grid of the mat helsp orientattion in dthe two-three or more direction cahnging durineg a single technique. It is the benefits of learningmutual cooperation, coordination and cultural behaviour while retaining the spirit of martial arts, all that without hurting anyone. Best regards, Paul, 66, retired instructor of Karate.
This is beautiful. I might want to try Aikido at some point to learn fancy ways to roll and break my fall, and I like the graceful dance-like aspect of it too. A lot of people are putting Aikido down for not being effective for self-defense. I agree that it’s not ideal for that; I wouldn’t do it for legitimate self-defense but rather to be able to move that way.
it's more complicated depending on the country we call the 2 diferent type of martial art differently so let's just translate the words in mine! they was the " external" martial art that need a good physical ability and the "internal" that need mostly technic the internal is longer to master than external but can be used whatever your age with the same efficiency aikido is the "internal" type so it need a very long training to be efficient but it's REALLY efficent when mastered mostly because there is no strengh use inside ( or very low) only "mastery"! in the begining you see him use "iriminage" that a powerfull throw ( with sankyo that was my speciality)!
@@thaeros sry but dont kid yourself. this is nothing more than a more elegant form of WWE. its a lot of body control and muscle memory but also mostly show, especially from the attacker. there is no amount of mastery that leads to aikido being effective for fighting or defending. it is inherently flawed in that the whole idea goes against physics and requires both people to work together to successfully complete a move.
His last name is Ueshiba. If the family of the master who introduced Aikido into this World changed the style, There will be no where else to find the original one.
Im so suprised to see such stupid and igniornant comments on this video... Welcome to the internet, where everyone is a martial art expert and fights on the street.
Well as someone who practices mma, I can vouch for all the people saying Aikido doesn’t work, it doesn’t, and I’ve been to an Aikido training, in the most humble way, it’s pathetic
Agreeing with earlier comments that this is obviously a technique to avoid attacking and only defend against an attacker it is better to see someone actually trying to punch/stab the defender to understand this. Naturally you're not going to learn this from a video but still it would foster more understanding when done like an actual attack. Good stuff though. Thumbs up.
I dont know much about Aikido. I trained under a high decorated Trainer for 3 months, than quit because i missed the action. Been training Boxing and Thaiboxing for over 15 years to that point. But i understand that much that you, Gillaume, did not understanding anything.
If you don't "tumble" when someone puts these kinds of holds on you, then your arm will break. Some of you need to work more on your common sense rather than your martial arts "expertise" lol
There should be a filter for comments from those who don't really 'get' what aikido is all about. The uke being thrown needs to be just as skillful as the doshu throwing him. To fall without injury and neither opponent harming the other...it is graceful and beautiful but believe me...hard work. Just enjoy watching it or go and try it before commenting in the negative.!
it is freedom of speech I think, as long they are not insulting. But on the other hand they are right, most Aikido in the world sucks, and it is an empty movement of egocentric esotherics idiots and more like dancing
Super! Я на себе прочувствовал как мастер рвёт мои суставы. На пределе, аккуратно, больно и без травм. У меня еще проблема, я от боли ржал. За это любили показывать новые приёмы на мне))))
If you focus not on the "master" but on the opponent, you will recognize that all of them basically doing nothing but running around and bringing themselves into a good position to be "thrown". Who on earth would attack like that?!
but when is that ever NOT the case in aikido? show me ONE realistic aikido demo..a competition...competition against other martial arts... ANYTHING closer to reality than this.
This would be great if there were any body actually trying to take the guy on. Just a bunch of well choreographed dancing at its finest. Aikido is a very advanced school of pratfalls and matt slapping. It is always fun to watch aikido vs. wrestling competitions because of the total absence of capacity to deal with real takedowns. I am sure the sensei would do well against other aikido practitioners though, since they only attack in the manner allowed by the exhibition.
Hahaha, yet another sycophant. Do you know what that means? My guess is you are looking it up on google right now. Your immediate resort to name calling tells me everything I need to know about you.
+Daniel M It is difficult to explain it to someone who has never experienced it. Yes, in the dojo we have had many come to Aikido from Judo. You reach a point in your training where you see it at a much higher level. Based on angles and geometry. All students who are in grappling arts find their way to Aikido. Not the other way around. Aikido is a Samurai art. Based on house raids by soldiers. They had to defend themselves quickly and move. They didn't have time to get on the ground and wear a shirt with their "Tapout" sponsor. They would've been killed. This was based on those scenarios for Samurai. They learned to take away swords, knifes, all kinds of quick throws based on necessity. As all arts it grew into a form. Because it was designed to work ALL THE TIME. Only in a situation of genuine attack. Not a dual in a ring, with a cage, with lights and music and hot girls and smooth talking announcers. No, this was "I have to end this quick, this guy is bigger, badder, and I have to snap his arm, break his neck, sever his tendons etc, as soon as I can", type of thing. You wouldn't understand because you think you are Chuck Lindell.
+Daniel M You have to look at this in another aspect.....what you seeing here is just the kihon (basics) so of course it's going to be choreographed. They;re not fighting because its a demonstration not a competition. And if they're were fighting well it won't be different than watching a jujutsu fight (not bjj but Japanese Jujutsu)...which is Aikido''s predecessor.
