I have the 35mm T2.4 I use it with bmpcc4k. It's definitely a unique lens and I wish I could use it for more projects (such a specialty look and I actually like how it's limiting in ways)
When I used the OG pocket I loved the 35mm 2x. When I used it with the 4K pocket I noticed barrel distortion galore. Some tweaks in post fix it. Like you said - they’re expensive for what you get. Fun to play with but not great.
Hi Tito. Great review as always. It looks like you're using the GH5 to test these and other MFT lenses/adapters, but how are you monitoring the image? My experience is the GH5 can't output more than 4k over HDMI, so it is impossible to use an external monitor in "open-gate" 6k anamorphic mode when recording. Are you managing with just the camera's LCD?
It seems to be a consensus that these lenses are way over priced. Used, I've seen them sitting at around $1700 a piece with very little discount per lens if you buy a set. With all the flaws in mind, I snagged one for $875 off ebay. Hopefully, sellers of these lenses will take note and you'll be able to get them a lot cheaper as more options are now available.
@@chinitopinoy1726 it’s not unusable, but given how hard it is to focus these anyway, it’s nice having a little margin of error with a wider focus depth.
For my personal projects, I exclusively shoot on m43, but I have zero m43 lenses. I've been eyeing these for some time, but the mount is very limiting. It's the BEST mount for cameras, not so great for the lenses.
DP - In general I'd agree with that, except for the Panny 12mm 1.4 (sharpest lens I've ever used), and the Oly 12-40mm 2.8, perhaps the best walk-around lens ever made.
Nice video I am new to anamorphic and I am using my gh4 with a sankor 16c Nikon hc. 50mm lens. I would like to make this a single focus setup what’s the best solution in your opinion? I was looking at the Kolner single focus or a rapido single focus. Please assist if you know of a better way or brand thanks
Rented a 35mm for a project last September... HORRIBLE MISTAKE. Because of how soft the lens is, it's really, really hard to get anything in focus. As you mentioned, chromatic aberration is so intense, which again makes getting things in focus really difficult. Even with a 7 inch monitor, half my shots were out of focus. Half of the in focus shots looked like his talking head sections. Awful, awful lens.
True.. They are real 2x tho i guess 🤷🏻♂️ I use bmpcc4k + Sirui50 + his 2x oval and its just beauuuutiful 😍 later today imma upload a test with a too small wideangle adapter what ive seen so far its like a 24mm on crack its epic 😂😂

Telescoping focus ring?! Yikes. And the oval insert, what a joke. If we wanted a anamorfake, there is cheaper and better options... at this price, SLR magic is off their face
I would never buy theese. They have a lot of distortion, way too much cromatic abberation and strange anamorphic "effects". The price is just ridiculous...
@@AnamorphicOnABudget would really honestly love to try those out... there's none available here that i know off.. gotta be flown in from HK or maybe SG i think.
These seem to be a a variable close-up diopter attached to a 2x anamorphot-50 adapter attached to an MFT taking lens, correct? Would it be possible to disassemble the unit a bit and replace the taking lens with something compatible with, say, APS-C or full frame L-mount/FE/RF/Z? Obviously with a longer focal length to avoid portholing.
Not sure about the luminous green nut sacks you were twirling about.
But great review.

Amazing as usual! Love your content! Keep going!!!!
An oval insert inside a 2x lens! What a hoot.
tbh the telescoping focus makes it unusable to me. Itd be such a pain to use with focus gears.
Other than shallow depth of field I think I can get better results with an anamorphic lens for my phone.
Not a single nice thing can be said about the look these lenses produce.

how did you desqueeze the footage with the OG while filming? External monitor or can we do it in body?

Heya! Yeah, I used the GH5, and I've been using the LCD and viewfinder for so long, I'm just used to it.
Which one did you film on ? I suppose it’s the widest due to the distortion and vignette
Yup, shot on the 35.

I agree, Finnegan gets extra cute with the scarf, it's amazing!
