A thanks to you Brian...I recently decided I needed a new hobby while on the backpacking trail. I'm a weekend warrior as I have a job and a family. I like to take pictures on the trail but decided to get back into fishing (my dad took me bait fishing many times as a kid). I watched your 14 part series on getting started and decided on a 3wt to backpack with. My first trip was a few weekends ago and I managed to snag 9 trout over 2 days. It was an amazing experience...loved every second of it. My heart goes out to Hayden...because my first fly fishing attempt was sublime. Best of luck to him in the future. But anyway thanks for the intro into fly fishing...(I love it way more than bait fishing lol)

I watch youtube videos about fishing and hunting and the equipment/techniques used for those blessed activities. Gotta say, Brian is one of the two best video presenters I've come across (no matter what the subject actually). The other is GunBlue490. They both are helpful, very knowledgeable, exacting in their explanation, politely formal (good manners still mean something), humble (a rare virtue these days), and have a great sense of dry humor. Great work Brian, you should be right proud of these videos.
Glad I stumbled across this channel, smashed the like button too. I have some great advise re: furled leaders. You need to take your furled leader, wrap it around the outstretched fingers of your hand, using the other hand get a sharp knife and cut the furled leader so you have several bits. The in your back yard, put those bits on a stone, get some petrol, and pour onto the leader, set alight and watch the ashes float into the air. Then go on youtube and learn how to do a needle knot for some butt section. Then google on how to do blood knots, and make up some leaders, blood knot on the leader to your butt section. Then learn how to do a 3-4 turn water knot (with an overhand knot at the end) for each of your dropper (or do the sliding dropper knot). After that you are ready to go fishing. And marvel as you pick the line off the water how your leader doesn't spray water like a fire hydrant (furled leaders do, of course someone will be along to say that you need half a tub of red muslin on it to stop that) :) :) :)
