Unfortunately making these kinds of videos when 1. We couldn't play 24/7 to gather data, 2. The playerbase couldn't play 24/7 to get use out of them, and 3. Things were changing so rapidly, means they weren't really worth making. But now we're going 24/7 there will be a lot more of these kinds of guides coming out from me!
Just a thing about the Cdr formula. The percentage divsion is diminshing in return but the effectiveness is not diminishing in return. lets say your ability is 10s. with 100 cd rate it is 5s with 200 cd rate it is 3.3s and 300 it is 2.5s. It looks diminishing but it translates to 2x, 3x, 4x as many casts in the same time. so the number goes down less quick but it translates to the same amount of ability uses extra per same time frame. each point of cd rate is 1% extra cast per same time frame.
It is because the reduction gives less value as you continue to increase your cdr. After investing 100 cdr to get a reduction of 5 seconds you need another 100 to get a reduction of just 1.7 seconds more and then another 100 to get an additional .8 seconds. Thats a major loss in value after the initial 100 meaning going over 100 cdr is counterproductive to a meaningful build.
For people interested, the new cooldown is as an increase in uptime. If you have 50 CDR you can get a 3rd cast in the time of 2 (33% CDR in old Smite) 100 CDR the abilities van be cast 2x as fast (50% CDR) 200 you can get 3 casts in at the normal duration (66% CDR) Hope some this helps some people
I recommend doing a guide on scalings & INT/STR after the changes. We'll see if they make any more changes but then it needs to be explained properly how much it scales and on what gods in what way
Won’t it change, though? Let’s say the first meta is Hunters building STR, so then tanks start counter-building STR. So even if Hunters scale better with STR, it might become better to build INT to hit tanks harder. I feel like the ability to change is going to add to the complexity of builds and probably make it hard to keep up with the meta, if a meta is even possible? It might actually make it impossible to know how to build before a match starts? (I haven't watched enough Smite 2 content to know rather or not this could be a thing so this is more of a question based on my limited understanding)
@@Victor-rs2ws It seems to me you're confusing Strength/Int with Physical/Magical damage. Just because you build strength doesn't necessarily mean you deal physical damage and vice versa. There isn't really much tank counterbuilding to strength and int, it's not like they can build 'Strength Protections'. It's just a handful of items that might reduce enemy strength on-hit or in an aura or whatever. It won't be enough to make a full strength god want to build int and hybrid Gods will be building hybrid anyway, I don't think it will be an issue.
I do think they could have experimented with different formulas during the Betas to see if there could be any changes they could makes, this would be more of an optional thing to see if it opens up any modes or custom game options. Might be fun to see a custom game where you have no DR on movement speed or attack speed, could also be neat to see one where you have a stricter formula so you really have to build better for that but would only do that with something like a Joust map where its much smaller.
i have to say this, attack speed isnt capped at 2.5 like smite 1 and your hit chain that is less than x1 animation are more valuable for item procs in smite 1 kali for example is x1 inton 0.5 twice meaning kali compared to a thor at the same attack speed would proc a quins sais one extra time. In smite 2 since attack speed can be built higher than 2.5 a loki can out dps an anubis ult build attack speed which means you can shred tanks as well
The first weekend patch notes said the following about xp splitting and support xp… in addition to saying it “hasn’t changed from smite 1”. I’m assuming the patch notes are wrong? Split XP Bonus: +25% Teammates that split XP rewards from local NPC kills and assists get a 25% bonus to the final amount of XP they receive Lowest Level Split XP Bonus: +45% The lowest level God on each team gets a 45% additional bonus when splitting XP with a teammate
You forgot the mechanic for when my team is a bunch of people that have never played a video game in their life, and the enemy team is a bunch of Smite 1 pros.
Im really not into cooldown rate, it makes understanding what your current cooldown percent is more complicated. Every other stat in the game is a percent. Attack speed, Move speed, life steal, why did they have to change cooldown?
Protections have worked this way forever and no one complains about that. I don't think it's super important to know your exact cooldown % at all times, just look at your current cooldowns on abilities. This system is much more flexible and should make builds more diverse as you can invest in as much CDR as you want rather than just buying 40% and being done with it.
At least in smite 1 you could hover over your god to see your current percentage and if you reached the cap. They don't have that yet in smite 2 or at least I can't find it. I'm not going to pull out a calculator in the middle of a match to see if I reached my cap 😅
Haven't been following Smite 2 all that much, but seriously why do they try to sell certain mechanics as "new" and unique for Smite 2? Sure, these mechanics might not be in Smite 1 anymore, but back in the day you could've bought any item on any character and people when crit.c. Ymir or "ability based" hunters. Certain icons are also reused old art, such as that purplish eye, which was the icon for combat blink back in the day. (Yea, I get that it's the Alpha stages of the dev., but knowing Hi-Rez I am not too optimistic. They could've always just used "place-holder-icon" instead of reusing.)
Honestly, I don't know how they cant apply these changes to Smite 1. They made Smite 2 so they have more opportunities and ideas for Gods but they have all these amazing ideas for game play and don't implement it to Smite 1 that they "love so deeply".
@@BasedChadman true but easier than making another game with an engine they never used before. Still excited for Smite 2 it's big to have a 11 year old game come back with new eyes on it

I think betas and alphas are generally more fun than finished games because of how dynamic they are.
