    I watch a lot of these architecture/interior design videos. And this is by far one of the most comprehensive tours I've seen. Down to earth, layman terms that I'm sure can speak to architects, designers or regular people like myself. Excellent work! Thank you!!

    I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed this house tour. Maybe it's not cozy to some, but coming into a warm space and out of the frigid snow would change most people's minds. I'm not as minimalist as those folks, but to each their own! I still love the house and craftsmanship.

      And a lot of the negative comments are coming from people who don't see the value of living simple - people who most likely live in inefficient Lennar homes in a suburban tract and with R-13 insulation. There is your ecological disaster.

    My house is just over 1000 sqft at 1200. But its got a full living room, kitchen, 2 full baths and a half, 3 bed rooms. Why does it seem like this house has way less room then a normal suburban house? Is the garage being counted as part of the living space?

    That is a very interesting cabin, for sure! But my burning question is this: in an area that gets a lot of snow, why have a flat roof? Is the roof possibly heated in the winter, with a drain system to catch the snowmelt? Or... ?

      @charlesacton Рік тому +2

      Hi, in Quebec where the project is being built, the structures take into account significant snowloads, on the other hand it is not unusual for the roofs to be cleared of snow by their owners. Although pitched roofs are dominant in these landscapes and make sens maintenance wise, more and more architectural proposals are topped with flat roofs.

    Some really incredible design happening here. One issue I see is with zero overhang that cedar will take a major beating down low from precipitation splash. Probably best to use steel, stone or tile down low transitioning to cedar above. On that note, what’s the deal with all the moisture exiting that vent on the end of the building?

    in norway that can be done for a cabin. it's not allowed for a house. the problem is the lack of insulation. i have sen some making something similar. they needed to use 3-4cm of Thermocert type material. it makes the windows opaque.

    I think the only thing different I would do with this property, is figure out how to motorise the shutters so that you can move them around and close off windows without absolutely _having_ to actually go outside of the property. Especially the shutter for the bathroom. That way if the weather is bad or suddenly turns bad you aren't caught out and can easily press a button inside to close them. Other than that, I'd probably not have gone with the black interior wall, but maybe a darker wood type instead to give the same kind of variation without it being quite _so_ dark. Other than these two changes, this place is amazing! I like the fact everything is hidden away until you actually have to use it.

    That cabin looks like a million bucks, literally. I like the way the rich live and I like the way I live when I'm with them. I guess this is made to be some type of prototype showcase house because if it gets booked 150 times a year that means no one is living there, just staying. All the storage (which is great) is largely unnecessary considering the way the place is currently being used.

    I like the minimalist approach.. however my only concern, shutters are be8ng closd outside, which is a bit tricky -depending on your area for sure.. so you are taking a shower and someone arrives to the window, so you ask them to close it for you? 😂 I would need a remote control for it

    Have your company redesign the house with the shutters on the inside, but have the shutters install as window shades (the shade would be pulled down from the top to the edge of the floor), therefore you wouldn't have to go outside to push the shutters. Redesign by putting a bathtub in and shower combination.
