Watched a ton of the Mach E videos and this is the first one that showed the night time welcome with the mustang logo on the ground shining from the mirror
That was a really thorough review, especially coming from the perspective of someone who hasn't driven electric vehicles before. As an EV owner (Chevy Bolt) interested in a Mach E, the only thing I would emphasize for viewers is how rare having to use fast charging is. In short, if you aren't on a road trip, you never worry about charging. You typically drive from full to 80% on most days and you wake up at full the next morning. It's incredibly convenient and makes me dread going to the gas station with my other car.
Very nice review. The only thing I'd like to point out is that charging past 80% on a DC fast charger is not any worse than charging it at any other state of charge, The car will dramatically lower the charge rate once the state of charge is over 80% to protect it. That's why it's recommended to unplug once you get to 80% unless you absolutely need the extra range - because it charges slower as the SOC gets closer to 100%.
Ordered a Mach-E Premium last night so I wanted to check outa few videos related to the vehicle. Your video here is far and away the best one on the net. Thank you for the comprehensive review!
I enjoyed your review of the Mach E. The manner in which you delivered valuable information is a testament to your professionalism and expertise. I also appreciate that you stated, "I did not want to like it!" Ford definitely knocked this approach "OUT of The ParK' with this electric vehichle. You sell this product very well - I'm becoming more and more interested in this offering.
Great summary. I personally have never been a Mustang fan and don’t come from that perspective. I really wasn’t even a Ford fan until my wife and I rented and shortly thereafter purchased and expedition to replace 2 generations of suburbans for her. I’ve been a BMW driver through 4 cars now and have been waiting for a really fun all electric vehicle. I live in an area with lots of Teslas and such, but just don’t like them and don’t think they know how to build a reliable car. So anyhow, I saw a Mach E in front of a dealership 2 weeks ago, drove one last Sunday and immediately knew it was my next car. I ordered one 2 days later and can’t wait to say a sad so long to my X5. I really think Ford is way out in front on this. Well done.
I just bought one and I frigin love it. My third Mustang and I’m so happy to have AWD, EV, the glass sunroof and truck space! Ford knocked it out of the park with the Mustang Mach e
I mean it wouldn't have any problem with it if it wasn't a mustang, but they made an ELECTRIC SUV to replace the original muscle car style, it's just weird.
This is a great effort for Ford and moves the needle increasingly towards sustainability. I’m a Tesla owner and love all of Tesla’s products but I do applaud Fords efforts.
It's not bad for a first effort. Building 50,000 units total and shipping 30,000 of those overseas in 2021 means Mach-e is indeed a Mexican-made compliance car. We all know Ford could make quality EVs and sell them in large numbers if they wanted to. This car proves that. The truth of the matter is Ford loses money on each Mach-e sold and collects ZEV credits for the few they do sell, making up for those losses since they no longer have to purchase those credits from Tesla, as they're always done in the past. Same deal as GM with the Bolt. GM dealers discount Bolt $8-12,000 just to get them out tbe door. At low volumes and with expensive battery packs, its no secret that these legacy car companies do not want to build and sell these cars. With Volkswagen looking serious about mass production of the ID/MEB cars and Hyundai Group warming up with the Ioniq 5 and KIA EV6, there will be more and more pressure on gas carmakers to build viable, mass market, NON-COMPLIANCE EVs. Until then, there's Tesla. They alone, cannot drag the big gas OEMs into the market with clean, fast easy and cheap to maintain electric cars.
I expected not to like the vehicle brother but just watching you explain the vehicle made me get intrested in it and thinking about it now I might just get one from Alabama ford
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent review I experienced one myself and this is not a “Mustang”...It’s a Mustang on steroids to the ηth degree! 💥 That 100% torque at zero rpm, 0-to-60 in 3.5 seconds, SYNC 4A and all the cutting-edge technology is awesome!!! I want one.
Damn, this thing looks better than the earlier photos made it look. We were going to shop a Model 3 for the Mrs, but this just caught my attention. Thanks for the video! Quick question, is the lane centering different from the lane keep assist that we had in F150s of recent years?
Yes. Lane keeping simply bounces you back in the lane if your not paying attention. The lane centering actively steers you to keep you in the center of the lane. Lane keeping is simply a safety feature. Lane centering is a simple form of autonomous driving.
I think that roof is too dangerous to take the road but, for inside city driving it is perfect. I'm imagining my wife and my children having so much fun with this car! This is a crazy city mom vehicle, but is so AWESOME!

