She might have allegedly ended him when she found out about her daughter if that story also check's out because we don't know what their relationship was like. She could be lying about that to make as excuse for him allegedly ending himself. She could have started the fire and went straight to the police department for an alibi or asked someone she knows to set the fire after she left so she has an alibi. So hopefully the police do a thorough job and not let her get away with it if she ended him.
