    Fantastic list. I feel the same about Jurassic Park and Star Wars. Either one could be my #1. Both are amazing.

    Blowing up the Death Star in Data East Star Wars is one of the most satisfying shots you can make in pinball

    Correction: Data East’s Phantom pin has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway musical. It’s based on the book by Gaston Leroux, not the musical or any of the movies.

    Wonderful video!
    But just to clarify, The Phantom of the Opera was not based on the musical. It doesn’t feature any music or songs from the show. It’s actually based on the famous novel by Gaston Leroux. Practically all of the images on the playfield and back glass are based on characters and scenes from the book. And this, oddly enough, makes the pinball machine one of the most faithful adaptations of Leroux’s story.

    Another crown jewel of data east’s pinball machines is Star Trek 1991. Check it out, it’s really fun.

    When I was in college we had a game room with Last Action Hero, Tommy, Jurassic Park and Star Wars. And those were just the Data East tables. We also had Theater of Magic, Addams Family and Twilight Zone. And some others I can't remember. Good times. These days the nearest pinball game (that I know of) is a 30 minute drive away.

    Blew many a quarter on Jurassic Park back in the day, and I wasn't really all that into dinosaurs or the films at the time.
    When I got into virtual pinball, it was one of the first ones I looked for along with the Addams Family as it brought back good memories of playing in the local pizza parlor.
    Star Wars is definitely up there too.

    Awesome video as usual man! Did you happen to check out Maverick? Its based on the movie with Mel Gibson.

      I did. It's not a terrible machine, just found it a bit boring. I played it a long time ago, but outside the nostalgia I couldn't get into it.

      Im about to Get a "Maverick",and a Lot of People Trash this Machine. I dont know if its the Brown Color,the Slow down of the "Lauren Belle" Riverboat,or the Big Mel Gibson on the Backglass,but People just dont like it? I saw him say at the Beginning of the Video that some machines are better left in the Past. I LOVE the Gambling Aspect of it,and all the Drop Targets... its No Addams Family,But for Me....I Cant Wait for it to get here!!

      @@jasonhanlon5954 I have a Maverick and it's a great game. Tons of drop targets. Poker and Blackjack. Way underrated. Easy top 3 on this list. Hook is a horrible game and made list--LOL.

    Star wars is a great game, and another good one is guns and roses.

    Can't argue with the top 2, but Guns 'n Roses is better than the rest of this list. And personally, I would've included Time Machine and Bullwinkle over tables like Hook and Robocop.

      Former Williams composer Brian Schmidt (Black Knight 2000, Banzai Run, Swords of Fury) did the music for the majority of the games shown in this video; he didn’t do Robocop or Phantom.
      Schmidt invented the BSMT 2000 (Brian Schmidt’s Mouse Trap) sound chip that’s used in the majority of DE/Sega’s pinball games.

  • @bubbythebear6891

    I thought that Tales From the Crypt was kinda crap. I don't remember much, but the ramp was angled in a way that it went straight down the drain. The top right flipper also felt weak. However, the machine could have been not very well kept. Back to the Future was ok. I remember it kept playing the theme over and over. Now Phantom of the Opera was amazing! The music and the art are incredible! And the scream when you lose the ball is blood curdling!

    • @bubbythebear6891
      @bubbythebear6891 Рік тому

      Never mind! I played Tales From the Crypt just yesterday and it was great! The top right flipper was a little inconsistent, but it was much better than I remember.

    I loved the Data East Pinball machines… I realized on those particular pinball machines there was a hole underneath the machine that was only cover with a soft plastic mesh. So I’d cut the mesh and stick my hand up it and repeatedly pull down the little metal wire that gave a huge bonus for points when the pinball would touch it. It was near the flippers. I would throw a quarter in the game and start a game and before I even thrust the pinball I would stick my hand through the hole and start flicking that bonus wire and rack up and insane score. I’d have a score of roughly of 9 billion then I’d start playing it and lose very quickly. You’d get a free play once you got to a particular score and the game would make a particular sound.
    Anyways I completely destroyed the previous high score of the game at the bowling alley where where this Asian dude in his 40’s was the reigning champion with a previous high score of 800 million and he always wondered who the person was that smashed his score by so many points and he actually saw me at the machine playing it when i was playing it on my last ball and he couldn’t believe how I was that good. I was only 11 years old at the time. He never did realize how I was doing it. 😂

      I try to do this along with sharing my personal experience with the table, IP, art, design, and everything else. In order to keep these lists a reasonable length I always have to leave out some stuff out unfortunately. And yes, it being virtual pinball robs me of some of the authenticity. However, I'm lucky enough to have access to a decent chunk of the tables I review irl too.

      Wiggles' Arcade Nice list JPDE is a personal fave of mine too. I didn’t care for much pb back in the day but if it had something to do with Jurassic Park I was playing it or buying it! I don’t really like the new one from Stern.

    • @wigglesarcade8261
      @wigglesarcade8261  3 роки тому

      I think the new Stern table is pretty good. I haven't played it with a critical eye yet, but had fun with it while playing. I do have to say your mileage will vary depending on what version you play (Premium, Limited, standard). I mean, the rules are more or less the same, but I didn't enjoy the lessor version's lack of features. Annoys me how Stern pulls that shit.

    why does almost every virtual pinball machine you show has a HEAVY right tilt, it is so apparent in the gameplay, look at #10 Hook, the ball goes left and then unnaturally turns back right? No Simpsons? garbage video!

    Thumbs down for having minimal lighting. Good job not showing off what you tried to make a video about. Why even include video id you're that obsessed with your own voice?
