One thing I've noticed about these recipes is that most of them are not beginner friendly. I realised that there is a ton of skill involved in making these, especially since they don't often contain chemical leaveners.
Actually they are easu to make ( the sponges of course, for a start try the sponge without overwhelming urself with frosting or whatever, it tastes really good ) i was verry beginner when i first tried vanilla sponge cake and i nailed it. All u have to make sure of, is beating the egg whites well until the finishing mix doesn't move when you move your bowl ( about five mnts for four eggs depends on ur mixer ), and than incorporate ur other ingrédients gently so you donc break the air bubbles you created by beating ( they are the only élément that lift ur sponge ). Excuse my english i'm not a native speaker. Wish u all luck.

@@micky4fun It takes everyone a lot of practice! As someone who is into always improving technique, I appreciate this channel a lot for these reasons. There is a very good balance of technique displayed while also being deliberate and clear with what is happening and how it's being applied, even without using spoken instructions. This is often not easy to find in cooking videos as there tends to be either a lack of clarity for the sake of just getting a recipe out, or repeated explanations only ever aimed at beginners. Hidamari strikes many good areas and is also quite prolific.
Oh boy are you right! I chose to make a fraisier for my in-laws party (bad idea!) I removed my ring mould and the acetate and it just fell apart into mush. I think this may have happened because I tried to triple the recipe. However, it was such an embarrassing moment.
Baking is like chemistry meets art. It's really frustrating in the beginning but once you get the hang of using various ingredient then you can figure out how much you'll need of what to make "this taste" or "that texture" and that's the chemistry part. Some of us are lucky to have that knowledge passed to us through parents. Even if it is not aesthetic to the eyes, the aim is to enjoy the food :>

@@Jay-ut8es have you tried a cartoon called Steven Universe? It's really awesome. 6 seasons, 10 minutes episodes. And a movie. I think it was sadly completed this year. It starts with some cute stuff about a boy going on adventures with his dead mom's friends and guardians, learning to use his powers. But as you go further the plot starts to get thicker. (I recommend NOT seeing ANY spoilers until you finish at least the first 5 seasons) and then the last and sixth season, features the future, a now older and more mature and less mentally stable Steven, who has to deal with the severe trauma he developed from all the stuff he went through, and the feelings of isolation, and how he lost his purpose in life now that there's no one to help anymore. It's just really bittersweet, how you watch the cheerful naive boy change as he grows. It's a really good show in my opinion. I'm recommending it since you just finished Ouran High School anime, and I know how sad it is when the show you were invested in comes to an end. So maybe starting another thing helps? It's hard to find online, so I can give you a link if you want^^
In Japan, strawberries are chosen to be displayed in stores only if they are "perfect". They are grown in greenhouses because the land in Japan does not allow the cultivation of many fruits. Due to their rarity, they are therefore very expensive and chosen with care. They are between 800 and 1000 yen per tray, about 1 dollar per strawberry. Personnaly I prefer our strawberries ^^' ...
