My Great Uncle, James (Jimmy) Lingerfelt and his wife Hattie, owned the Arcade Barber and Beauty Shops. Not sure when they took ownership but I know they had been there for several years until the arcade was no more. He opened his new Barber shop after the arcade was torn down in a building just to the north of old arcade and it was in that shop he gave my oldest son his first haircut. I have such strong memories of growing up in Sulphur Springs. Life was simple.

As a kid in the early 60s, I used to buy my split-shot sinkers there at Maves and fished in the Hillsborough River for brim. The Arcade was like entering a royal palace.