A fair statement. I have studied Aikido and therefore know that the demonstration is different from kumite. This does not answer the fact that the students and teachers of aikido do not train for realistic attacks. No one attacks in these ways in a real conflict, which makes Aikido practice ineffective against these attacks. Aikido has no answer for a leg kick followed by a left right left-hook combination. Nor does it have an answer to a medium quality charging double leg takedown. You can see this online by searching "Wrestler vs. Aikido". This is unfortunate, as it has some fundamentals which would be well suited to certain aspects of a real conflict, but due to institutionalized denial of its deficiencies, the art is now nothing more than an aesthetically pleasing dance.
Many japanese dojos is more focused around ki and connection than resistance, often you'll see them practising while barely even touching eachother because their connection has just become that good. Giving resistance as a uke is a good way for training, but it's not the only way to do aikido.
4:23 As soon as I saw this, I immediately recognized kenjitsu and iaido's influence on aikido. Just imagine the attacker holding a sword and you will see it.
Marbles McGee I know what it is (because I practice it) just wanna know what do you mean by "useless"....if that's too upsetting for you to answer sweetheart.
Hello, yes of course they attack with punch, kicks even knive, but for the basic is with some kind of handshake and then go with the punch, tanto, kicks, and grappling. I'm learning Aikido too, but i'm still newbie lol.
you are right, but you should see, that ''shaking your hand'' is basically the same movement as punching to your stomach and a punch to the stomach is nearly the same as a punch to your face. And there is the point, why most of the people do not believe into aikido, you have to be very good, to adopt the technics to a real punch. And you should never forget, that they can break the opponents arm easily while swirling them around. So if you imagine this, aikido can be very useful ;) At least that's my opinion. :D
lindo prinz I did some martial arts training in the past (and I expect I can do it again somewhere in the future), but I'm not a martial arts expert. BUT I think one doesn't need to be a martial arts expert to see that a punch to the stomach doesn't look like a handshake. It's not even close, I don't want sound like a moron. I even think that Aikido might have some really useful techniques (the question is: How much?). But it's just that judging by the demonstrations that one can easily find on the UA-cam, it seems that the "aggressors" are not really aggressive, using weird attacks that seems unlikely to se seen in a real stressful situation. Not to mention they are overreacting a lot, willingly throwing themselves to the ground. It looks like they are just dancing around, seriously.
It's just for levelling bro, after the handshake thing, you go to punch, kicks, tanto, katana, etc. and of course Aikido have weakness, aikido dont have technique when a woman getting rape. The basic is a handshake thing. I have my own experience using aikido (still not good doing it but i survive it because i'm not also an expert) when someone want to punch me in the face, i do a technique called Iriminage, i reflect his punch and attack his neck and he feel down, you can search it on youtube. So many great martial arts out there, but i think Aikido great for me, maybe after that i will learn Muay Thai or Taekwondo. What martial arts do you learn? Sorry for my bad english
Have you been thrown from a joint lock like that? Because I have, and believe me, the body would much rather do those "pretty gymnastics" than be broken. It's hard to realize unless it's happening to you, but that wrist lock at 4:43 would really make you roll like that. Also realize that part of aikido is learning how to take these falls without being hurt. A less willing participant would have his arms broken if he didn't roll with the techniques.
the art of chi. chi is very powerful and can help floor your enemy its not just using peoples force against them. THis and bajiquan are the perfect match;
Here is one thing my couzin thaught me about martial arts, wether aikido or any other form of martial arts it is that you have learned, the most important part of the technic is speed and proper momentum, without those two, you will not be able to build strength and power. And also just so you all should know aikido is different cause the helps you use your opponent's strength against then than using you own to take then down... For example if you think that the headlock technic came from jujitsu yes it did but it wasnt the first art that used the technic... It came from aikido...
This is like when you see a WWE match on tv, one wrestler throws the other one to the ropes, and the guy could do nothing other than runs to the ropes and runs back to the wrestler who threw him. This is as real as that. Ahem, pro wrestling is real, ahem... sure.
@Jerry Arpociple _ What do you mean by "real fight"? Like kicking in the nuts? It will only work if you can kick in the nuts...if you miss, an Aikido practitioner might break your wrists or finger without even you know what is happening.
They are NOT throwing themselves for him. He's using THEIR energy to throw them. If you watch aikido it looks simple, easy, plain and possibly even boring. But it is one of the hardest martial arts out there. Because it is unlike any other martial arts
You actually believe that. 😂. Are you actually capable of receiving information through sight like a normal person? WWE moves are sold better than this.
+Alissa Yuusei yes!!!!! Prior to doing aikido myself I would say it looks so simple and easy. But it isn't. Only the masters can make it look as if the uke is throwing themselves for him
HolyCow 13 yes and no :) most Aikidoka can‘t because they use Aikido as esoteric dance, but if you are a fighter some principles are quite good, see as example the first 3-4 movies of Steven Seagal
Sorry but he really really sucks. He's not putting an ounce of his hips into any of his movements. Sorry but Akito is a lost art, and likely a lost cause, as soon as O sensei died.
to all of you: here in the Video he is demonstrating a very clean basic, so dont mix it with free fighting or something else.

