I have yet to take the carbs apart on my 89. After watching you I'm so so glad I have not done them. thank you. They are cold blooded beasts! But so so fun!
Great video, thanks for sharing... I've just dropped a 1 ton tracked tipper with a friend for his XT350. It's all up and running.. I'm more used to outboards and love 2 strokes but can't wait to get stuck into giving this XT a real good going over! And this Sir is exactly the kind of video I hoped would be on UA-cam... Love it 🙏
Awesome deal wish I could find a deal like that..my dad bought one new in 87 and I got to ride it some as a teenager...man seeing those on showroom floors in the 80s and 90s was awesome.i am looking for one but I am picky..I want all original and in really nice shape
Great video and the bike sounds lovely I’m new to bikes and videos like yours help a lot I appreciate you taking time to post it all the best from Sam in the UK
That was a heck of a deal, sir....I'm looking into buying a 1989 or 90s yamaha 400 xf...been sitting for about 2 years. She needs some attention. 5000 miles on the odometer probably doubled.
Mine has always been hard to start when cold. I almost always had to take the side cover off and open up the air box and spray in some quick start. The battery went completely dead so I installed a new one. Cleaned all the connections. Now it starts right up every time! It’s warm out now, so I’ll have to test it when it gets colder, but I think a strong battery can make a world of difference.
just picked up a 77 TT500 predecessor to this bike paid 900 took 3 hours of carb massaging next thing you know I was wheeling it up the drive way surprisingly tight with decent period suspension and brakes!
I just got a $600 one with clean title. I got it running, but it smokes really bad. I'm fairly sure the oil rings have failed, because it still has compression, but burns oil as if its massive blow by. I'm about to order a rebuild kit for the engine and just do it.
It's always good to buy you some carb cleaner or one of those gallon bucket of cleaner and soak the carb parts after disassembly. You stole that bike at that price , but some people just don't know what they have or are tired of messing with them. I buy carb kits for bikes all the time and most of the aftermarket stuff is junk but you can use the gaskets , O-rings and sometimes other pieces. Most of the jets aren't correct unless you are buying OEM which are way better and more expensive.
I bought a 84 xt350 for $400 and it starts right up and shifts perfectly. It's all cosmetic work I have to do. Basically the guy I purchased it from took everything off that made it a street legal bike (turned it into a straight dirtbike). I'm in the process of making it road legal again.
They are selling me a 1998 Xt 350 with 41k miles for 2K$, do you think that is a good price? The bike is in perfect condition and it will be my first bike🙆♂️
Word. I have a 1985 XT350 and its a super comfortable ride on and off road. Nice work on the carb, thats the secret to keeping it running smooth.
Love video but at 7:09 you say its a fake radiator guard but its actually to funil more air twords engine
Correct. This bike is prone to overheating at highway speeds. Needs all the cooling it can get. Fan would probably be an idea 🤔

I fear the carbs on mine as well. The dual carb set up was one of those WHY questions I have for Yamaha
all i can say is WOW, man you find some deals. good video man, enjoyed this one.
Damn, man. You have a wealth of knowledge on your UA-cam channel! Thanks for all the videos!

Hell of a deal. Can't seem to find anything nearly that good a price these days around me, not since 2018 or so.

I'm a year late... haha. Did you figure out the problem with the smoke? I just picked up the 600 with the same exact symptoms. Thanks!

I subscribe to yours
You still have it let me know whn u want to sell‼️
I sold it long ago. Sorry. A subscriber seen and emailed me about it
Nice!
Is this bike for sale
No sorry I sold it a long time ago
Those bikes are heavy and can be a s.o.b to start in cold mornings.
Mine is second or third kick
@@RpmAuto mines too
Not really, I have owned a couple that were wore out and they still started 1st/ 2nd kick with the choke on.
Mine is an 84 . It's old old
Why do you load that bike backwards ?
If you are by yourself, when you get home, you can ride down the ramp.
We unloaded it of another truck. We backed the trucks up tailgate to tailgate
Didn't even think of that . Makes sense now . Have you been riding that bike ?
I sold it long ago
Sounds like you're sniffing drips from nose candy
😂
$400. Suuuuure dude 🤨
Did you sell this bike or keep it? Just curious. I Jurassic parked mine. My kids love it
I sold it. I wish I hadn't
All these comments. lol he sold it the minute it ran. He didn’t even take the time to adjust it.
He sold it the moment it ran. They like flashy things not vintage.
