- Richard Quest, CNN's resident #AVGEEK, flies the inaugural non-stop from Nairobi to New York. This makes Kenya Airways only the SIXTH airline to fly directly between the U.S. and the ENTIRE continent of Africa.
Well done KQ. You have made Africa proud. Spreading the love from 🇹🇿🇹🇿.
One Love
With Pres Magufuli vision Tz is halfway there inshaallah... 🇹🇿🙏
Samuel Killewo ... they are making us East Africans proud. Proud of you Kenya. From a Tanzanian 🇹🇿
I pray we become one country...Love from Kenya..The east Africa community rules
It was going down the drain till the white man took the management.
Congratulations to the people of Kenya.
Congratulations to Kenyan for such modern fleet.
Are you Polish? The Ceo is Polish and we like what he is doing very much.
The branding on the Kenya airways planes is just marvelous...
The world should watch Kenya, in the near future.
I am proud kenya being part of my story, hongera Kenya and Kenyans.
Kenya Airways the pride of Africa..we are proud of you
You mean Ethiopian, the Pride of Africa
Njoroge Wangari No fool! I mean KENYA AIRWAYS THE PRIDE OF AFRICA!! Now..go sulk in a corner!
@@barbaran3994 Ethiopian, Pride of Africa, Safaricom Mpesa, Pride of Africa, infact Mpesa should be the Pride of the Global finance and banking sector. Kenya Airways, the once former mighty Carrier, formerly the Pride of Africa, now a sickly airline that should have collapsed two years ago were it not for the government bailout. However all is not lost, the potential for KQ is vast, unfortunately while she was in the Intensive Care Unit, her rivals divided up her empire amongst themselves. If you want to know who rules the East African skies, just get the Flightradar24 app and check the activity between 1800hrs-0100hrs within the peninsula. As for Ethiopian, the group runs an airline, cabin & flight deck training centre, catering, Maintenance & overhaul & repair (MRO) the and Simulator training.... Nothing personal, just facts ...Kind Regards.
Njoroge Wangari Kenya Airways the pride of Africa, we are behind you..keep going! Don't pay mind to the naysayers!!
KENYA AIRWAYS, THE PRIDE OF AFRICA!!!
I love their accent.
Congrats to Kenya....An Awesome Country
Well done KQ. I flew KQ for the first time to Dubai in September and i must say their service is great and commendable for an African Airline. I hope to fly with KQ more
Congratulations Kenya! Awesome video Richard! I just flew with the A380 to SFO, amazing flight ✈️.
I will always respect KQ.
Proudly kenyan 🇰🇪🇰🇪
Congratulations Mr Micheal Joseph for your tireless efforts to grow our Kenyan economy . your leadership in Safaricom was appreciated where by you came up with Mpesa and many more, now your chairmanship in Kenya airways have started rising up with direct flight to USA now Kenya is competing in the global market nice job God bless.pls share with Young Kenyan your leadership skills Mr Michael Joseph

The plane you showed at 2:07 was a B77W not 787... Come on CNN
I saw that too, , , , not normal, , Richard is normally on top,. . the editing dept didn't realise. This route wont last anyway
the airline is a very poorly run airline...when there is a delay or missed connection they are totally dis organised. passengers wont put up with their bad ways and they will have law suits. they will be delayed a lot and this is going to be a problem. Bad airline. stay away
Agreed! I hate when the lames ignore the actual types of aircraft, as if it doesn’t matter, when it always does! 😐😑

A major achievement for KENYA
Well done Kenya.. The country is really marvelling.. Hope visiting again
I will be flying with this plane in 90days from now
Ezra Ira I might be going back to Kenya soon hope it gets on one of these flights
Congrats Kenya airways! I wish Air Mauritius flew direct to NYC.
Direct flight means is a flight with a stop to another place for example Manila via Japan to New York while Non-stop is continuous flight like for exams from Manila to Low Angeles
So where are the Ethiopians who were saying Ethiopian airlines was the first in east africa.last reminder to anyone who still doesn't get it,East Africa is a community formed by Kenya Uganda Tanzania Rwanda Burundi and lastly south Sudan
Pascal adiba
No, Pascal! You are mistaken. There is a difference between the East African Community which is an organization, and East Africa which is a geographical region which includes all those countries you have mentioned above plus Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Seychelles, etc.
Eastern Africa
Kenyan Airways after all that whopla is still loosing money! So, Ethiopian Airlines is what East Africa and the whole Africa got!
This is the pride of the fleet: the Boeing 787 Dreamliner
Shows video of a 777
Noticed that too...
2:05 that's a 777-300ER 😂
Hahah CNN for ya
Right lol
Lots of video production uses “B-roll” indiscriminately. That’s why you will see 727s still in news coverage.
Which you have on your front yard🤣🤣
OhHiMark nope 777 200ER
Richard Quest at 7:10 " Do not know how it got into my luggage............., you might want to return it " Mikosz " Why, you like it" Richard Quest " It's used", he is speaking in metaphors if you might understand that No worry Richard in 5 years time you will be surprised from zero to hero, African airlines will be the next emerging liners.
just banter IMO