Been a day to day EV driver since 2012, but also own a Vette and Ferrari. Excellent review and ordered 2022 GT w/performance package months ago with build date of 21 March 22. Cannot wait to test this out on track and on the road!! This is the future - like it or not!
At the fast charging port the charge light was blinking red, you said nothing. showing the 81% charge the screen said there was a charging station error see manual, you said nothing. why? what were those errors??? seems odd such detail but ignores important details.
Great honest video - and from a dealer no less. Glad you mentioned your height. I am the same height (and 240lbs) and am interested in the GT. Currently driving an SUV, I'm hesitant to purchase one due to the ride height and smaller profile. You looked huge in that thing! Can you even fit a set of clubs and shoes in the back? Will have to test dive the no-GT to get a better sense of if I want to order one. Thanks!
Fantastic review! I just ordered a Shadow Black AWD SR (UK Spec) a few days ago and I'm waiting for that to arrive in the coming months. This video of answered a lot of my questions about the car since I've bought it sight-unseen as they're so rare in the UK right now. I will say this, I hope Ford update the infotainment system in the future to allow you to program the physical dial. I'd rather it be temperature than volume.
It’s going to be a great car. The Ford dealers are going to have to their part to help change the majority of their customers opinions. I personally believe this car will certainly go head to head with a Tesla any day of the week if Ford and the dealer network give it the support it needs.
Study other reviews of public fast charging in Mach-e and you'll find the car has a less practical scheme in it's charge curve than Tesla or Volkswagen. Mach-e doesn't reach peak charging speed until about 15-18% and literally cuts off to nothing at 80% All well and good if you are around town, but uber frustrating when on a road trip. They found 1 hour to charge from 20% to 80% was typical. In my Tesla, I'm always keeping my pack at the recommended 15-85% most of the time. On weekends in Texas, where my family likes to take road trips typically spanning hundreds of miles - I charge up to 95-100% and the next Supercharge often finds me at 5% or below. I can be back on the road in 20-40 minutes. This is a flaw that Ford will need to work on. Kyle Conner of Out Of Spec Motoring and Bjorn Nyland in Norway found Electrify America chargers to be unreliable with an unnecessarily complex charging process when compared to Tesla.
Lack of seat adjustments is a big problem. I have to be comfortable, Power seats on both sides is a must for me. Air conditioning vents in rear also a must have.
This is kinda neat. You taught me how to use my 2015 Mustang display while I was waiting to take possession of it back in 2015. Here we are in 2021 doing the same. Except I cant afford a new car :)
So in an emergency situation(auto accident or dead battery) to which the electronics are malfunctioning. How would one open the door if the button is not working?
The key to one pedal driving is to realize that the car doesn’t coast in that mode. If you want to coast, you need to push on the pedal a little bit. It feels like you’re “feeding gas” but you are actually coasting.
Great video. I was reluctant about this vehicle but now I'm curious as to what it has to offer from a consumer coming from a gas vehicle to an all electric version. I'm also curious about the price point and trims that it may offer.
My major hang up would be that there is no remote start. I would hate to depend on my cell phone to prewarm my car. Very nice that an adaptor to plug into a electric dryer is provided. Thank you for making this video. Great review.
Love this vehicle. I ordered one!! I will be using it as my primary car, but will keep my SUV for the kids and road trips. I have no intention to use it to the point where I need to charge the car at a charging station. 57 minutes is too long and $18 is too much. These charging stations are in places where you can do something while waiting for the most part, but for now it's more of a distraction to steer you away from the fact that charging technology just isn't there to the point where you can charge your car as fast as you refuel a car. Hopefully in about 10 years we will get there!!
Do you notice that the 360 backup camera is laggy? Or the Frame rate is super low? I have test drove two Mach-E’s and in both I noticed the camera is not smooth at all and the perspective is very strange in The backup camera.
@@DK-pr9ny the mustang -premium version- has heated and cooled ventilated seats. At this price point, the mach-e should have it too. If you live in the south you'de understand the need
I love vented seats also. I have a mach-e on order. I think at this point the concern is that fans use a decent amount of current and that the decrease in range would be detrimental overall.
Yes with electric cars as well as most phones and electronics its bad for the battery to charge past 80% ford actually slows down your charging past 80 to try and prevent that. If you absolutely need the last 20% you can but in the long run you'll be getting less battery life and therefore range
Lol I laughed at the macchiato joke. Give me a cheesy joke any day of the week! Thanks for the thorough review! Getting mine in a few days and can't wait to try this all out myself.
