Isn't she Lovely? That was a remarkably beautiful presentation., your spirit glowed with vitality and love for what you do and it was admirable. Shine on, dear Aleeda.
Good morning. Thank you for having these extra special guests for us to become a part of their quilting experiences. I appreciate how much volunteering is spoken of and encouraged. So many hesitate to volunteer. Volunteering opens one’s eyes to more possibilities and being able to see things through other’s perspectives. Hugs, I appreciate all you do for us watchers here….
I'm so glad to hear that pretty much all guilds have trouble getting volunteers. Quilt Con is put on by 9 people! I can relate. This interview helped me, step back and not worry about it. Tired guild President.
Karen thank you for introducing Aleeda. Such a lovely lady. So true that the lessons we learn from our parents when are young, puts us on the right path through life and hopefully our kindness rubs off on someone else. Volunteering is such a satisfying deed but with so many "full plates" I am glad Aleeda still has time for enjoying friendship and sewing. 👏♥️🇦🇺
I’ve had the volunteer spirit since my teens too. How nice to meet someone else who is also a serial volunteer! I also love connecting people for that added synergy. So much in common. Aleeda you are so lovely and inspiring. Sister from another mother I guess!! ❤
I am in 2 quilt groups. Oh my, we are busy. There are SO many needs out there. I volunteer with so many other groups. I had to learn to step back. I am an old lady and just want to help. Thank you for this video. 😊 I will keep on volunteering while I can. 😊 I am president of many. Hoping others will come forward.
What a great interview! Such a positive person. Yes to using your super power! But also choosing what you can do when someone asks. For instance i knew I could not handle the responsibilities when our guild was organizing its show next year but I could volunteer to work at, make somethings for the pop up shop and asked my hubby to help at set up and takedown. A wise person told me to say yes to somethings not all things.
I enjoyed this video because I used to be in a guild and 12 years later I am not in one. I put the dates of when the local one meets in my calendar and then ignore them. I am going to go next time. I made your hospital ugly quilt and got mixed up somehow and turned it into a cat quilt I just don’t look at-ha!
My boyfriend is a serial volunteer too, and sometimes is a problem for me. The bigger problem is him not telling me about plans in general until the day(s) leading up to it. It's who he is and I love him for it but sometimes it feels like I'm not the priority
I joined the local mqg and had a horrible experience. They've since disbanded. I enjoyed it at first, then there was a leadership change, and it became The Mean Girls. Very disappointing.
Enjoyed this video greatly, but now I have a suggestion for another discussion. I would like to feel good about donating my quilts to charity, but I can't find any examples of recipients who were delighted to receive a quilt, who kept the quilt, who enjoyed using the quilt, etc. I live in a rural area and have not reached out to the local police department, fire station, nursing homes, etc. I do not belong to any guilds as it is quite a long drive to the meeting place. In a nutshell, is it maybe one out of a hundred that makes a difference to a recipient? I am not asking how to get involved with a group, I am asking whether the quilts are appreciated. Any comments? Sorry that this is so far afield from today's video, but I have been thinking about this issue for a couple of years. Thank you for any feedback.
I feel that any quilt that is given to someone makes a difference. Imagine your family home burned down, you have absolutely nothing left. Some one from the fire truck wraps you in a quilt that was donated. You feel a) grateful to be warm. B) loved
I made 2 quilts that were exquisite for my grandkids. They were requested by my daughter in law who never gave them to the kids. I couldn’t find out why. She did say she had a lot of quilts and blankets- from Wal Mart and doesn’t like to “decorate with them”. I don’t know what she did with them. The kids are now growing up and they say they don’t know where they are.
Aleeda is such a go getter. I'm afraid to say I don't ever see the need for DEI in a quilting guild. Are quilts just a group of like minded quilters. Too too many rules. Next th I ng, you have to have you Social Credit Score checked just to join. Sorry, no disrespect. Just not my cup of tea.
What a lovely lady! People like her make our world a much better place!
In a nutshell, your superpower is being kind to others. We need more people like you.🤗💞
What a gem! So much wisdom was shared. Everyone should listen to this.

Shine on, dear Aleeda.
When I met her at QuiltCon last year her energy just filled the space. So glad I could interview her.
What a delightful person....she exudes enthusiasm
It was wonderful just to be near her

Our pleasure!
I like her views. Quilt guilds can be very hurtful with their expectations. Thanks for video
Thank you for sharing. She was fantastic.
She seems like one awesome lady. Very glad to have watched this video!
Lovely interview. What a great speaker and person. Thank you for all the ideas.

Quilt Con needs 100 volunteers to help those 9 run the show! I heard that here or on Quilter on Fire, 2 good quilt resources here in Canada.
I really enjoyed this interview!! 💖✂️🧵🪡
Very sensible and nice lady. Especially the advice that someone may do the job, but in a different way from how you did it.
That was a really good point
“The Dead Body” the original weighted blanket. Great story!
I just love that story
Oh I would have loved to see The Dead Body quilt! 😁

Terrific interview, lovely person. Her EQ is off the charts! Just these few minutes felt like a visit with a beloved mentor. Thank you !

Excellent interview. Aleeda is inspiring and so positive. ❤❤😊
Fantastic video, hearing Aleeda take on volunteering was very refreshing and inspiring. Thanks for sharing such inspiring people. 👍❤️😊
So glad!
Thank you, your talk was very inspiring. I do love to volunteer, but sometimes I need to say "No, can't do" and I find saying No is hard.
What a wonderful interview. She is a very special lady. Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yes we all need to volunteer. Thank you
A truly lovely, interested person. Thanks for the interview from Somerset UK ❤👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
She’s delightful! ❤

Hi Aleeda, from a Jersey girl. Love your spirit.
Great interview!

Karen thank you
Great Interview! The sharing was just some more giving of herself.
We agree!
I really enjoyed this. Thank you!
That cross over situation is exactly what I, as Charity coordinator for my guild, am trying to create!
Great interview as usual, thanks
Thanks for listening

I really enjoyed this video. You do such a great job on all of your videos. I really love how you use all of your scraps

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I certainly would feel a bit better, even if only for a brief time. Good point. @@sandyjones1439
