- Commissioned by Roland in 2018, “Serendip” premiered at the XVIII World Saxophone Congress in Zagreb. Composer Nigel Wood uses the Aerophone AE-10 and Aerophone GO with the Equinox Saxophone Ensemble to demonstrate the melodic and expressive qualities of Roland's innovative digital wind instruments, along with the new creative possibilities introduced by combining them with traditional acoustic instruments.
The performance features 11 musicians, including 9 acoustic saxophone players and 2 Aerophone players. Alistair Parnell performs with the Aerophone AE-10, while Dan Gribbin performs with Aerophone GO. Both players are using onboard sounds only.

I wasn't so keen about the synth choice on AE-5 (but the choices on it are limited). Other than that it was a really nice journey for my mind and ears.

Being a Roland synthesizer guitar player and keyboard synthesizer player I find listening to this demonstration leaves me wondering if they forgot to incorporate a vibrato button on this electronic wind instrument. I've got a whammy bar on the guitar and a pitch bend wheel on the keyboards. I can also incorporate finger shake vibrato on either the guitar or keyboard. Without the dynamics of vibrato this electronic woodwind style instrument is a fail.
Great performance I noticed there were some uncommon saxophones in the mix the 4 common ones of course being the Bari, Tenor, Alto and Soprano. I assume the other two were the sopranino and the contrabass but I may be wrong.

Nice combination. I enjoyed it. Question. Is the voice a default patch? I don't think it has to imitate the real instruments but I wanted to hear more like a clean voice. Because real saxophones sound really clean and pure but, unfortunately, the Aerophones sound like detuned synthwave.

When the AE-5 joined in, it finally felt like music. Acoustic farts are pleasure for some people, but to me, I like the electronic sound.
Sounded ok until the AE-5 joined in. That sound killed the whole thing.

AE-5 is awful sounds like someone joined in with a cheap Casio keyboard, it was almost comical plus the visual aesthetic it is like some 1980s prop from star trek the next generation
Aerophoneの音色をなるべく電子音の少ないStringやBrassにしてほしかった。Saxメンバーがせっかく集まったのに、Aerophoneの高音と電子音で、台無しになってしまった。