The names on the 3 drive modes are horse terms because it's a Pony Car! I love the Unbridled! Great car so I ordered one yesterday and super review. Thanks
The main plug that most vehicles use, including the Mach E is the Level 1 - Level 2 Charger, which is called a J1772 Plug. When you flip the cover down, it uses a separate single charging cord, called a CCS Charger, which has both connections included as one plug. I was shocked to see, when Mitchell was at Walmart using the Level 3 CCS plug, that it was charging at a slow rate.
EA is still building up and building out; unclear whether that particular EA unit even approached the theoretical 150 kW/ hr max charging capability of the MME.
The 80% charging speed dropoff is not about battery preservation. The MME already has a percentage at the top and bottom of its battery capacity that is currently locked off from use; *that* helps with battery preservation. From everything out there, charging a MME to 100% will do nothing bad to longterm battery life.
We went to our local Ford dealer this past weekend to talk about our order for the big boy Bronco. Yeah, we ended up ordering the Mach-E as well. I've always liked what Tesla has done for EV, but the Mach-E is what got me in to one. The charging pad up front needs to be a touch longer too. The only things that we werent 100% happy with could be solved with a software update. Looking forward to getting this car. Thanks for the vid
The comment about the remote start of the vehicle, I have the same problem with my F350 Dually. I must use the Ford App to start remotely. Not an issue unless I am on a long away business trip for a few weeks and the truck goes into sleep mode and the user cannot use the Ford App to start the vehicle. The Ford App gives the user a message that your vehicle is in hibernation and the user must place the key in the key cylinder to turn vehicle on. If it is super cold outside I would be super ticked. But I understand the vehicle goes into hibernation mode to save the battery.
Great video as always. I have no problem calling it a mustang....when I see one of us normal folks, in a factory version (not just the special one Ken Block and Vaughn drive on a racetrack) ...do a burnout! Then it’s got the spirit of a mustang!
I was impressed enough to lease one. Won't do it again. Where I live it doesn't get that cold. When using the heater even for a short 3 mile trip sucks down 20 miles of range. That's ridiculous. Back to ICE for me.
great review. I have seen a lot of other reviews from the Mach E but still learned something new in yours. Charging speed was a little disappointing. I assume that your car comes with the small battery?
Every time somebody refers to this thing as a Mustang I just cringe. Just call it The Mach E or just something other than a Mustang. it’s not fit for the name Other than that the car seems great
Sweet car. I am definitely considering one when we replace the taurus. That propulsion sound. I am glad that can be turned off. They should have a bit of fun with it and give you a “Jetson’s” option. To demonstrate the acceleration you need some fuzzy dice on the mirror. 🤣
July 14, 2021 I saw what I thought was a Tesla Y, but saw the Mustang emblem. WTH!? Looked it up and fell in love. Never really liked the interior of the Tesla nor saw the appeal of an EV, (coming from someone who is looking to buy a Dodge Challenger and is not one for bells and whistles) but now I'm intrigued. If Ford had came out with a non EV Mach, I'd buy it. Still a little apprehensive over the charging components and the all digital console (will the car not work if something goes bonkers with the digital console? what if the firmware has problems updating?). I noticed there was no mention of the digital door keypad and the ability to open and start the car if your phone is dead and you have no key fob. Also interested in knowing the cost of maintenance, upkeep and is it worth using for road trips. Still all so new to this and definitely one of the better videos I've seen!
I can't wait until the fast Mach E drop but will Ford do over the air updates for certain features? Like horn sounds? Interior sounds? Interior lighting? and so forth
Question, you seem the knowledgeable of anyone reviewing this wonderful car. When we were at our dealer, one of the test drive Premium Mach e's was shutdown because apparently the 12V battery was dead. This made it impossible to get in the vehicle. They had the front panel on the bumper off and were trying to put enough charge to open the car but it was not working. No one really knew what to do. What can be done in this situation if this were your personal car and it happened away from home? How is the 12v battery maintained? No one at the dealership knew how to access the 12v battery.
I like this car as a mustang, its fine. Have a coupe & a 4door coupe. The only problem i can see, is people scuffing the paint with the rings on their fingers, other than that its a sweet machine.
I drove the Mach-E select which is the most basic model and I really loved it, I almost couldnt believe how fast it departures and firm it feels, I was in the market for a mustang, I have always had mustangs, I have driven the tesla and I dont know why but it didnt feel like anything special about it really, I wanted to order the premium version of the Mach but is not available till October if you are lucky, I ended up buying the bullitt but I certainly will switch over to the Mach in the future, no doubt.
