A new video out on the death knights. Check out the second channel Doron's Academy for videos on history and science. ua-cam.com/channels/tZXPhZ4OQoTdb2_dPbqooA.html
Blizzard missed a HUGE opportunity in LK. The original design intent was for players to sacrifice a current character, to have it raised as a deathknight. Heck, DK cinematic even talks about how you were a hero who sacrificed them self to buy the world another day, but then nothing in the gameplay or story quests in the DK starter zone has any follow up to that opening monologue. Then when you meet the argent character in the burning church, that quest text mentions how you were both hero's and he or she thought you were dead. So Blizzard scrapped the idea after the cinematic dialogue had been recorded it, but didn't bother to fix or reference it in the game. It would have been much, much, much, more compelling to have to sacrifice a 55+ level character in order to create the DK. It also should have been a epic quest line leading up to the sacrifice, and this would have dramatically reduced the number of DK's running around in LK because players would have HAD to make that hard choice to kill that time invested, established, high level character to play this new class. It would have made the class so much more interesting because of having to made that choice to play it, not to mention the story quests in the DK starting zone would have made so much more sense!
That idea was arround when wotlk was in develop. But they ultimate scrapped it because what if thousands would make the decision and become death kinights. It would be problematic because it could drastically reduce the amount of other classes and create imbalance
Cool idea but your not a dev, so they must of scrapped it for good reasons. My thinking is that generally making a person who put time into a char to sacrifice it would be a bad idea, also people would just level a character to 55 then do it, effectively make the point that a DK starts at 55 pointless
@@mk_gamíng0609 yup. If that was how you were supposed to do it I'd just get a monk on healer spec to level 55 and sacrifice it. It would be pretty cool but not convenient.
Since my main is a human death knight, I usually say he classifies underneath 2nd generation since I also say he was part of the silver hand in life, and most death knights of that generation were primarily fallen human paladins (I've been playing him since 2008 so I'd say I've more than earned the right).

No pun intended.
The First Generation Death Knights wielded melee weapons in many of the official artworks. They also wore heavy plate armour. They were supposed to be a dark mirror of Paladins but it seemed more like they were casters in tanking gear. EDIT: Also there are accounts of Third Generations that either was not killed first but directly made into a Scourge servant and others that were kept alive and their bodies slowly died as they grew stronger as Death Knights.
You see. When a Mommy DK and a Daddy DK love each other very much. They kill a guy and 9 months later The Lich King leaves a surprise on your door mat.

Two questions: 1. You mentioned eating. But do they have to? Do the feel hunger? 2. You said that they would feel pain if the don't inflict it on others. Does that mean I have to constantly scream if I roleplay a DK?
Although second-generation death knights were mostly former paladins, some of them were also warriors. Falwyn, Marwyn, and Baron Rivendare weren't paladins in life, and I believe that Thassarian is technically a second-generation Death Knight, too. In fact, I think Thassarian was the third Death Knight raised by the Lich King, and he later participated in the slaughter at the Capital City in Lordaeron.

I haven't played wow in almost a year but DK was my main since first day of wotlk. Through the good and bad times I was a sucker for unholy. Ran the shit out of tsg or dot cleave. I have almost 15k hours on the first dk I ever made. I miss playing it but to issues irl and how the game has progressed, I haven't had the desire I once had to play. Going from pure addiction to questioning my life choices. It was for the best to call it quits but I still represent the game from a longterm perspective. I'll finish this mindless rambling by saying, "FOR THE HORDE!"...
I always thought that Arthas, DK's, Acolytes and Necromancers and such are actually living, not undead. Just using necromancy and creating actual undead.
The Lich king needed an army and the sword was so powerful that it was able to steal souls and still manage to utilize them in combat and battles. They were like demon possessed same as Arthas became after so long the dark energy is tempting. Vast amounts of power super quickly
Hey doronsmovies I have a question on the current raid of BFA. who were the restless cabal and how did they get their positions of power or more simply put who were they before they became nasty tentacle monsters
Funfact, The Sith and their lore were partially inspired by the Death Knights of Dungeons and Dragons and Dragonlance. Even the concept of a Sith Sacrifice is similar to how Death Knights is created when a Paladin or Knight commits an extremely evil crime/deed.
Imagine necromancer class, how cool it would be to be a caster with some nectoric stuff and zombie army following you something like mix of unholy and demonology warlock, ufff i would shit myself to see that
I am not really sure death knights in first generation is "generally physically weak necromancers"... They more like soldiers without tired and fear, with magical power from Orc warlock and strength from human knight.
Their bodies are rotten however and the magic that keeps the body bound together is not as sophisticated as in later generation Death Knights. I assume that's why it's stated the 1st generation are physically weak.
Did you know I caught the lich king breathing? at the very end of the wrath cinematic, right after the line "you shall be king" the LK exhales and you can see frosty breath yeah, I thought he was dead and death knights weren't allowed to eat drink sleep or anything human, so i'd assume that would extend to breathing. I don't know, not a expert in this field.
Can you make a video about how powerful and important are the players? Because the players save the world many times. Such as dh player is basically the strongest demon hunter on Azeroth, now that Illidan leave.
You mean how a Death Knight became Lich King? Well I think Arthas was considered a second generation death knight before he fully fused with Nerzul or whoever to become the lich king.
The only thing we know that the current Lich King is doing is "Preparing something even greater than Arthas had planned" or something along those lines. He says so in the DK's Class Mount quest line.
Well, yes he is. You're tasked in creating the new four horsemen for Bolvar, even defiling a corpse off of the Horde and the Scarlet Crusade. Doubt he isn't building a much greater army.
@Doronsmovies, Corrupted Arthus soul?..if only...too bad Frostmourne claimed Arthus soul as one of the first of many... Know your Warcraft 3 lore...mortal...
i was always kind of disapointed all death knights are basiclly warriors when they come from any class, could have asily had each specialization be a little subclass for warrior, rogue and mage deathknights, make hero classes more unique past just strating at a higher level and add variety, could still keep the fact there half warrior, ei mage death knights might use polearms as a melee staff
They tried that with Druid in Cata or Panda i believe. There is a spell that give different things depending on who he cast it to. It is apparantly a nightmare to balance so they give up. Making DK's endgame a bit different depending on what their OG class will be just plain nightmare.
If you mean the player, then it's because the player is playing during the time where the lich king still had power. If now then it's probably because frost dks have the shards of frostmourne as their artifact.
Late response but. Bolvars generation of death knights are actually weaker. When arthas created the third generation he instilled the endless hunger and the training regiment you can safely say was equal if not worse than illidans for his illidari and we all know how brutal that training was. Bolvars generation also chose to become death knights and they also lack the eternal hunger. Lore wise his breed is weaker than arthas's.
Can't you get banned if you use a G2A code in wow? There's that risk that the code you bought was stolen from somewhere. I mean I could be wrong but still
G2A is a gray market, meaning there is always a certain risk of buying stuff on there. I'd advice to buyers to always buy from sellers with the certified tag, then you have the greatest chance the seller is legit. Whether Blizzard will ban you for having bought stolen digital items, I cannot confirm or deny. I do believe there is an article in the Terms of Service where they state you should not buy digital content from 3rd parties.
