If you dub the head of the fly before you palmer the cdc it allows the feather to bite into the dubbing and not only protects it but prevents it from slipping down to the eye. You can also use a petitjean clip (this is how lance egan does it) and it gives the fly a more dense head. I like this tie too, sometimes it is nice to not mess with the clip and dubbing loop.