That 240V plug is a NEMA14-50 delivering more power, but a home dryer uses a NEMA10--30 plug, delivering less power. Ford and Electrify America have an agreement to give 250KWH free when a Mach-e is purchased. You are right on to like silence more than fake engine noises. Nice feature is the Valet mode that can force your kids to drive the speed limit. See the five videos by Bjorn Nyland on the Mach-e for some hard numbers.
It's pertinent to note that they designed this from the ground up with Mustang in mind. They didn't just slap the name on it midway through. There are lovely, long web series with the designers and developers if anyone would like some background on it.
Excellent presentation. I do think folks will be looking for aftermarket roof shades. Even with the UV tinting, I know I wouldn't want that sun baking my bald head in the summer. This sure looks like it will be a big seller for Ford. Good job on Ford for providing a evse (charger) that runs on either 120 or 240v power.
@@TCcustoms_ gotcha, thanks! It seemed like it was charging slow. If you had been on the highway for an hour or something before stopping at Walmart, it probably would have charged a LOT faster.
Not really a fan of mustang being slapped on this but it is nice looking. Sadly, I live in a condo complex so a pug in really wouldn't work in my lifestyle but I do want a hybrid for my next car. Being able to go 50 miles on electric charge and switch over to gas would work for me.
At 20,000 units per year for N.America and 30,000 units for the rest of the world - IT IS a compliance car. Plain and simple. Made in Mexico. Tesla made in USA. Slap a Mustang logo on it, who cares? When will Ford get serious about competing with Tesla? The DC fast charging experience with Mach-e at Electrify America charging stations (paid for by Volkswagen in the settlement over Dieselgate) is not a simple process. With Tesla Superchargers, not only do Superchargers charge faster, but it consistently works. Plain and simple. You plug in, charge, leave and your card is billed. No muss, no fuss. With EA chargers, its a hassle. Swiping cards, confusing buttons and info screens on the fast chargers washed out by the sun. Mach-e's charge curve cuts off at 80% at public chargers and slows to a creep. Unless you pay extra, you don't get a plug and go experience. Mach-e does not pre-heat or pre-cool the battery pack on your way to fast charge. This makes fast charging the Mach-e painfully slow in colder weather. Interface. Ford sends you an email saying you must drive the car to the dealer for a software update. Then, the promised update gets delayed 30 days. Teslas update regularly in your garage, adding features and improving the car while it sits at home. The Ford user interface works like Windows 7 and Teslas' works like the latest iPhone/iPad. The Ford system has endless menus - page after page. It's not intuitive. Tesla's Autopilot just works so much better than Ford's system. Ford sells you a promise, that their Autopilot competitor will be available sometime in the future. At the present moment, Ford's Lane Keep Assist and ACC is half-baked. Example: Out Of Spec Motoring's Kyle Conner found out the hard way that in inclement weather, Mach-e's distance feature shuts off without warning the driver! It ran up on cars at 80mph and would have ran right into the car ahead had he not been attentive and swerved into the next lane or hit his brakes! Kyle has driven the Mach-e across America. Ford's systems are not tried-and-tested. No games for the kids. No streaming Netflix and video. No web browser, no Sentry Mode, no Traffic Cam, no Sentry Mode (with 8 360 degree cameras), no Dog Mode, Romance Mode or... ... ...You get the idea. Ford is planning an electric F-150. Another uber-expensive smokescreen that Ford will build in teenie tiny numbers to say they are green and comply with CARB and EPA zero emissions mandates. Not unlike the $120,000 GMC Hummer EV. Meanwhile, the Texas-made Cybertruck has 800,000 pre-orders and starts at $40-49,000! Ford, GM and Toyota better get their acts together with EVs or get left far far behind. I REALLY WANT Ford and GM to get serious about building and selling electric cars and making them in the USA. This stuff is not inducative of a serious effort.

We’ve driven 80000 km on road trips in our 8 year old Tesla. Easier than gas and free
@@smartelectriccar free? you must have free supercharging...most folks do not have this.
Will the updates be free of charge? Or there will be a cost associated with it?
Do you notice that the 360 backup camera is laggy? Or the
Frame rate is super low? I have test drove two Mach-E’s and in both I noticed the camera is not smooth at all and the perspective is very strange in
The backup camera.
I am not a FORD fan. Your video was great. You covered everything quite well. I may go check the MACH-E out myself.
You'll love it. It's attractive inside and out. Nice handling and performance. I think of it as a hatchback similar to the Stinger.
Thanks for this comprehensive review. I am sold.
Superb video, so useful to any one considering buying this car. Many thanks indeed.
