  • Are you curious how to make miniature hammers? Well in this video watch as I'm forging Thor's Hammer Pendant (or a similar variation at least!)
I had a lot of fun forging this miniature hammer. In the past I made a miniature hammer and anvil set, which makes for a neat conversation piece. A piece such as this dwarf miniature hammer almost seems like a toy, when it's so small in comparison to a standard sized hammer.
My customer requested that I make a Thor hammer pendant in celebration of her anniversary. She wanted to give the Thor's hammer pendant necklace to her husband.
(As one of my subscribers mentioned, it is also known as "mjolnir pendant". Apparently a mjolnir thor hammer or pendant is an "in" thing! So I hope you liked watching this mjolnir hammer video :)
In the future i plan on having a video on how to forge a hammer. I frequently forge hammers for myself and customers, so I figured a video on how to forge a hammer head might be appreciated by my customers.
Have you forged thor's hammer before? Or what about forging mini weapons? Do you do mini forging of any sort? If you do, I'd love to hear how you go about forging mini project.
Thanks for watching this video on a mini forging hammer. Forging thor's hammer pendant was fun, and if you make one, I think you'll like it too! If you're looking for blacksmithing projects for beginners, this might just be the one for you!

Hey I love making these things and they are so much gun to show off. I found that most people use them as keychains when I do the 2 1/2 to 3 inch ones but if you make a smaller 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch one they ware them as pendants.

there is a simpler way to do this to get similar results. basically using a 3/8" nail header, forge down the end of a bar square so it fits in the nail header, then taka a good bit of steel past that, put her in the nail header, and upset it down, that then forming the head of the hammer, then you can take it out of the header and refine the shape, put back in header and upset some more, refine, and your good. hope that made some sense.

Hey Roy - Thank you. l really enjoy watching your videos. You are inspirational and a gifted teacher. Your message is exceptional. I’m a 68 year old beginner blacksmith who has returned to his avocation after 15 years. I don’t have a lot of experience. This may be a dumb( ? ) question, but why doesn’t the shaft move in the hammerhead? Does the force of flattening the top of the shaft against the hammerhead expand the steel enough to cause it to be immovable? I know you posted this a few years ago but I might as well ask. Bless you bud!

If you ground of the extra metal on top of the head from the handle being peened over, would it still hold tight?

      Yes

@@ChristCenteredIronworks thanks for getting back! I assume it would hold from using a drift to make the hole as ghe drift is tapered. If i used a drill press it might not? Not sure how the metal mashing works, just getting into this.

Hey there, how did you go about starting your shop? I've got the basic tools and forge, but setting up a place to work is my current issue.
Nice hammer! Have you considered adding a black oxide finish?

Thanks for not turning down a service due to religious bias. I've been turned down by a local tattoo parlor whom is ran by an elderly Christian lady who's refused me my pagan tattoos. It's infuriating and shameful to the practice you take part in if you deny your art service because of any bias.

Sorry but I'm not impressed. Just my opinion thatd go good on a key ring but not as a necklace pendant as shown in customers picture. Way to big to wear comfortably. And she didn't ask for a belt sanded piece of metal. She wanted forged. That means hammer strikes, and the fire heated look. May get hated on for my opinion but I'd be disappointed if i got they as a customer.

+Lee C. Grammar has never been one of my strong suits nor is it my priority in my videos. It is more of my focus to properly convey good instruction on the process not worried about how I'm talking. Thanks for the comment by bless and we'll catch you on the next one
