It's not a ranked game, it's a grinding game where winning is still important but not so much so you have to be so petty, you already tank the repair cost whether you J out or not, so not letting your enemy get the kill is just unnecessarily creating a deficit for his game.
A lot of people jettison, it denies damage/exp for the kill to the enemy player. I honestly think it's dumb since,as stated above, you eat a full repair bill either way. It just feels like being unnecessarily petty because you either got outplayed, or you put yourself in a dumb situation. Might as well let em earn their xp.
When I first started playing war thunder I managed to get like, 7 kills in a row (all one shot) with a T-26 because I had gotten on a hill and was in the perfect position to shoot other tanks directly in the fuel tank or ammo areas I still don’t know how I lasted that long without one of them killing me-

Honestly I feel like 155mm HE would be more than capable of causing enough damage to any vehicle in war thunder minus modern MBTs to result in a one shot kill with a direct hit.

A very recent bruh moment, one that happened earlier this day was with my stug 3 g on Alaska. I was helping repair an M4 who was my squad mate when a stray arty round blew off my track. The m4, being 11ft off the ground was killed in short order. I looked behind me and saw two bt5s and a T34 approaching and was certain I was dead. To my pleasant surprise both the T34 and one of the bts drove in front of my gun, having not seen me over my dead allies body.
One of my most bruh moment in this game is when I was in a Pz.IV G. I was perfectly angled but a T-34 shot me through my add-on armor, may I remind you that I WAS ANGLED too. I swear them russian inject steroids and dip their ammunition in Vodka.
I hade a similar situation like this. I was playing the Panzer 4 H and a KV-1 S shot the part of the hull with tracks which also was angled. Yet he somehow killed me despite the fact that he had to go through 100 mm of armor at an angel.
I think my bruh moment was being chased by three fighters, 2 of which were a higher rank, while I was my Yak bomber. Somehow, from their spawn, I managed to dodge and weave multiple suicide dives and their hail of bullets and lived.
Russian bomber entirely made put of wood is on fire for a relatively long time then suddenly the fire just dissipated instantly. Yup only in war thunder

I’ve seen stupid things in War Thunder but in my KV-2 I was messing around and told me cousin that I’m gonna take my chance at shooting down the plane. Right when I was leading it to take a shot; I somehow manage to take it out from the sky
It’s even worse when you use a 3.0 Swedish SPG and kill a Tiger II (P) in a 6.7 RB battle in 3 shots aswell as ending a Tiger E before they got wise and engaged from range
My most bruh moments of the game till this day are when I knocked out two Jumbos using the Breda 501. The first kill was the most ridiculous because my shell bounced off his UFP, hit the gun, and the entire crew died. The second one when I shot a Jumbo at its mantlet because panic. That killed the entire crew for some reason.
There are 2 bruh moments i had, one was when i had heats equipped and in a panic a shot at a tank that was behind me, me being a dumbass, i missed and shot the ground under him, still killed em tho. Second, is that i literally get butt fucked by a bot and got rammed to death against a wall by a bot.
Yeah Jumbos had a funny bug for a while where if a big enough APHE shell hit the mantlet, even if it failed to pen, the HE filler would overpressure the crew.