Your website takes you to the BDS lift kit give away that's already been given away.. lol
So glade they covered all the bases... neat & cool, good looking & attractive.
30 minutes 😳 now I know why these things are at Walmart’s and Target’s. They need these at gyms now
This car really needs vented seats. I use vented way more than i use heated seats
Remote start and cool down the cabin
@@DK-pr9ny the mustang -premium version- has heated and cooled ventilated seats. At this price point, the mach-e should have it too. If you live in the south you'de understand the need
@@GM-qt3bm It must be an EV issue as none of the Tesla's have them also.
I love vented seats also. I have a mach-e on order. I think at this point the concern is that fans use a decent amount of current and that the decrease in range would be detrimental overall.
Is the battery damaged if you let the machine charge more than 80%?even at home is it better not to pass 80%?what do you suggest?
Yes with electric cars as well as most phones and electronics its bad for the battery to charge past 80% ford actually slows down your charging past 80 to try and prevent that. If you absolutely need the last 20% you can but in the long run you'll be getting less battery life and therefore range
Very Nice video, i am dutch and must wait still 8 till 10 weeks before i can play the mach e
Most detailed video yet. Great job!
Great video, great car. Ordered mine. Lots of great EV's coming out this year, but for me this looks the best.
I have no problem calling it a mustang....when I see one of us normal folks, in a factory version (not just the special one Ken Block and Vaughn drive on a racetrack)
...do a burnout! Then it’s got the spirit of a mustang!
This is really helpful! I live in the Idaho Rocky Mountains how does the extreme cold effect the battery? What are the warranties like on it?
Def gonna get less miles that’s for sure
Our EV is 8 years old and still goes 250 miles per charge. Best cold weather car we’ve ever owned here in Canada
We had snow and freezing rain this week. The car doors were frozen. How do you get them open with no handle?
I was impressed enough to lease one. Won't do it again. Where I live it doesn't get that cold. When using the heater even for a short 3 mile trip sucks down 20 miles of range. That's ridiculous. Back to ICE for me.
great review. I have seen a lot of other reviews from the Mach E but still learned something new in yours. Charging speed was a little disappointing. I assume that your car comes with the small battery?
Every time somebody refers to this thing as a Mustang I just cringe. Just call it The Mach E or just something other than a Mustang. it’s not fit for the name
Other than that the car seems great
What's the heat and A/C like? Nobody has covered the performance, just mentioned them.
That blue gt500 just chilling in the back lol
JOSH DID NOT BLUR THAT!!!
Very well explained, and different enough from what others have said. Very good info...
Nicely done, Guv'Na... Spot on!!!
Loved how you Hank hilled that
Awesome video!! Never seen this channel before very good job!!
Welcome aboard!
DC fastcharge, 57 minutes & got only 131 miles, when reach 100% will take 2 hrs? (Remember the charge rate will drop dramatically when it passes 80%)
I like this car as a mustang, its fine. Have a coupe & a 4door coupe.
The only problem i can see, is people scuffing the paint with the rings on their fingers, other than that its a sweet machine.
Cool Gen 2 Explorer rolled by
I drove the Mach-E select which is the most basic model and I really loved it, I almost couldnt believe how fast it departures and firm it feels, I was in the market for a mustang, I have always had mustangs, I have driven the tesla and I dont know why but it didnt feel like anything special about it really, I wanted to order the premium version of the Mach but is not available till October if you are lucky, I ended up buying the bullitt but I certainly will switch over to the Mach in the future, no doubt.
Do you guys currently have any in stock ?
That 240V plug is a NEMA14-50 delivering more power, but a home dryer uses a NEMA10--30 plug, delivering less power.
Ford and Electrify America have an agreement to give 250KWH free when a Mach-e is purchased.
You are right on to like silence more than fake engine noises.
Nice feature is the Valet mode that can force your kids to drive the speed limit.
See the five videos by Bjorn Nyland on the Mach-e for some hard numbers.
You do a pretty good Hank Hill. You sure you're not in Arlen, Texas right now?
Thank you for folding the seats down!
Alabama Ford! nice in depth review
It's pertinent to note that they designed this from the ground up with Mustang in mind. They didn't just slap the name on it midway through. There are lovely, long web series with the designers and developers if anyone would like some background on it.
Ford Mach E wow!
Is that the standard onyx black? Looks way better than on the website build your own car thingamajig
Hey Mitchell, were you doing much driving before you plugged in at Walmart or did you go there straight from the house or lot?
No the video was shout out of order and over the course of 4 days. That’s why the remaining range was all over the place
The screen has a very noticeable lag. i hope its just the video