Was Richard Q really happy for us?
Richard, the plane shown on water canon salute is a 777, a type KQ doesn’t even operate anymore...
Are we going to talk about planes and ignore that lady? Kudoz to her first lady captain in the world 23 years of successful flights.
It is not only Kenya that will benefit from this direct flight but East Africa as a whole
I just wish people would stop using the term "Direct" when they should be using the term "Nonstop". "Direct" flights are never nonstop. Direct flights will always have an en route stop (or multiple stops) and usually there is no change of aircraft, however an airline can have a change of aircraft and still call it "Direct" if they assign the same flight number all the way through to the final destination. "Nonstop" always means Nonstop. (This is very similar to the hotel terms "Adjoining" and "Connecting" rooms which are also not the same. "Adjoining" means just next to and "Connecting" will have the interior door to access the next door room). So, NONSTOP and CONNECTING are terms that should be used 9 times out of 10 because that is what you were intending.
Incredible
Many Blacks have always known that this was possible. What's crazy is that if Kenya can fly non stop all the way to N.Y.C what makes Amerikkka think lil Kim Jung can't launch a missle from pyong yang to the u.s.?
and what makes me think ur mama could give birth to you..so u think a flight cant leave kenya to states
Black panther LOL,yeah it should be quite a spectacular event. And then China would have no rival to own Kenya and continue ripping you off for resources.
Neg Ste. Lucie No,you and he are insinuating that.I pointed out that if a plane has the ability to fly from Africa to NY,than an I.c.b.m. would have no problems doing the same.If he is sensitive that's his problem.
I’m kenya 🇰🇪 and I do see your point . Americans (some) have backward mentality and stereotypes that make them underestimate capabilities of developing countries. I get black panther’s point but his/ her delivery was uncalled for. Kindness doesn’t cost a thing.
Dtr Iams Thank you.

#African hub #kenya.Game changer
The US airlines are Delta, South African, Royal Air Maroc, Egypt Air and Ethiopian.
Sure, all of them are from the US. No doubt.
GO KENYA GO!!!!
2:04, that’s a Boeing 777-300ER, not a 787-8 Dreamliner that’s “the pride of the fleet.” You’d think they’d know a difference between a 777 and a 787 on such a large event, and as a Kenyan I’m embarrassed at this mistake. 🇰🇪
Joel Kaime Atterhög The filming was of a Boeng 777 but the actual plane that made the maiden flight to JFK was a 787 Dreamliner. It was just a slight mistake.
tru marzo I knew that, but the 777 isn’t even in the KQ fleet anymore. 😂
Kq the best. Flew kq dreamliner 2 days ago the service was A+++++++
Incredible!
How Much Does A Flight Cost From Thé U.S.A To KENYA ?
Depends on season or booking time. Average is $770 return

he wasnt to prepared for that segment...
At 02:05 you showed a 777 and mentioned 787 instead 😂

You need to take a look at your country. Just because Africa is less developed that doesn’t mean that Africa is bad. The people in Africa are way better than American people. Also you don’t even know what the plane is you called a 777 a 787🧐
3 years later, Kenyan Airways is still loosing money!

im sorry people but SAA had been doing the Africa to new york route for nearly 10 years now, whats new? Ethiopian has been doing addis ababa to new york as well
It is not a competition. Is India or Pakistan better than Japan or South Korea just because they have nuclear weapons? Routes are driven by demand and demand for a direct flight to NYC has grown due to increasing Kenyan population in USA as well as economic growth among other factors. Eg Kenya hosts the world global hqs for UNEP, UNON etc and UN global hqs is in NYC. Use your brain
Says 787 and shows a 777...

Stop with the racism nonsense. It's not about the color of the person's skin but rather whether he/she is capable of doing the job given to them. For all of you "woke af Africans" posting nonsense here would you rather we gave the job to "our own" who would pretty much run the company to the ground (judging from kqs past management record) or hire somebody competent regardless of where he/she is from?.
exactly, why cant black people do things the right way, that really bothers me alot!
@@samwanyoike193 yea that's not what I said. there are a lot of capable black people all over the world, just as there are a lot of capable Latinos, Asians, aboriginals etc. Point is you hire competence not skin color.
KQ customer service sucks. Even will all this investment, the airline hasn't made a profit for over 10yrs
What's wrong with CNN? Yu always provide incorrect facts
It is used huh. That's y i don't like this relationship. His ego is like Trump's
Congratulations to Kenyan hope this is not Chinese hidden something
Boring as hell Richard
The airline is now going to disappoint Americans. Good luck lol. Kenya won't last 2 years on this route because they will be messing slot of people around when they have delays and don't act to rebook and passengers wait for ages. That aircraft shown is a 777 yet they use the 787
Garth James I don’t think so coz the flight has two categories human transport and cargo transport (agriculture transport)..so the direct flight will provide ready and fresh products to the states
shame, ,, did I strike a nerve ?? LOL Good. See if I care about your comment Barbara N ….what is the N stand for, , oh wait, ,, I know
ya, , , they are shocking. But , of course, , , I will have people saying I am racist because they are not bright enough to realise any other response....laughable !
I doubt their demise based.on your observation. Any anticipated delay is expected at JFK due to the sheer scale of operations at the airport besides the usual winter disruptions. The NBO-JFK route is the flagship for the airline which means it will have priority for departure at NBO unless the aircraft goes tech or other unforeseen circumstances. If there is a threat to the viability of this route, it's from external factors like competition or acts of God. Regards.
I have been a travel agent for over 20 years and nearly every time I put passengers on Kenya Airways, , there is a delay, ,, even my own flights to India, , the return was a mess and it is Always something 'out of their control' . don't believe me...it is not important to me, , , I just want there to be a reference to come back to say, , I did warn. Ethiopian are not much better and the same goes for South African Airways. These people don't plan properly and don't have the proper experience anymore to be pro active and do onward re-booking when a delay is already known. Everything is REACTED to, , , no pro active measures ever. Therefore, , I say to people, , , be careful and check the next fare up. The yellow fever issue is another problem. I don't really care what happens unless it is a passenger of mine....but , , luckily I look after my passengers but KQ don't know how to look after a problem booking or lost/missed connection...they are completely backward.
