  • I Paid $1,359 for 8 Broken Samsung Phones - Ft. Star Wars Galaxy Note 10+ This is my first time trying to repair Samsung phones but I think I did pretty well (Mostly!). I replaced the back glass on the 2 Galaxy S10 phones, replaced the camera lens on the Star Wars Galaxy Note 10+, and tried to fix the power button on a Galaxy S10e. Two of the phones didn't need any repairs and the older Samsung phones aren't worth enough to bother trying to fix. Overall I think this repair lot turned out pretty good!

About This Video: In this video I'm trying to repair Samsung phones for the first time. I bought 8 phones: 2 older ones (which I didn't try to fix), 2 Galaxy S10, 2 Galaxy S10e, 1 Galaxy S10+, and 1 Star Wars Galaxy Note 10+. I was able to repair 5 out of the 6 that I attempted repairs on so not too bad! The one I didn't fix actually ended up needing more repairs by the time I was done...but hey, that's how I learn. :-)

It seems like it doesn't matter what you are fixing, it's going to be interesting. You have got quite a bit of charisma. I'm, perhaps, not the greatest fan of phone fixing because they are so tiny and compact, and I feel like there isn't really that many things you can fix in them easily enough (profitably enough), and thus we won't be seeing so much of hunting for the faults with successful results. However, if you do film fixing them, I'll be here to watch.

Hey TronicxFix, i'm an engineer at samsung - quick tip for testing in the future, type *#0*# in the keypad for a better way to test things!
I recommend heating up tapes and pressing the IP68 phones so you get a solid stick. Theres a barometer test in the tester if you want to make sure its airtight (just make sure the sim tray is in and put tape over the rear camera, as there are tiny air vents there)
Please also remember to blur the IMEI on the sticker on the battery! people are assholes and may wanna screw you over.

@@HPad2 Yup my phone has those "recents" and back buttons, and also the home button. Even everything about the camera gives away the fact it's a J7 too.
      ------------------
The funny thing is that line of phones also has a high end and a low end. (The price range for those is low-range to mid-range. J7 Crown is low-range priced; J7 Star is more mid-range [when I got it was around the mid to high $200's]. Display may have that defect, that when dropped a certain way the display takes damage and gets a dead pixel [with a black "shadow" that encompasses the affected corner.)

From someone who works in an unnamed tech repair company (so that I don't get in trouble with my NDA lol) here some tips.
If you are going to take off an lcd don use any metal tools if you don't want it to break immediately, the same goes for the backglasses. we use the ifixit guitar picks. and we heat them up to about 75 degrees c.
On the note 10 series be EXTREMELY CAREFUL when taking off the backglass, there are ribbon cables that go up the right side of the back glass that if you nick or cut the wifi and cellular barely connect. (I know this from experience) Also, be careful when taking off the back covers as one contains the wireless charging coil and if you take it out wrong it will break and the temperature sensor for the battery is in there. it will make it so that the phone shows the error message battery temp to low and will not charge unless the phone is off. it is fixable with a new coil though if you can find the parts.
If you replace screens on any samsung try and get the ones that come with the frame. It takes out a lot of the work and your much less likely to break anything as you just have to transfer the motherboard and a few other components.
If you ever take out a battery only run it along the sides of the metal frame around the battery. the majority of samsungs have a cutout in the middle that goes directly to the lcd backing and you can and will break the lcd if you just shove your sesamo underneath the battery.
look up know issues for certain series of samsungs before you buy lots. im not gonna say what they are (that sweet NDA is scary) but there are some issues that are not fixable so be wary.

You never want to break glass more near cameras because tiny little shorts can get in the mechanism and they won't be able to move if they have ois essentially you're breaking it by breaking glass next to it

Did he have to though? I know it looked like the power button was sandwiched between the screen and mainframe, but doesn't Samsung make their buttons removable from the sides now? I don't know if the connector wouldn't allow him to pull out it through the side. But I would've taken that approach instead of fussing with the screen. Fussing with OLEDs mean certain death and it's usually not worth touching for a repair.
