- HERE YOU WILL SEE THE FDNY BATTLING A STUBBORN 2ND ALARM ELECTRICAL BASEMENT FIRE, WITH EXTENSION TO 2 FLOORS, IN A MIXED OCCUPANCY ON WEST 52ND STREET IN THE HELL’S KITCHEN AREA OF MANHATTAN IN NEW YORK CITY.
As a long time subscriber, I really appreciate the in depth
coverage you provide. It is unique. FDNY personnel are
aware of your presence, and you seem to know many of them.
There is a mutual respect going on here between you and
department members, and your viewers benefit from that
connection. Those of us who admire and respect the FDNY,
are able to see incident coverage which is not available
anywhere else. Thank you, John.
God bless the FDNY for ALL you do to keep us safe. From the brothers of Local 94 Operating Engineers....
Another great video of operations by FDNY. I'm happy to hear the cat on the 3rd floor is okay.
John - awesome!!! These types of fires - in the wall - are nail-biting. You never know!
YES, THEY ARE INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
As a electrician in the U.K. 🇬🇧 electrical fires horrible must of the time you can prevent them be coming a major problem by the type of smell it’s like a fishy smell . It looks like to me it could be someone over loaded socket circuit in the shop . Great catch . As always watching from the U.K. 🇬🇧
Great footage and commentary, John😊. You stay safe and well.! THANK🎉
Great video. Thanks for all the explanations of some of things people ask about. I have learned so much about firefighters and the dangerous hard work they do and some of what we are seeing and hearing. I hope the FDNY know how special you are. 😊
Thank you so much John. Great seeing you filming. God bless you John , and to the FDNY who are always experts at any fire they are fighting. I love the rapport you have with the members. Mutual respect. Stay safe and healthy. 😀
Lot of work when you have to find where the fire is going. Just curious, the building in front of the command with the rounded door, is that an old fire house? Thanks again for sharing another video. Stay safe
Thank you for explaining the chirping noise at fire scenes. Appreciate all your knowledge. 👍😀
Yes thank you

Really a tough floor to get through wow. Thanks for great job covering this fire.
Fire is sneaky. Thank you John for your great coverage as always. You always know when not to speak and when to give commentary. Stay safe.
Thanks John. Beautiful windows on the second floor of the building on the right. I love looking around at other things.
Great job JJ. as always fore those that don't know what Purple K is , It's a Dry chemical used on Electrical, and Flammable Liquids, you don't here a lot about it now days it is very expensive but it dose a great job, we used it a lot back in the old days but it was a lot cheaper too Even to day its still a very effected Chemical used in the Fire Service..☮
Great video JJ. It’s nice to see the members fighting a fire not caused by an e-bike. I enjoy the little extras you throw in, like the RAC.
Great professional video as always John appreciate it stay safe brother
Whole new meaning to smoke shop. Great video as always JJ. Stay safe.
Thank you FDNY from the folks out here in Colorado for keeping all safe, great job getting a tricky situation under control.
Great coverage, JJ! It is just so impressive to watch the FDNY attack a difficult fire with Command and Control from the Chiefs and precision execution by the members I hope New Yorkers appreciate this magnificent organization .Since leaving NYC and having spent so much time in more rural areas and, without disparaging local volunteers, they simply don't have the training, Command and Control, and execution that you see with the FDNY, and that you film so well. THANKS!
Very nice! Cheers! That building next to the fire building looks like a old firehouse
It goes to show that you don't need flames for a shout to prove difficult Maj 😊
Hey John, wouldnt it be nice to be young enough again to climb up a ladder truck 5 floors and not have to stop half way for a breather.......LOL Be safe my friend!!
They did a great job chasing that fire, and very nice footage and comment John thnx.
as usual....great video and coverage.....
great video JJ
Another great video and explanations for those who don't know the fire talk. I'm so glad the cat was ok. I always think about how scared the animals must be. I usually got some good scratches trying to get mine in the carrier when the alarm went off but she was coming with me come hell or high water. Thanks.
I HEAR YA MAUREEN AND I TOTALLY AGREE AS WELL.....I WOULD TAKE SMOKEY TOO NO MATTER HOW MANY SCRATCHES SHE HANDS OUT.....HEHEHE.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
two things we see here. One is never underestimate what looks like a routine minor incident and the FDNY is superb at being thorough second great video very good narration I like the new intro nice work JJ
thanks for explaining the pass alarms.
YOUR WELCOME JAMES AND OF COURSE THANKS SO MUCH.....
Old building many chases for the fire to hide in. Great call 2nd alarm. Was that a old retired fire house next door? JJ great coverage as always. Time for coffee and breakfast 🚒👍🚒👍
Hi it's Judy it's been awhile, I was in NY. You are the best all you do. How do you get such access? I'm jealous lol. I'm going back to NY in July please take me with you 😁 stay safe.
Great video. Tight street for FDNY. Great stop by FDNY. Stay safe
it's nice they took time for the cat.
Where

Great fdny members fire in actions sir johnn❤
YES INDEED AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
Literally first person to watch love the vids
Thanks again John. Was that building an old fire station? I see the big garage type door in the middle of the building. just curious.
