Awesome work. Born and raised there and my kids are now 5th generation Astorian’s! You got an instant subscription from me. I’m a big Astoria historian and know so many things ppl don’t have a clue about and pass by each day.

You clearly have very low standards if you think this was awesome work.

Love this! I was born in Astoria and lived there from 1949 to 1971 when I married and moved to the Bronx. Thanks for making this video.

Great video. Such a shame that so much history has been lost and is still being lost in Astoria.

Thanks so much for this. I am an Astoria native and I love all history, but especially the history of Astoria. Such a shame that the Barclay mansion was not restored. Think of how wonderful it would be to visit it today. I have had the good fortune to meet two of Astoria's most famous residents, Whitey Ford and Tony Bennet. Trivia - Tony Bennet was involved as a youth for the opening day of the Triboro Bridge. The father of actress Swoosie Kurtz, Colonel Frank Kurtz Jr. was a WWII airforce hero and also an Olympic diver. He qualified I believe at the Astoria Pool.

My parents lived in Astoria when they first got married. I was born in Astoria (well Jackson Heights but lived in Astoria after I was born back in '77- then I grew up on the North Shore of Long Island once we moved from Queens in '81) and I spent a lot of time there when I was young since some of my dad's side of the family was still there. In the late '90's - early 2000's My dad worked at a friend's coffee shop under the L on 30th Ave. and he lived on 41st St & Ditmars Blvd. I loved it there, this brings me back to some really good times.
