That Kugel vs. M50 is almost exactly what happened with me in a Marder A1- versus a U-SH. Only thing is, I shot him in the front with no funny angles from up close 60 times with my Default belt, and all of my shots either non-penned, disappeared, or only turned his driver orange. He then killed me. Also, friendly reminder that they nerfed the Kugel’s HVAP belts so it doesn’t pen 95mm if armor anymore, but instead 77mm

In all honesty, unless your fire rate is damn quick. I don't see a point of going over 20-25 rounds. It is more than enough for most tanks.
