Best summer of my life and I still wish I could be perpetually stuck in! Your reaction at letter J (3:50) and the last note of the opener are what I was hoping them to be! What an age out year and what a group of people to experience it with! Miss you bloo #SixWords
@@claytonblak4419 I just saw I posted from my teaching acct and my twitch acct lol. Good luck to you man! Have a good attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn and they will really love to have you in the corps!
My first live drum corps experience. Watching them rehearse in Tulsa before the show that night. Has a special place in my heart. Although, seeing SCV that night changed me.
I’m a snare drummer and a huge coats fan, and this was my first time listening to this show. I have to say that exposed long triplet roll at 11:24-11:29 really took me by surprise!!! Looks like I need to take a look at what they where cookin up before 2012 when I got into DCI.
My band director marched this corps in this show so it’s really cool to watch this video with him and he’s like oh there I am! Also 2017 Madison Scouts “Last Man Standing” is definitely interesting
Interesting enough, Hans Zimmer's "160 BPM" (the first Piece heard) would later be performed by the Cadets the year after in which they won their 10th World Title.
If I experienced something as _"beautiful"_ and then stopped to think about what _made_ it beautiful, I would think in terms of what it _"had."_ Upon stopping to think about what makes _this_ show beautiful, I am thinking in terms of what it _doesn't_ "have." This show does _not have_ *PROPS!!* It's like if 10 years ago every single painter in the world began _only_ producing canvases that each had between 7 to 19 fist-sized rocks glued to their surfaces, and _then_ if I came upon a beautiful painting that was made _prior_ to 10 years ago, probably the first thing out of my month would be, "Oh wow! It doesn't have any _fucking_ rocks on it."
This show was the first I saw back in San Antonio, Texas. I have been a huge fan of Bloo ever since. I was only 15 years old and was amazed by them. Such a good introduction to this drum corps activity.
John, I know you're not talking specifically to me, but just know that this means a LOT to me. I marched bass 2 in this show, and I saw MY first DCI show in San Antonio in 2004, and it made me want to march ever since. I am so happy to know that you were amazed by the show. I love drum corps!
OH SNAP! This is one of my favorite Bluecoats shows ever! It’s not as popular, so I’m excited to see you reacting to it! 🥰 Edit: This is my favorite BLOOO uniform as well. Just super classy, clean, and perfect identity for them.
1992 Velvet Knights Magical Mystery Tour!!!! One of my favorite shows, they look like they had so much fun performing this show. You can watch it 100 times and still notice something new each time.
You need to watch the song the angels flight. It's the hero's last flight home. Also check out the movie battleship. That one tells how long the soldiers oath lasts.
The field drums you like are called "Multi-Tenor Drums" They're often called Quads, but really they usually include 5 or 6 drums these days, so "quad" is a bit of a misnomer. You can usually see the 5th and 6th drums, known as "Spocks", mounted inside the 4 main drums, closer to the player's body.
I know it's not technically drum corp but I really hope you check out some wgi shows. many fans of dci also love wgi. I would recommend broken City 2018 fall as somewhere to start 👍
Hi Courtney i was on UA-cam and this singer on UA-cam her name is Alyona Yarushina i think has an absolute beautiful voice so i thought in your spare time you would listen to her.
I have watched all your vids on dci!! They are so great, thank you for highlighting a little know activity. I would recommend 2000 Cavaliers and Cadets. These are the first shows I ever saw. They used to show finals on a public television broadcast here in the states and I happened to find it when I was in 8th grade before a band camp. The two corps tied that year for first place!
Delighted to see that you have enlarged the actual performance screen. Much appreciated. Also, the instrument you thought would be hard to play is no harder nor easier than a regular trumpet. The extra tubing just lowers the range and changes the tenor of the sound. Done this well, all instruments are hard to play, of course.
Btw the drums with the 4 drums are called quads, and the instruments making the deep sounds are called contras. Two of the most epic instruments in the DCI lineup :D And yes the crowd is BLOOOOOOO-ing. Because they're the Blue(bloo)coats, get it?
Courtney your observations about the props are largely correct. Everyone in the activity though that electronics was going to be the element that made competitive equality impossible, but it turns out that the props arms race was what made it truly inequitable. Most drum corps outside of the top 10 cannot afford to drive 4 semi trucks around loaded with only props all summer. It's simply too expensive. Always enjoyed this show and enjoyed your reaction to it. Nice work ma'am!
May I suggest Texas A&M Fighting Aggie Band. It's a military style band. It's very deep rooted in history and tradition. If you do happen to watch keep an eye on the tuba players turning.
Funny thing is after I made this comment I searched to watch a video of them and he reaction video popped up in my search. I thought of deleting this comment but decided to leave it in case someone reading comments might be interested.
Very nice precision and movement but if you wanna see a SHOW react to any HBCU band(FAMU, Jackson State, Grambling State etc) promise you won’t be disappointed
If you want to show a short but really fun band experience this is it. It's Southern U at a Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana. They play Michael Jackson's Torture, and follow this up with a band classic "Talkin out the side of your Neck" Most HBCU bands have their version of "Neck" that they play since the 1980s. When they play this the LSU fans go nuts! This song is played at their games and they sing along with their own little twist to the song that their student fans add in. Lol. A little detail you might notice is after Neck is completed being the professionals they are the band members turn around and all angrily glare at a member that came in late on the last song before counting him in for the last song which is a really fun New Orleans ditty. I think you will enjoy this. ua-cam.com/video/QCSNE_8guxA/v-deo.html
The two crowd favorite shows from '91 were Phantom Regiment (3rd place) & Santa Clara Vanguard (4th place). I know, I saw everyone several times. The Mid-West took 1st, 2nd, & 3rd that year; what an amazing season. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not putting Star's shown down that year. It was nothing short of spectacular.
Yo you should check out WGI/Indoor Percussion, it’s like DCI, but with just percussion and it’s just as good as all this stuff, it’s so amazing!!! Check out Pulse Percussion 2017, Broken City 2018/19, and RCC 2018
You must react to Pat Tillman. A former NFL player who stopped playing football to serve his country in the military. Might cry just a bit though but great story nevertheless.
