  • Hello, in this video I cleaned and sharpened the file. After removing the rust with vinegar and a brush, I realized that its work surface was not sharp, it was not suitable for work. For a few minutes, I thought that this was a waste of time. But I still decided to give it a try. There were options to leave it in vinegar or another acid indefinitely, but now it's cold and it would be very long, the reaction would be slow. I decided to use a current, namely the positive contact + it quickly corrodes the metal and I had to watch it every sicunda. After the positive contact, a thick black coating formed on the file, it could have been simply washed off with water, but I decided not to waste water on this, and just took and connected it to the negative contact. Minus hissed very actively and the black coating very quickly disappeared. (A 12 volt 17 amp power supply was used)
Thank you for watching my video about a rusty file

Hello, vinegar and a metal brush are not a bad option, this is a working method. You can also use citric acid, it also works well. There is a video on the channel where I use citric acid to clean a file, you may be interested to see this. This time I connected the file to the positive pin of the power supply, but this should only be done in extreme cases, because the plus is very corrosive to the metal, and we should not leave this process unattended. After the positive contact, I connected it to the minus, the minus is very actively hissing, gurgling, and removes the dark plaque that remained after the positive contact, but most likely if I cleaned 5 different files, then I would use vinegar, periodically pulling them out, to remove rust with a brush. Thank you for looking, and I forgot that sometimes there are remnants of soft metals on files, sometimes a steel brush does not help to eliminate them, a needle or a thin blade of a wallpaper knife does a good job with this Perhaps you know all this, but maybe someone will read it, and it will help a person solve the issue of rusty files)

I just wondered what you were using as a power supply.

Hi, you can watch a video of me fixing wire cutters, then it was a sunny day and the birds were singing, but I turned on the machine somewhere in the middle of the video, it's a bit noisy, but the result is not bad, the video is bright and the wire cutters that were unnecessary junk turned into a thing that is useful, thanks for watching
