This is 100% accurate. The feeling of early smite 2 was miserable. I’m the most optimistic person on this planet and I still was terrified this is how smite 2 was gonna be… I played a game 2 weeks ago and was mind blown. It’s 100x better than it was.
@unclientrandom5371 it was a justified emotion. Ive player quite a few alphas for different game and Smite 2s initial launch even in 24/7 alpha felt...very bad, looked bad, and felt meh. The only thing that changed it was that they actually started treating it, the way that they pitched it. Especially since year 11 in smite 1 was basically them telling us hey we dont really care about it anymore look at Smite 2 and cancelling SPL. Them changing things and putting way more people on the game and fixing the core issues changed it. Its absolutely great now
@@unclientrandom5371 negative. I’m very positive. I didn’t like the feeling of the gods. I didn’t like how I didn’t know everything. I know everything about smite. I know every single ability fire time. The post fire cds. The auto ranges. The auto types and how they feel. I am the type of person who loves knowing intricacies of anything I do perfectly. When I played week one I thought the game was going to be set in certain ways. The controls were atrocious. The ability timings were all wrong. Honestly the way I talked about the game was that there were zero similarities between the games other than the word “smite” being in both games and the gods being the same names. I thought that I was the only one feeling this way about certain things and that it would just be how the new game was so I didn’t think the things I cared about specifically would get changed at all. I knew the bugs, balance, god roster, items would all get changed but it just didn’t feel like the same game at all. My first game of smite 2 went as well as my first game of league would’ve gone. I was positive in knowing it was going to change in a lot of ways but I didn’t think that anyone felt the way I did about the feeling of the game so I just wasn’t very excited about playing it in general. But like I said I played it a few weeks ago and it was so much fun. Timings are totally different still but it feels a lot better to play and everything is really smoothed out.
With just how fast they are fixing things and correcting issues I’m honestly enjoying the game. I originally planned to go back to smite 1 for the battle pass skins, but every time I get on smite 1 playing my favorite gods, I end up just going I wanna play smite 2 now. Also good point on the damage types, I firmly believe mordred should have gotten a magic and physical basic attack and maybe something else like the bleed being magic damage ticks. Dual damage types sounds so unique and I’d love to see it explored with some, but definitely not all, gods.
I understand that people feel that Smite 2 was revealed too early, but imagine if they just kept working in the background without feedback from the player base as a whole, and Smite 2's first showcase in 2025 was in the same state as Alpha 1. They've sped up the god release schedule as well, so would have even less gods out than what is planned now. Sure we may have had another year of Smite 1 with updates, but Smite 2's development may have been worse off than it is now.
Most of the feedback was trash anyway bc they usually only listen to a tiny portion of the players that's why they usually miss the spot 😅 apart from the graphic changes and some balance stuff there's no such thing as "great feedback"
I'm one of the people who played the first weekend and am waiting until January to give it another shot. I have complete faith that hi rez will make smite 2 into the game we want. Hi Rez doesn't do much right, but they sure as hell know how to make smite.
Just putting it here as a bonus, they both megabuffed Khepri. Megabuffed, excluding the listed buffs they showcased, by making his ult timing much longer. Instead of the Kill->0.25s Ally Root->Travel to Khepri->Revive, it's now Kill->0.5s Ally Root->Travel to Khepri->0.5s Cling to Khepri->Revive. It may be a ping issue or some unintentional duration, but his Revive feels SO good, because you have way more time to reposition yourself once your ally procs the effect, making it just 😙👌.
Game is going to be significantly better than Smite 1 within the next year. I'm already sold on it. 500 hours logged so far. The new item system is awesome and I encourage everyone to take the time to learn it and experiment with some builds. The build variety is way more than we had in Smite 1 - for example Nu Wa / Zeus can be built in a number of completely different ways and perform well in different roles because of it. If they keep the progress moving at this rate I'm confident the game will be a big success
Item system is my favorite part of smite 2. Nu Wa adc for the win I'd only wished some gods got even more changes to make them more unique and interesting
It felt like just yesterday when people were panicking that Smite 2 would never be able to catch up to initial milestones for the future but now there’s actual so many signs of life that prove it still has something to it.
I have 200 hours in smite 2, it went from very meh in the early phases but right around the Sobek release the game became completely addictive to me, honestly feels like the season 5 glory days right now. Cant wait to play when I finish work every day, i haven’t felt like that about smite 1 in years.
I'm one of the ones who after ca weekend 2 kinda gave up on it for now. But i've been playing now since Baron was added and it is AMAZING! Feels so good and the limited god pool is feeling better and better. Great time to get in!!🎉
Made me so sad when I didn't see the big Baybeh up there 😭(I hope they don't rework his kit). Nemesis was a great addition and since around that time the game feels much better and is actually enjoyable to play.
