Whilst I fundamentally disagree with the crime not being self defence, I understand and respect where you are coming from a legal standpoint. You’ve presented this so well and I’ve really enjoyed it. No reason for anyone to get that nasty or disrespectful. Always appreciate you sharing your opinions and doing your research, your perspective is based on your own unique experiences in life. Obviously I am going to disagree with a few things you say but that's life. We don't have to get nasty about it. I think this case is tricky just like I think the examples you described at the start are tricky. It takes a lot of courage to get out of a situation like that and I can see why someone might feel trapped with only death as the way out (for either themself or their abuser). She pled guilty to murder so I'm still so confused by some of the comments... like she's a murderer, she said she was, she pled guilty. That's it. I have sympathy for her, and I honestly think it's alright that she's out of prison. Gypsy needs to go to therapy and reflect.

What you said made sense, you were not bashing gypsy at all, simply giving your opinion, which you have every right to do, I'm very sorry you went through that just for giving a simple opinion. Like, i did not necessarily agree with all you said, however it was very logical, which is respectable and does not deserve to be bashed. My stance on this enitre case is maybe unpopular. If her mother didn't want to die, maybe she should've thought about how she raised and abused her daughter. It doesn't absolve Gypsy of responsibility, but they're both guilty. To say that her mother didn't get what was coming to her would in my opinion be a bit silly. If you're going to be a monster to your kid, nobody guarantees you that they're going to get peace and love. Good for the 13 kids that didn't kill their abusers, but, if they did, then the abusers had it coming. 🤷🏻♀️

for example, i totally see ur point about the technicalities of self defense. i however feel that a victim is most likely going to be too scared or weak in the moment and that's why they resort to when they're unconscious/unaware. if your only escape is m_rder imo that should be considered self defense. i feel that way about m_rdering your kidnapper as well. if you are kidnapped, weak, vulnerable, etc and one day you get the chance to take that person out it wouldn't be immoral at all to me and should be considered self defense. on the other hand, as you said there are very specific technicalities set in place for something like that to LEGALLY be considered self defense. thankfully, morality and circumstancial detail often comes into play in a courtroom.

I think it makes plenty of sense to care who our culture is propping up as idols. It seems to me you're also highly invested in this story, otherwise you wouldn't have been so triggered and felt inclined to write such a long message here about your feelings.