Your not doing akido then your probably just very strong
This aikido cannot be the same as that of Gozo Shioda's.
@Really Uh.
Very good explanation, thanks for sharing. My sifu taught us similar things from a Wing Chun and Tai Chi perspective.
This is the most civilized thread of comments under an aikido video that I have ever seen
Moriteru Ueshiba is a Japanese master of aikido. He is a grandson of Morihei Ueshiba, founder of aikido
Akido is like a Jedi art. It does not seem to seek aggression but instead stands against it. It is neither retreat nor attack.
Cedi Osman :)
And like the Jedi art, is completely imaginary as an actual combat technique.

It is not that difficult when the opponent is cooperative LOL I think everyone can imagine what would happen if someone attacked him for real...

Did you mean: That says more about you than about Mozart?
Americans can't spell or promounce THAN, only THEN.
I believe the same applies in many of these moves
marry me!

As a Dark Souls player... are they rolling to avoid damage?
Yes.
Aha yes mate! Praise the sun
Yeah
Yes, the rolling or any breakfall tries to spread the energy of hitting the ground out over more surface area and over a longer period of time.

That "if" stands a very narrow chance.

It looks great when performed by experienced practitioners, but is mostly completely impractical.
merci pour le partage de cette pratique par Sensei Ueshiba Moriteru c'est l'Aikido que l'on pratiquait à l'époque de Kobayashi Sensei merci beaucoup

Thank you, Moriteru-San! The spirit of the Master lives...

Thumbs up.