Hearing those alarms always brings me back to 9/11. Such a sad sound now
There shouldn’t be any PASS alarms going off…sloppy control by the members.
@@SIGINT007 How so? Do you know how they work?
@@fdMT_EnGy I know if FDNY had members do some push-ups every time someone standing around on the fire ground was in full alarm, maybe those scenes would be a little quieter.
@@SIGINT007 Oh you're one of those 'why is everyone just standing around' people. So you don't know how a PASS alarm works as well as fire ground operations. Enough said.
@@fdMT_EnGy ROFL. Found the FDNY guy…enough said. Controlling your PASS isn’t rocket science.
Units carry a portable Purple K extinguisher. We also have Purple K units. It’s a separate vehicle that Carrie’s a lot of purple K with 100’ hoses to shoot it. It’s a dry chemical. Basically a powder used to extinguish electrical fires. It’s not used often but works very well. We used to refill the Purple K extinguishers in quarters (the firehouse) but for a while they’re sent out to be refilled. The powder is very light and sucks to breath in. Crazy how they let us refill them in the firehouse
The chirping is the PASS alarm. When the air tank on their back is turned on and there’s no motion for 12 seconds it goes into pre alarm (the chirping). After 20 seconds full alarm. We have a handheld device called the Pak-Tracker. It detects PASS alarms in full alarm and the incident commander will contact that member to reset the alarm. If they don’t answer then maybe there’s a problem n it will require further investigation. There should always be a pak-tracker at the command post
Lots of moving parts to this one very stubborn fire to deal with and I love seeing the usual suspects on the job 2N2 my friend. 50:46
EPIC VIDEO THANKS
Hello John, thanks for the video and commentary and as always, awesome job. You sound like what I have, sinus issues with the throat clearing and cough. It's a pain in the a$$. So glad the cat was safe. Take care, keep warm, and be safe. BTW...any chance you can lower the radio a bit. 😉😀
Great catch John. Is that an old firehouse next to the smoke shop?
Be safe my friend.
Great video John btw we’re you apart of the fdny
🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁LION c LIKE No. 173
JJ good video . Must be a old place.
YES AND THANKS SO MUCH.....
From an observer point of view, are those road side buildings a hazard as proved now by your video, and the ladder not able to get the stabalizers out? just a thought,, on another subject can you enlighten a thick brit as to what the purple K is, is that some sort of vehicle that can supress an electrical fire without water... great cover again Pal, stay safe
PURPLE K IS A CHEM DRY USED FOR LECTRICAL FIRES THAT CANNOT BE PUT OUT BY WATER.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
I'm a firefighter myself I put my mask on even when I'm outside an or In an even it's a fully involve
👍👍👍👊👊
GREAT CATCH AND RESPONSE !!!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Can you explain how that folding table with an upright portion is used ? T
it looks like it's used to track the location of the fire fighters like a map in a war room. You can see it on the right a 27:49,
@20:40 i'm watching the members hang on to that line. do you know what the PSI is on one of those hoses? i think in one's kitchen the water pressure is around 12 to 14 pounds. i think, maybe
Hey John which old house was next door
least y’all put it out. ours needs training. neighbors house catches. they up n left it still smoldering didn’t stick around to make sure it was out. i said watching from the table it’s gonna re light you watch. twenty minutes later here they come again. i don’t know 🤷♂️ if it was owned or rented. the whole center line of the roof gone. it’s abandoned property i’m sure now it’s gonna have to be torn down. not too long ago a transformer started going no i couldn’t see it electricity ⚡️ started going on and off. 911 dispatch took forever to get on the phone who ever the lady was they must have been having a ball laughing which i ignored we’ll send someone out to check. i guess they put it out due to the zoot noise stopped and power stayed on. yea you call entergy least here they want billing info ah yea not gonna happen. i don’t have access to my parent’s privacy. or you get an answering machine that was dead. [smart].
INTERESTING STORY.....SOMETIMES THEY HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT IS TOTALLY OUT INDEED.....THANKS SO MUCH MARK.....
Were the outside eating areas there before 2020 Pandemic? If not I don't see any reason why they should be allowed now.
Smoke in a Smoke Shop. Who da thought it could happen?🤣🤣
Stay safe, John. We need your daily reports.
Why has the city continued to allow the extension of the restaurants onto the sidewalks and streets? COVID has officially been declared over and those extensions are a hazzard considering they block access to the buildings and fire equipment can barely maneuver down the streets. Makes me wonder whose pockets are being filled, if you know what I mean.
HAHAHA! I HEAR YA DAVID.....YOU CAN'T MAKE THAT STUFF UP......HEHEHE! THANKS SO MUCH.....
So a pot shop went up in smoke?
JJ could you give me the land line number of the nearest fire house to this fire? I would like to ask them if the building on the 4 side was a fire station. Or could you ask them if you have time? Thanks much!
Why do the firemen do a little shimmy shake every once in a while?
Goodmorning John and New York🫶🏻
I swear FFs enjoy breaking shit 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Should not be breathing Astrid and regardless of being outside
