I feel a bit overwhelmed seeing the amount of work it takes to produce 1 vautilainen watch......just wow. This level of quality is amazing. Honestly, to put a price tag on these beautiful pieces is kind of an insult for they are priceless. Thank you for this video.
Amazing, when you see the amount of machinery and man hours it takes to make just 50 watches a year, then you realize how special these time pieces are. Another great video. Thank you!
It’s a joy to see this beautifull, skillfull craftsmanship. It’s something as an artisan you do by yourself, you are in a creative bubble, totally lost in your work, it’s not for everybody, it’s so special. I have the highest adoration for these people, creating all those components by hand with so much dedication.
I absolutely loved it as much as you did. It is people and places like this that inspire me to dedicate my life to the Horological Arts. Please ask Mr. Voutilainin if he needs an apprentice. I would be proud to sweep the floor of that workshop! And once more "Viva Watchmaking"
A revealing discovery for me, fell in love with the dial making +finish. Truly exclusive brand, hence the price I guess... Keep teaching us why and how are these crafts men and women so precious. Best, Benoit
Spent my working life machining small parts, including on CNC lathes made by Citizen, and those Haas lathes, as here. I really enjoy seeing this, from the ol' rocking chair. These parts are for young people with good eyes and lots of patience.
Totaly awestruck. Once again by using your knowledge you have given us insight to some of the lessor known but wow wow extremes of outstanding watchmaking at it's peak. Each watch should be in a museum of art. Those shots in the dial-making area OMG. Thank you, its surely one of your best videos.
Excellent educational video MAD & team. Great 👍 job Kari & team for bringing the best in high Horology. Hope to see other independents in future videos.
Thanks, Marc for the great video, Keri is a watch-making wizard and a true gentleman. I had the pleasure of seeing his watch from this Basel, and talk to him about it and about his design process.
Wow wow wow... This is just unbelievable content. Fascinating on so many levels, the contrast between the HAAS CNC machines (Kari would be a cool F1 sponsor lol), to the engine turning machines is incredible. My favourite thing about Voutilainen was that he released a chronograph as his first model I think, which are surprisingly rare in haute horology. Thank you for the amazing work!
With so much content around now, there is nothing original anymore in horology, IMHO. Nothing for seasoned WIS's to be able to learn something new. This was the first time in ages I felt I was seeing something I hadn't before, even though I have been lucky enough to handle a KV in the flesh. This was a superb video, and the first time I have seen a video of KV's 'factory'. The pinion piece on its own made it all worth it!!! One dial design of his that I have found interesting is the 'diminishing squares' or chessboard where the squares are thinner towards the end. He shows that in this video, and the calculations used to make sure a ratio is kept. Thank you!
Taking a quick moment to say congrats to Marc Andre and the people at TheWatches.Tv I’ll never be able to afford most of the watches featured in this channel; (I probably wouldn’t even if could) yet, videos like this got me totally hooked on the art of watchmaking... (I became a bit obsessed really...) Most of what i read/watch in my free time is in someway related to the industry. You guys are opening an entire new world to me. I can’t even estimate the long-term impact of TheWatches.TV (and other similar channels) in the watchmaking industry. Going forward, channels like this will likely prove to be the single most crucial platform for brands to connect with younger audiences (and ensure the future relevance of the industry.) In my humble opinion, as younger consumers continue to gravitate toward an “experience based economy,” channels like this are the industry’s best bet in conveying the message that a well-crafted watch IS an experience. What you guys do, is truly priceless for the industry. Again, congratulations to everyone involved in the making of this channel. (And thanks for introducing me to this world) Best wishes.
He has a very traditional look to his watches despite the technology, I guess they are all the same in that regard; a blend of traditional and modern. Nice walk through again. Are you still planning to do the follow up video of the Greubel Forsey hand made watch? Still some editing to do perhaps...
Those impressive engraving lienhard lathes. I had to pause and inspect the compounded mechanical knowledge that went into the design and manufacture of those manual machines. The careful transfer of rotation into horizontal movement.
I mean, he was the teacher on wostep at the restoration department. One of his student is now at omega technical support which taught me coaxial movements once at our office.
I hadn't heard of Finnish watchmakers before, but being a Finn I can see how the only thing one would end up doing would be something like this. Well done Kari!
Thanks a lot and for this visit I had to wear my MB&F LM1, a watch for which Kari Voutilainen contributed significantly in terms of movement architecture. All the best to you
I think there's less sophisticated oncology clinics than Voutilainen's watch factory. To be honest, that doesn't seem like a very warm environment, a bit too clinical, but they make a fine watch.
So, my question is, how can they afford such machines making such a small amount of watches per year? And I know their watches are not cheap, but.... Mr. Voutilaninen must have been a rich man previous to starting his business.

Yes, indeed pieces of art and price can be in a way irrelevant or let’s say very subjective
Bigricky06 it's Voutilainen, from Finland ;-)

That’s so nice of you, means a lot to us 🙏🙏🙏
Wow just wow 😮 really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing Marc 👌👏
Love doing those walkthroughs!!! Thanks for the comment
Great walkthrough! Once I have enough money I think I'll get a watch from Voutilainen rather than a car, it is supreme craftsmanship.
Nice thought 👍👍
Beautiful dials....😍😍😍.......👌
Absolutely amazing, I will watch this episode a few times 👍👍👍
Wunderbar

Great Breguet Style in a personal way 🙌🏻 Bravo Voutilainen

Very welcome, a pleasure to do this, thanks for watching

Fantastic walk through of Kari's facility. Thank you for these very insightful videos.

Thanks a lot 👍👍🙏🙏
Amazing walkthrough!!!
Amazing episode Marc, loved it!!

Lovely genius ❤
Thank you for this
Kari Voutilainen is a no more than half dozen of top class creators in fine watchmaking.
Great video!!!!!
Lovely video.....👌🏻
Many thanks 🙏

One day... I shall sit down and design it personally with Kari! :P
I hadn't heard of Finnish watchmakers before, but being a Finn I can see how the only thing one would end up doing would be something like this. Well done Kari!
He doesn't even sound Finnish. I guess that's what twenty years of only speaking French does...
thank you, the costing of parts must be major headach
I think it would be cool to see a walkthrough of Jacob & Co., and see how they put together the Astronomia Sky.
I could watch this for hours. Thank you so much for another great video.
Marc, may I ask what watch you are wearing during this walkthrough?
Thanks a lot and for this visit I had to wear my MB&F LM1, a watch for which Kari Voutilainen contributed significantly in terms of movement architecture. All the best to you
Who makes these ultra-precise CNC machines?
These were Haas machines, american company.
Magnifico
Cool
Yes, but can he do a stainless steel integrated bracelet?
😂😂
they stamp "hand made" on the dials and not "swiss made"?
🇫🇮
Does this channel belong to you only?
Indeed ;)
I think there's less sophisticated oncology clinics than Voutilainen's watch factory. To be honest, that doesn't seem like a very warm environment, a bit too clinical, but they make a fine watch.

Does Kari even produce watches below $50k?
Another great walk through video that will hopefully end the stupid ‘why does your watch cost so much’ question!🙄😅👍🏻
Very good point 😉👍
We have haas cncs in our shop. If haas cncs r good enough for Kari they are good enough for me
And there you go ;)
Da guilloche god

No, he’s not rich originally.
Financing! Machinery can be financed and lenders consider it a hard asset
