This is such an wonderful film, filled with so much history. It is a treasure!
Thank you
This film made its debut on April 14, 1958 in the Palm Room of the Tampa Terrace Hotel. The living room scenes were filmed at the Davis Islands home of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Wooten. The cigar factory foreman was in real life a cigar factory foreman, he was played by Luis Llana, my cousin's husband's grandfather. You can see the Tampa Tribune article of April 13, 1958, along with behind the scenes photos here: www.tampapix.com/tampaflower.htm
I wish people were like that today.
I wish we still dressed like this when we step out.
Helen Davis. May God rest her in peace.
The sounds effects while the Gasparilla boat is sailing are from World War 2 footage🤔 That old cigar factory at the end is still there cranking em out.
I've seen this in color, and with different voices.
You had me...until it got a little strange at the end.
The acting is very natural.
I'm feeling a little history my dad was born in 1950 and he grew up in DeSoto Park and six Mile Creek I stories you told me once you crossed over to Soto Park where I can't is now buy motorcycle chains bicycle chainsand jump out of Cuba Isla sorta tell you I was going to the swimming pool and the other side of 275 that was a white neighborhood pcome back at me I'll give you the real history the real come down on Tampa if you ain't sure about it at me a 72 years old and a few more months
I’m from Tampa I’d like to know more about the history if you still could recollect
I know whenever I hang out with my uncle at his place I always hear a suit and bow tie, anything less = no class.
What a strange promotional video, apparently back then everyone in Tampa works at a cigar factory or building and repairing robots or is a pirate. Also if you want to score with Tampa chicks you better had some cigars in your pocket so the both of you can "relax." Bill Clinton approved of this video.
