A fantastic review! The best one so far for fans of the indies like us. It's truly an incredible watch by a master watchmaker. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and this piece Marko!
It's not easy what you do. Keep it going, always strive for improvement. I think your channel is growing in quality. The video was great, I actually have not seen anyone show case a Kari watch in this much detail before, honestly. Wish you all the best.
Hey, I really appreciate all the good vibes and nice comments! Doing my best to bring new watches on UA-cam and show them in as much detail as I can. :) Glad you like it and thanks for stopping by! More to come :)
I have my engine turned, multiple patterned Salmon Vingt-8 on right now... My fav watch, a masterpiece. My fav watchmaker! thanks for the video! Enjoyed- Subscribed
I do love the brand and there watches a lot , to own one would be a dream come true imho . This version is so so beautiful 😍. That rose gold and brown dial is stunning. Another amazing review and such a joy to watch my friend 🤗. I see your bringing another grail to the table next time 😱. Can’t wait to see that RG LO 👌🏻😍
Great video! Keep them nice watches comming. I love guilloche dials. First time I saw one was on my grandfathers Breguet when I was about 9 Years old. Now I make custom watches. And I want to learn how to use a rose engine lathe so I can make these amazing decorations on dials and on movements. But it will take me at least a few years to make something close to a Voutilainen dial xD.
Hey Alex, thank you for the kind words! Well Breguet and Guilloche is a great way to start. 😁 Hope u succeed and show us what u created down the line. 👍😊
The rose gold with brown dial is a beautiful combination. I have the same watch with blue dial and white gold case. It came in the same ebony case you showed. I loved your presentation of the watch. Your passion comes pouring through.
That rose gold chocolate dial combo man... easily my all time favourite Kari piece! A real dream. As for next times watch..I want to say Romain Gauthier for the seconds dial and exposed escapement but I can't identify the left part of the picture.
One more great review from you, Marco! Great work! And that piece does suit your blazer well, how long does it take for you to pick up the clothes that fit with that watch? Haha. For the escapement, you mean it got two escape wheel, which both driven by the fourth wheel, which function to have more direct impulse from the mainspring to the balance spring without losing much energy caused by the drag and friction in the Swiss lever escapement. It also got less of a surface point which effectively need no lubrication in the escapement thus prolong the life of the escapement itself. It's called natural escapement (échappement naturel). Escapement is the region of which the energy from the mainspring is released (hence the name) into the counting/regulator region of the watch, in which the part of the escapement in general includes escape wheel(its pinion is not), the pallet fork and finally the roller on the balance wheel. Overall, very fine watch! 😄 Next one would be Romain Gauthier Logical One isn't it?
Hey Jeviar. So regarding outfits, I just choose whatever I see fit and sometimes it happens to work. Regarding the escapement, very well said! It's more complicated than your usual escapement that's why I also linked it up in the description for the viewers to research upon. Regarding the next watch, my grail RG is coming up yes :)
I m re watching this video. I wonder what is the cost to this beautiful watch? In fact I m currently looking to purchase my first high end timepiece and has narrowed to either FP Journe or Grönefeld. I had a 2nd thought after re watching this video. I m keen to hear your opinion Marko. Thank you
Well you can´t go wrong with either of them. Personally I´d go with Grönefeld because I like their movement decoration and design but each brand that you mentioned has it´s charm. I advise you to go see them all in person and really it also depends on your budget/spending power. This Kari Voutilainen watch was sold as EsperLuxe for I think around 70k USD when the video went live. Here:www.esperluxe.com/shop-online/voutilainen-watches-vingt-8-chocolate

Beautiful watch, the guilloche is particularly well made. Not sure where this stands compare to Breguet who is known for the Guilloché Dial. It would be great if you could mention the price range. Thanks for sharing.
@@microbakery9085 In my opinion better hand finishing, more unique so smaller production numbers and Breguet I think compared to these independents lost it's touch or "why" in the process of the Swatch Group. I'd buy a Breguet tourb or old chrono but the new models and pricing they have just can't compete with independent watchmakers. But as always at the end of the day buy what makes you happy. :)
If I had to choose I’d take complications over finishing/hand made but if you can afford both then go for it. Still, nearly 100k for a time-only watch is hard to stomach.
Nice looking watches, and I used to own one, but I feel like I never resonated with it. It felt unsubstantial on the wrist. Quality is great and it should be for the price (time only for 100k USD), but just didn't do it for me. I bought a gronefeld remontoire instead and love everything about it.
Nearly perfect but I find myself scratching my head about the Roman numerals not adhering to the radial/circular relief line. It just doesn't look right. I am kind of flabbergasted that he would choose to execute the Roman numerals in this way..
The guilloche machine is used by hand from the watchmaker and not programmed by a computer. That's what "hand-made" meant for this watch. Nobody makes guilloche literally by hand.
Engine Turned- means an old-world machine--no electric power the machine is hand-cranked, slowly to inscribe the pattern on the dial. it is an art, not a cnc machine nor stamped
Are you a fan of guilloche (engine turned)?
Three patterns in one Kari dial for the win!
Absolutely I am!

Well said! Well Breguet has much less hand finishing, different escapement and more industrialised approach.
Absolutely stunning.
Wondering who’s better if compared to Breguet at same price range
Voutilainen
Thank you for the reply. Would you state the top 3 reasons why?

Exactly 👍

Safe to say Kari is not a master watchmaker.
Clearly a Grandmaster.

How does it compare to Benzinger?
It doesn't in my opinion. The Kari Voutilainen is superior in finishing and in-house engineering...
Yes, the best.
Strives to make everything in house, too.

I like the fact that he uses the Roman numerals correctly. Such as the number IV instead of IIII.

the hand made in white is meh
Puts it on another level since "swiss made" isn't to Kari's standards.
@@SwissWatchGang yes, I understand, just it being white is meh :-)
@@emonty62 yes, I get what u mean. Would be nice in "gold" maybe or something more subtle. But I think the customer ordered all the specs like this.
No he is the best movement finishing … his cases are not even better than Breguet.
I highly doubt the dial motive is hand made... Yes it is hand-drawn on paper, but the dial is made by machine.
