To be clear …. Fly fishing in downtown Dillon is where you see flatlanders, who fish around the outlet stores . Sort of a “ River Runs Through It “ crowd . North of Dillion is good , not great but good . I always chuckle driving through and seeing who want crowds to see them fishing .
Love the video! Brings back memories. Lived in Breck in the 70s. The Blue used to disappear into the Placer mining tailings outside of town then reappeared a couple miles above lake Dillon. I have 2 memorable moments, one from each section. I worked at Recreation Sports in the Bell Tower Mall (since torn down). I went fishing after work just below the Bell Tower pond, casting from the blacktop parking lot. Caught a nice brown right there in the trash water. The other was in the section above the lake, it was my wedding day, end of April and since I was not allowed to see Deb that day until the actual ceremony (old fashion tradition) I decided to go fishing in that lower section of the Blue. Fishing was good that day. Caught 2 browns, 1 rainbow and a Blonde!
when l was younger fished steelhead in half-frozen rivers a lot, dangerous stuff. the 18 incher you caught had such stunning colors. fished the blue a lot in the mid-1970s, folks had a place near Troublesome Creek'
Right frozen rivers are bit scary. Especially if you aren't familiar with the water. Nice you are a lucky guy! wish I had that river near me growing up.
Beautiful fish , stream , day and great pals you have . Was in Breckenridge in the fall ( 2018 ) and wondered if the Blue was a productive stream and now I know .
Next time you hit the Blue let me know. I will pass you a spot where buddy and I catch 20 inch+ that’s hidden away near town or fly out to join you! :)
@@HooligansFishingCo. sounds good. You can tell your subscribers it’s “make a wish” trip for a Texan with few trout near him to catch. lol. I’ll cough a lot.

The Blue is amazing, all the way up to Green Mtn Res I’d argue some of the best in the state.
