I mixed a live punk-rock gig last week and one of the bands used DI signal sent through these pedals and used their cabs for stage monitoring only. And they sounded tight and juicy, loved it.

Another fun use; when using piezo pickups to simulate acoustic tones, you can load in ir's of various acoustic guitars and it'll sound legit.

Honestly the only bad thing I can say about the pedal is that it's so small and expensive that it's gonna be really easy for people to steal.
I noticed the pedal actually has a 12v power jack on the back, but I saw some info from mooer saying that it will run fine on 9v but the headroom of the ad/da will be better at 12v. If you're playing really hot signals 12v is probably better.

    • @TheSpangification
      @TheSpangification 6 років тому

Using the 4-cable method I´m now able to get 5 different sounds from my amp. But I only use 3 (V4 + Clean channel) or just the Kraken V4 into the power amp - depends on what guitar I use. Rolling off the volume nob, which works very well on the V4, gives you a clean/crunchy tone with the same characteristics of channels 1 and 2. This is why I might not even feel the need to use the clean channel on my amp, since it lacks compression. The feel and playability of the Kraken V4 is just super, and it's a fun pedal to play. The volume nobs and, my favorite feature, the "tight nobs" (Bass cut & Bright cut) on the Peavey JSX still work using the FX-return. I will be replacing the tubes on the JSX as they´ve run their course. So things can only get better! Please, read my full review in the comments here: ua-cam.com/video/MAuDgLjHZgw/v-deo.html

Nice demo of the Victory Kraken V4 preamp pedal, which I didn't know, as my old Sansamp PSA-1 red version limited edition is still my favourite preamp. Honestly the Mooer influence in the sound is so subtile that I can"t hear it most of the time or like an EQ setting when it can be heard. The Kraken Victory might be an interesting alternative to my PSA-1 as it is all tubes and sounds maybe more modern and wilder.

Do you think it is enough with the distortion power that the MOOER gives or I can add an additional Metal Zone simulator without saturating it. (I currently connect with a PODHD500x + MOOER RADAR on FXLoop + Headrush FRFR 108). --- Excellent video by the way!

Would the Torpedo Captor do the same thing?

Could this help brighten up the tone of my very dark sounding PRS McCarty with P9o's which I'm ready to get rid of????

What is that red Arrow that pops up in the screem pointing to the output side when you're playing?

Instead of preamp can we use a distortion or overdrive pedal before this to get a high gain tone ?

I know you posted this some time ago but I don't see replies so I'm hoping this helps - but yes, you can do that. If you check out Ola Englund's channel, you'll see multiple examples of him using Boss distortion pedals (I think the Metal Zone or Heavy metal but can't remember offhand) into the effects return of his Satan amp.
So: Guitar - Distortion Pedal - Effects Return (so he's basically using only the power amp section of his amp) - Speaker Cab. On that chain, the Mooer Radar would be replacing the Effects Return/Power Amp and the Speaker Cab :)
In fact, I think it's the only way to decently use pedals like the Metal Zone and not have your guitar sound like a swarm of angry bees (in my opinion at least).

Hi bro ! Looks/sounds like a handy little unit. Wont replace a Two Notes or a UA OX,but... The advantages (EQ tweaking etc.) seem to be at the same time its limitations - for me at least - as I would be quite reluctant to spend too much time in fine tuning all the options rather than playing. I'm the Guitar-Cable-Amp kind of guy - you know, Old School :-)) I've been tweaking a lot in Bias FX and created my own modded amp (based on a Maz 18 from Dr Z) and I basically work with this one for everything. If by any chance it doesn't work out in the mix, I am recording a second dry track simultaneously and there's always a possibility of re-amping ! What do you think ? Keep on rocking Rabea \m/

I hear you! Seems by time you really tweak, volumes are totally disparate. All of these need a master global output leveler, so at the end of the week, after all the tweaking, all patches are same level (if u want) but then I just go back to the couple that I always use, ha! Oh yeah, clean tones are just as important!

Any reactive load involved here at all or just impulse response? Sounds awesome!

It’s just a preamp pedal into the Radar. No load involved ;)

Oh yeah, forgot it was from a preamp :-) Sounds great!
