I feel like Kinetic Noise is one of the best examples of how electronics can be used in Drum Corps. Creating a massive soundscape like they did is just so unique.

History lesson. The Bluecoats first made finals in 1987. Throughout that season some started yelling Bloooo and it grew though out the season. By finals it had caught on. Bloooo has been the signature cheer every since.

Carolina Crown 2015 got second place this year and it is hands down one of the most epic shows in DCI history. You have to watch it soon.
This should've been Bloo's first win. Even with as good as Inferno was, this was the best show of 2015 and they honestly had the best run of the top 4 finals night! Crown had their best run on semis and no one came close to matching the energy this show had and still has through every viewing I've had of that years top 3. But alas the judges saw differently.
2015 was kinda an insane year. BD was just stupidly hard and stupidly clean, Crown had the audience drawn into the story, Bluecoats had such a unique energy, and Cadets brass was insane. Honestly, any of the top 4 could've won and I would've been fine with it.
It kind of comes down to captions. Barring Crown’s percussion that year, they’re better at brass and guard.

Kinetic Noise is such an incredible show! This show, along with Tilt, their 2014 production, are the 2 shows that really got me into DCI.
This is my favorite DCI show of all time, absolutely fantastic
also it's impossible to not cry listening to the ballad, i dont make the rules
i couldn't stop laughing at you "booing" lol, it's bloo with an L hahaha. That was still kinda cute though.
Never forget watching this show in theaters for the first time, it was by far my favorite show of 2015 🥺

They ended up in third place! Second place was Carolina Crown "Inferno", First was Blue Devils "Ink". There is a bit of contestation between who should have won that year. You should definitely check out the second place and first place performances and tell us what you think!!! I personally think Crown should have won!!!!

Well Ya know. Three GREAT SHOWS But Ink out did them. Sworn inferno was going to win, but between semi and final night, inferno was better on semi final night. The energy and performance level wasn't the same on final night, Ink rose from the ashes and out performed inferno. There ya go
Crown deserved second. That’s what a dirty drumline will do to a show with higher GE. Fact of the matter is Devs rose to the occasion while crown didn’t yet again. You want a championship your best show HAS to be the last one. Devils do that consistently. Personally I like inferno more but crowds aren’t the judges.
I am fairly tight with a few older Bluecoats alumni, and the rumor is that they nearly went bankrupt this year. I really hope you are able to see this live in person, but to be honest there are no guarantees. And the Bluecoats are probably one of the most financially stable organizations in DCI. Beyond worried am I.

The creativity of these bands never fails to amaze me. What a great performance. The amount of practice needed to achieve this level of precision of marching and music must be astounding. All I can say is bravo BLUE COATS.................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember seeing this show live in San Antonio. It was my first time ever seeing drum corps live and this show just almost brought tears to my eyes. Bluecoats 2015 will forever have a place in my heart 😤💙
Courtney normally the beginning section of the show is referred to as the opener and the end is the closer. Great as always 👍🏻
I remember seeing that show for the first time. It still gives me chills. I love the "Holey Moley" reaction! Side note, I attend a number of performances throughout the season and I can't tell you how many people turn to me and ask why we are "boooooing" the band. I don't mind explaining to them that no, we aren't boooing them. We are BLUEOOOOOOOOOOOOOING them. Thank you for reacting to this show Ms. Coulston.

This and Crown were my favorites that year. That opener was gold...and overall, the solid ensemble time and just the overall execution of that difficult material (as an ensemble) was awesome.

Having been there that night, this was by the far the most electric show put on by anyone. Personally, my favorite musical rep of any 2015 finalist! It's a shame that this night is more remembered for Crown finishing 2nd (a deserved 2nd by the way, but that continues to be an unpopular opinion I've held since that night). My biggest takeaway from that is that this corps was going to win a championship next year, especially considering they had rallied through the middle of the season onward to come within 0.715 of a championship on this night! And wouldn't you know it, I was right :) Keep the great content coming, Courtney! I absolutely love seeing the joy radiate from you watching all these great performances!

Boston Crusaders 2017, 2018, and/or 2019. All really good. Bluecoats 2018 is a lot of fun. Also you would really enjoy WGI as well. Look at Pride of Cincinnati " Summer of Love". I think you'll be hooked.

One of my favorite shows! Haven't heard it in a while! I would love to see a corp make a show with this same energy next season! I personally feel like this past year lacked that energy and even then, some of the shows were still jaw dropping. Especially Boston Crusaders and Santa Clara Vanguard in 2019
This to me this is Bloo’s best show. It typifies their sound. That ballad is so lush and quite simply beautiful.

I have to bring back this oldie but a goodie. I haven't heard "they're not booing, they're bloo-ing" in a minute. But yeah Court you had it right the first time. It's "Blooooo" not "booo" 😆
This show is worth multiple listens. Especially with good headphones.
“Kinetic noise” means sound in motion. Every phrase you will hear measures bouncing between left and right ears.
On the field they would space out and alternate which groups were playing certain measures at a time. It takes place the entire show. It is represented in headphones as well as it was live.
It’s like if there were 2 people, each standing on a different side of you and they read the sentence “I went to school” together but the one on the left read the 1st and 3rd words and the one on the right the other. Your left ear would hear “I... to...” your right ear would hear “...went...school” but your brain would stitch it all together in a weird way.
The best example is with the tubas in the opener in my opinion.
This show is the greatest show to listen to with headphones, sure they didn’t win that year, but they made an amazing piece of music that is infinitely replayable.
I think you would like santa clara Vanguard's "new era metropolis" show from 2001, but I can't find a link :(

I love your reactions to these so much!! There are a lot of AMAZING high school band programs you should check out to! Look for Leander Highschool band 2019 and 2016 at the grand nationals competition! It’s the highest level competition in the states! You’d be surprised what these kids can do!

I was there finals night in Indianapolis, I saw this show 3 times during the season.
A recording doesnt do justice to this show. Have you ever seen those 360 degree videos? They did that with sound. In the stadium they where making sounds come out different parts of the fields, they used live recordings to warp sound and live looping to double the size of their sound.

Best thing about 2015 was my beloved Devils coming from 4th in quarters to win it all finals night. It was BDs first come from behind victory. The little girl in that show, ten year old Clara (now 15 years old), i personally believe she carried BD to that championship. She brought the whole show together. And of course we can't forget all the BD haters who gave me alot of salt for my french fries that night lol. Loved it. Cause regarding BD winning it all, there isn't a damn thing they can do about it! DO IT UP DEVILS!!!!

Thank you for watching the show! I love all the corps, but year after year, the Bluecoats bring by far the most innovative and emotional shows. Every year they push drum corps to a new creative dimension. I just love watching your reactions. And I’m sure the performers and staff from all the corps value your appreciation. Shit, check out Phantom Regiment's 2007 show, On Air. DCI's got it on soundcloud but the only videos around are rehearsals and the closer during finals, unless there's a dvd or something somewhere.

Love me some Bluecoats!!!!!! I think Crown that year was hosed and the Bluecoats as well. I wouldnt have placed the BD higher than 5th, but I grade much higher for better general effect. Never a BD strong point although their shows are clean and near perfect.
There was a point during the performance that one of the color guard members had to kinda get out of the way of one of the field judges. I don't know how it works in DCI (I was only a member of a marching band as a high school freshman), but I would think that it would be similar to football or other sports where if an official gets in the way, you just plow right thru them, because it's supposed to be their job to stay out of your way and not the other way around.
