    In the first 2 sentences I knew this was Canadian filmed. "Snowshoe hares, and kraft dinner" were the giveaways. Excellent video. Love my 410s

    The wobbly pump handle is meant to be like that, it reduces chance of the action arms snapping

    I never thought much of the .410 until I shot a friends Mossberg pistol grip (#50455) camper in 1989. This gun was soooooo much fun. I could actually shoot it one handed and score hits! In 1991 he decided to sell it, fortunately I got it (with soft cordura case) and (extra) full length butt stock for $130. The fore end and pistol grip are black wood (or some composite) but the full butt is the standard wood. Doesn't really match but still looks bad ass. With it's 3" chamber it'll shoot all .410 ammo. Some years ago I got a great sale on Rexio .410 buckshot (2.5") I bought 500 rounds, so I'm fixed pretty good for the apocalypse. Also got 30 Dragons Breath shells (for the zombies). It is an excellent little shotgun. Folks ya gotta get a freakin' .410. Nice video.

      I used to have a 20 gauge 500 Camper.I put a pistol grip shoulder stock on it but soon changed to a conventional shoulder stock from Choate's Machine & Tool.
      A Model 500 in any gauge is a good gun.

      My friends chuckled the first time I showed up with a single shot .410 but they started buying themselves one for small game.
      I've got 3 12 gauges but I've always felt that gauge was a heavy trip for squirrels & rabbits.

      @@Huntingpros I am thinking about buying a MOSSBERG .410 model 500 shotgun. A pump shotgun would be fun.
      I have a COBRAY model D single shot .410 shotgun.
      It has a synthetic shoulder stock and a 18" inch steel barrel.
      IT IS THE WORLD'S LIGHTEST .410 SHOTGUN!
      It only weighs 1.5 pounds.
      It fires buckshot, birdshot, slugs & .22LR with barrel insert.
      It is a good reliable Survival gun for rabbits, squirrels and small game birds.
      I have another barrel for it that allows me to fire .45LC ammo.
      I also have a 12 gauge flare pistol barrel for it.

    For the rattling arm have you tried slipping a strip of self-adhesive velcro (soft/female side) inside each side of the arm? Quiets the rattle and made the slide action a little smoother.

    How is dirt & snow going to get into the loading port? Are you stuffing crap into it to show that it could happen?

    • @Huntingpros
      @Huntingpros  3 роки тому

      Snow easily gets in a shotgun if you are using it for small game hunting around here. Walking through the woods with snow covered limbs... Happens all the time.

    • @doughesson
      @doughesson 3 роки тому

      @@Huntingpros I own a 12 & a 20 gauge Mossberg 500 & never had a problem with anything getting into the action via the loading port but the shells.

    • @Huntingpros
      @Huntingpros  3 роки тому +1

      @@doughesson I own a 20 gauge 500 as well and have used it for years hunting hares during our harsh Canadian winters. Very durable gun and well worth the money. Just speaking from personal experience, I have had snow and ice up in and my shotgun a few times. One of the things I'm not a fan of on these guns is that the port is exposed for things to get in there. You walk through the woods with 6 inches of snow on all of the limbs around you, snow is going to get in. You slip and fall, mud or snow is going to get in. With a simple cover this wouldn't happen. All of my browning, Beretta, Benelli, and Remington shotguns aren't open where the loading port exists. I just find it interesting that Mossberg keeps it open.

    • @doughesson
      @doughesson 3 роки тому +1

      @@Huntingpros It also works well for the Ithaca 37 where Mossberg got the idea for the open port for ease of loading.

    That forend is designed to be sloppy to protect the cocking arms on the pump action. If there two tight the arms warp under cocking and can stop it cycling properly. Again the 500 was designed to be gateless this was a law enforcement request to allow for quicker loading and clearence of obstructions.

      .410s have so few pellets in the shell that they need to be concentrated to be effective.
