I have a scratch built cement plant / cement works on my N scale layout. It pays to read and research on the various buildings and operations of loading and unloading of materials. Plus remember this company would need plenty of power. Water , storage piles and etc. They are really packed with all type of vehicles, offices, and etc .
Nice work!! You wanted to know each bldgs’ function here goes the very heavy duty structure is the raw material receiving processing and storage The next bldg high end of kiln is where all the different raw materials are given their final grind and mixed before going into kiln to be made into cement clinkers by being roasted in the kiln The last bldg is where the heat is generated for the kiln and where the clinkers come out of the kiln are cooled then ground into cement before the cement is conveyors to the silos. That shed on the side of the silos is a shipping shed for filling covered hoppers with cement for shipping to customers So another receiving area near the first bldg would be appropriate to receive open hoppers of stone gypsum and other raw materials to make into cement plus the stack should be near the high end of kiln as heat hours other kiln to make the clinkers
At the beginning of the video I was sure you were going to use that full part of the layout for the cement industry. Not an expert of course, but I believe an industry like that takes up a lot of space considering everything that it might need besides those four buildings. So in my view it feels extremely cramped in between the intermodal and that other facility. Maybe check out some Google Maps footage of comparable prototype sites.
I have the same kit on my layout too. I’ve done some extensive kit bashing and mods to it as it is my main industry love to post some pics but have no clue how to do that
You’re not going to want to store the UP varnish next to a cement plant!! If not, you’ll need to sprinkle quite a bit of cement dust on them for realism!!! 🤣
A cement plant would never have been built there. They are always built near a limestone deposit. In other words , a gravel ( limestone) pit. All by their lonesome.
I would like to see a complete tour of your layout!
There are more videos here, I have a hobo ride and a couple tours.
Very nice layout and great future plan. Looking forward to the final outcome.

That is really good food for thought.

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it.

You must have been on the good list, you got Christmas concrete. Planning look great.
Self- correction: the build of Barrs Cement is looking great. Thanks for a nice video.
Great planning and thought process share!

You are correct….. a whole cement plant needs the whole table to look appealing…. 😊 , that is what am doing .
looks nice good job
Why not move it all back further and then you can leave that whole side track to use and it might be better for the turn into the silo loading area...
