Fun fact, please read because this is such an interesting story: Did you know that Japan and tiny Montenegro had a 100-year war? On paper, at least. When Russia and Japan went to war in 1904, Montenegro, as Russia's ally, declared war on Japan. Rumor has it the Japanese were not able to locate Montenegro on a map, and they gave up on invading the country. Basically, Montenegro provided one unit to be placed under the command of Russia. The tradition was that one person - the bravest on both sides (Russia and Japan) had to fight his counterpart. Russians were silent, and this huge, tall guy volunteered to fight for Russia. His name was Alexander Lexa Saichich, he was a Serb from Montenegro, afraid of no one. He beat the Japanese warrior... When the peace was signed between Russia and Japan, somehow everyone forgot that Montenegro and Japan were - officially, on paper - still at war. And so that remained for the next hundred years. In 2006, when Montenegro became independent from Yugoslavia/the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, Akiko Yamanaka came to Montenegro. The two countries finally ended a war that lasted for 102 years and established full diplomatic relations. Amazing story from Balkan history.

Ossetians did not migrate from Iran. Ossetians are linguistic descendants of Alans - steppe-nomadic ethnic group who originally lived in what is now Russia and Ukraine. Alans were relatives (descendants?) of Scythians and Sarmatians and in the 1st millenia they migrated to the south and settled Northern Caucasus where they mixed with Caucasian peoples. Saying "Ossetians migrated from Iran" is the same thing as saying "Italians migrated from Romania". Alan language (as well as its descendants including Ossetian) belongs to Iranian language branch because it is one of the descendants of Proto-Iranic language which was spoken very far away from the territory of modern Iran. Some of Iranic tribes settled Central Asia and later Middle East where Ancient Persian civilisation was born. Some of them (like Alans) remained in what is now Russia and Ukraine and later settled other European territories and Caucasus. It's interesting that the map you showed on 6:57 is pretty accurate but what you said is totally contradictory to that.

I’m loving the new videos you’ve been putting out since finishing the countries.
Don't sound negative 😞 15:35
love your t-shirt, thanks for recognizing Bulgaria
3:00 no they dont call themselves as "Republic of Northern Cyprus", it is "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus"
doesn't matter what they call themselves. Is just the occupied part of Cyprus by turkey army since 1974.

Hey Barbs! The Bulgaria T-shirt looks good on you! People still don't know that Cyrillic is not made by Russians ^^
Thanks you Barbry, you and the Geography Now team are amazing. Only after travelling 144 countries did I discover your channel. It’s a must before travelling to new countries & so enjoyable to start making my way through the rest. You guys are always relevant please keep doing what you do 😊👏🏻
Fun Fact: Sun Yat Sen is revered by both Chinas, While see a secondary to Mao in the PRC, Sun is still seen as one of the fathers of the nation.
Sun Yat-sen is truly a legend.
Truly the person of all time
The t-shirt ❤❤❤❤ Thank you Barb ❤❤❤
Love your shirt.
You missed Bougainville!! Please make a video about them! They’re already an autonomous region of Papua New Guinea but will likely be fully independent in the coming years as their people voted for independence.
It doesn't exist yet
13:51 that's something you don't usually learn in schools
Can you do all of the oceans and seas? I think it would be very interesting to know more about them
0:30 And then you did?
😂😂
Great show. Good sense of humor. Thanks.
Now do the micronations with limited recognition. Sealand!

The vibe of this video is so off. :( I hope you're okay, Barbs. Pulling for you.
Yea, clearly. And so few actually notice it because he`s trying to hide it as "jokes" which i can`t find funny seeing there is a real issue behind.
maybe it's living in LA it is pretty expensive his house did get robbed few months back
Hi Paul. Please keep your channel going! Love it! Have you done one regarding people, languages, and cultures above the North Atlantic Circle yet? Or how the world has carved up Antarctica as a continent?
can you imagine if each state in the usa were sovereign countries but some might not recognize others, obvious example probably being california and texas
All Americans in 49 states should stop recognizing Missouri. No reason, other than the fact it would be funny.
@pelicanbowling ill be in the cold ground before I recognize Missouri! 🤣
Another great video Barbs! Will always love this channel!
It's interesting that the map you showed on 6:57 is pretty accurate but what you said is totally contradictory to that.
forsooth