+Daniel M Any links to watch real aikido?
It’s so smooth it looks like he’s dancing
It more than looks like a dance. 😂
manipulating the body and the energy around it..an incredible discovery by Morihei Ueshiba.
who told you that?
Many japanese dojos is more focused around ki and connection than resistance, often you'll see them practising while barely even touching eachother because their connection has just become that good. Giving resistance as a uke is a good way for training, but it's not the only way to do aikido.
4:23 As soon as I saw this, I immediately recognized kenjitsu and iaido's influence on aikido. Just imagine the attacker holding a sword and you will see it.
Well good. I'll imagine myself hurtling a fireball too. That works about as well as this stuff does in the real world.

What were they trying to do?
Shaking the master's hand or something?
That's odd. Usually people attack with punches (at least), not with handshaking.
So if you imagine this, aikido can be very useful ;)
At least that's my opinion. :D
Marco Tobing It's your time and you do whatever you want with it. But I think there're more practical Martial Arts out there.
lindo prinz
I did some martial arts training in the past (and I expect I can do it again somewhere in the future), but I'm not a martial arts expert.
BUT I think one doesn't need to be a martial arts expert to see that a punch to the stomach doesn't look like a handshake. It's not even close,
I don't want sound like a moron. I even think that Aikido might have some really useful techniques (the question is: How much?). But it's just that judging by the demonstrations that one can easily find on the UA-cam, it seems that the "aggressors"
are not really aggressive, using weird attacks that seems unlikely to se seen in a real stressful situation.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
You take my hand and then I throw myself on the floor
no
Such a harmony in da movements 😵💫
Спорт красивый, но это какято ратстава и падстава, противники какбуттобы ему сами отдаются по сценарию!!!!....
Это фуфло шарлатанское)
People should be aware that all this looks easy and smooth because ,,attackers'' are cooperating . It is teamwork .
I like to call it ballroom dancing. Too much twirling for even stopping an attacker let alone fighting of an attacker.
Ryan Worsham I think a ballroom dancer could beat the shite out of an Aikido practitioner:/
the art of chi. chi is very powerful and can help floor your enemy its not just using peoples force against them. THis and bajiquan are the perfect match;
Невзебенный театр!!!!
Ahem, pro wrestling is real, ahem... sure.
Beautiful choreography.
Bullshido haha
remember the doshu is always in the dojo. every one of us can become that good if given the chance to practice every day non stop. blessings
It will not work in a real fight !!
@Jerry Arpociple _ What do you mean by "real fight"? Like kicking in the nuts? It will only work if you can kick in the nuts...if you miss, an Aikido practitioner might break your wrists or finger without even you know what is happening.
aikido is a beautiful art. its really cool in the movies
why do they throw themselves for him it looks ridiculous
They are NOT throwing themselves for him. He's using THEIR energy to throw them. If you watch aikido it looks simple, easy, plain and possibly even boring. But it is one of the hardest martial arts out there. Because it is unlike any other martial arts
You actually believe that. 😂. Are you actually capable of receiving information through sight like a normal person? WWE moves are sold better than this.
+WillJM81280 3.56 lol, just holding hands bruh.
Enough said.
if u never pratice aikido u will never believe it
+Alissa Yuusei yes!!!!! Prior to doing aikido myself I would say it looks so simple and easy. But it isn't. Only the masters can make it look as if the uke is throwing themselves for him
Can you use aikido against very agressive street fighters?
HolyCow 13 yes and no :) most Aikidoka can‘t because they use Aikido as esoteric dance, but if you are a fighter some principles are quite good, see as example the first 3-4 movies of Steven Seagal
Sorry but he really really sucks. He's not putting an ounce of his hips into any of his movements. Sorry but Akito is a lost art, and likely a lost cause, as soon as O sensei died.
Pt S Doesn’t matter what his hips do, at the end of the day, Aikido is Bullshido and he might as well have a tea party with his enemy
I learned how to fake a fall in futbol from aikido. Thanks aikido
This is more like an Aikidon't
But where is super-sensei grandmaster yokozuna 262nd dan aikido legend Steven Segal????