I’d like to make a suggestion: Since proper Relics in Smite 2 have been VASTLY downgraded in comparison to Smite 1, I’d like to put forward the idea that we could replace the Relic we pick as the start of each match with a second and wholly free Starter Item. Trade in the activated benefits of the Relic for basically having an 8 item loadout. AND, as a counterpoint, there would also be the option to take a second relic in lieu of a Starter item. I would also like to brainstorm a reworked Relic Dagger that has both a Passive and Active effect: _Eldritch Relic Dagger_ 5 HPS 5 MPS 10% Movement Speed 25 CDR *_PASSIVE:_*_ Your relics receive 50s Cooldown Reduction. When you activate a relic or active item, your Protections are increased by 15% and you gain 10% CC Reduction for 20s._ *_ACTIVE:_*_ Toggle the second half of this item’s passive to the following: When you activate a relic or active item, your Strength and Intelligence are increased by 15% and you gain 10% Lifesteal for 20s. Kills and Assists will reduce the current cooldown by 20%. Cooldown 100._
Smite needs that long-time requested replay system. Even Predecessor has it. Also an Item viewer in the main page to read items while queueing up for a match. Things still missing from Smite 1: Custom Item Builds, custom ability level order. Wards displaying AoE on mini-map. Team god selection preview. Battlepasses not available to grind for in Smite 2
@Peavesey Cross game battlepasses that can't be progressed in both games makes no sense. Wards do not show their AoE on the minimap on console, it's just a small green diamond.
I’m convinced the people that are dooming smite 2 are just people who are afraid to lose their smite 1 progress and don’t want to move on to the future
@ then what’s the point of creating a new game? Do you see any other game that does that? Call of duty, nope. Fighting games in general like mortal combat, nope. Dota to Dota 2, nope. So why is it such a big deal for smite? If you want to the game to succeed then invest some money and with buying the new skins. Plus do you know how much unnecessary work the devs have to do to create every single old skin in smite 2? The few skins that have been released in smite 2 already look amazing and MIILLLEEESSSSS ahead of smite 1 so just give it a chance brother
Youre not wrong, theyre certainly going to make less money if they plan to do skin gambling and expensive skins that never come back to the game. They try comparing it to call of duty but call of duty dont try to charge you 100$ for a skin Its also just improved graphics, its not inticing enough like i come from games like minecraft, really could care less about graphics being perfect. Its all about fun gameplay for me, along with keeping my progress
@@HardStuckinGold i dont want smite 2 succeed. Untill they make more plans on finding more ways to repay me for all my progress in smite 1, then i hope smite 2 burns in hell. Smite isnt like call of duty where im spending 5$-20$ on some skins and dlc that you dont expect to keep for too long. Smite ask for 100$-1000$ for skins with some saying theyll never return, skins that you expect to keep. Notice how HI-Rez all of sudden decided to stop making these kinds of skins nearing Smite 2's reveal. Its almost like they know its not a good idea to not sell stuff like that if youre going to make a smite 2 and not work out a way for people to keep their skins. Then we're losing all this progress for graphics. I play minecraft, and fortnite is a popular game that took over by storm. Graphics are not that serious to start 10 yrs worth of progress from scratch.... you are going to have to do way more than that I have 0 hopes for this game, if they want investments try making sure what youre promising to people is worth it to them before just jumping in. Otherwise people refusing to invest in you should be of no surprise to you when you care only about what you want and not what they want
Something I think hirez should rework or remove altogether is prot scaling. I think the devs are already backtracking on it right now because, Hercules, Sobek and Khepri all dont have prot scaling anywhere in their kit so I'm assuming that when they release cabrakan soon he also wont have any prot scaling. They need to either get rid of it or rework the system to not allow prot scaling to turn into damage like what happened with bacchus. I have a controversial opinion: I think prot scaling should be a system that applies to every character in the game and function seperately from each gods kit. what this means is certain abilities dont have prot scaling anymore, the god itself has prot scaling. I also think my prot scaling system should work like smite 1's Lono's Mask, except you dont build it, every god just has the passive. There would be 3 tiers of prot scaling and upon reaching a certain threshold of item prots you unlock a new tank benefit, while taking a hit to your overall damage dealt. For example: Tier 1: 300 total prots = +20% crowd control reduction, -5% damage dealt Tier 2: 400 total prots = Nearby allies gain passive healing if not damaged within 5 seconds/Your heals are 15% more effective, -5% damage dealt Tier 3: 500 total prots = CC no longer has diminishing returns, -10% damage dealt I think these are fair but the numbers would obviously be tweaked, I like the trade off for the max 20% damage reduction.
Can someone explain what he mean by gods only dealing one damage type, since i know some characters scale off strength and intelligence isnt that both physical and magical 😅 ???
str and int is an entirely new system, to give more variety to different ability scalings on the same god. entirely different from the damage output type
@@jordangreco4320 From what I’ve looked at, In this case Zeus will always deal magical dmg. Even if he goes STR for his basics, they’ll still deal magical dmg.
