At the age of 68, I am now the caregiver for my mom, who will be 101 years old in September. She is in decent shape physically but she has dementia and some days it is hard to not feel as if I am living "groundhog day" repeating the same stuff over and over again. I work part time in a children's science center and museum which helps me keep my sanity. Some days I have no energy left at the end of the day for taking on any art project, no matter how small. But there are a few days in the month where everything works out and I find that my "art time" is more special because it is not easily achieved.
Many of us who have ADHD have "time blindness", we look up from our constant distractions to see that chunks of time have slipped by. I keep to-do lists, set alarms, etc. This is an ongoing struggle. I remind myself to focus on my passions first, (art being one of them) as that will keep me motivated. Thx for these reminders 😊
Thank you, Danny! You may have solved my dilemma of mindlessly searching the internet or playing games! I am 76 years old. For a long while now, I have been trying to ween myself from this habit with not much luck. It was quite the eye opener when I put dollar signs to the time invested. How much time and money I could reinvest in the things that really matter to me…like being creative!
At almost 54 is much more valuable to me than in my thirties. I have a theory that by 50 we are all confronted with this beautiful truth. What are my truest priorities?🖤🌻🖤🌻🙌Exellent words of wisdom good sir!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I often think of the costs in my life, what I didn't think about early on was the waste in my life. The excess. The imaginary future me that was going to do things. I do spend too much time on my phone, it is how I connect with like minded such as yourself. I often times just listen to provoke my thoughts while I art in a completley different format or mood. I like and comment to build the algorithm for those I appreciate to show my gratitude and help them in my little way. TY Danny. I have a lot to tnink about today.
This is a beautiful video, the B roll included, top videographer! The sense of value versus waste is purely subjective perception, to our deficit we put too much in the 'regret' or 'unworthy' bucket. The trick is to treat every second as having it's own unique value, good or bad. I guess philosophies of old have already said that.
Great video. I do like short ones so I don't spend a lot of time on UA-cam. After I got my art degree many years ago, I continued college in a new field of Industrial Engineering at the time. Time management is so important to me, but in all my scheduling and process improvement efforts, I schedule down time to do nothing for a mental break. I am retired, schedule every day, and make each day one to enjoy and remember. One more thing. For my To Do List, that I do everyday, I often also put how long I plan to spend on each task, and do not put more tasks in it than I can do. I also schedule time to do fun things every day.
Great advice Danny!! The older I am getting, the more intentional I am with my time. Still trying to squeeze in my art time. I am learning a lot about where my priorities lie. 😅
Personally I do not equate time with money. That seems more frivolous than I have time for 👀 You can get more money. You can never get more time. That's my take on it.
It’s not about the remaining time I have - lots of people lost it young. It’s about honoring those who don’t have it anymore. I can do better. (For anyone wondering, is this just blabbering, no - I have canceled almost all my subscription streaming. I do not pay for home internet. I deleted all social media {except YT}. I do not play games on computer or phone. But I still have those “excepts” and “almosts”. And that means I’m still not even close.)
It is 9:29 am on my 22,260th day alive and I have already spent 1 hour online, including listening to this video. It only took 3 hours for you to wake me up.
As a person who believes in / hopes sincerely for eternity, I frequently remind myself that God will surprise us all, and that we will have oceans of time. So when I die, I will not end but just change locations. And it will not be boring but natural, enjoyable, meaningful, full of loving people. Just a reminder for those who have the same hope. ❤
If I had unlimited funds, I could pay someone to cook, clean floors and toilets, do laundry, make menus, grocery shop, etc etc etc. But life is made up of these things, no getting around it when hubby works all day and half the night. Art is a necessary luxury - but other things do take priority. People need to eat.
When it comes to wasting time, I would say I waste about 20 hours a day. (The other 4 include sleeping - I only need 3 hours a day. I'm a human mutation not kidding, found out I have a rare gene). Yesterday I decided, I am insane and at this rate (77 years) I better get going. I bought the Illustrated Life, so I decided no need for inspiration it's all here. Started with page one: Not a replica, my own version (featuring myself of course, loved how cute I look.) It should take me about a year to finish with the 263 pages. Love your videos. How many thousands have you posted??

Bless you for your care for your mom - you will never regret it. I took care of my mom the last year of her life and I only wish it had been longer.

Well said!
I needed to hear your message today. Thank you.
4 minutes and 31 seconds very well invested....Thank you !
Such wisdom. I never thought of converting my time to money---but boy does that sting when I do. It makes the intangible---tangible. Thanks.
