Hathras, one year later: Fighting a case, living as neighbours

- Last September, Asha, a 19-year-old #Dalit woman, was gangraped in Uttar Pradesh’s #Hathras. She died soon after, and her body was forcibly cremated by the #UPpolice.
Four Thakur men have been arrested so far, and the trial is ongoing. Despite Asha’s family’s pleas for the case to be transferred out of the state, this has not happened.
One year later, Newslaundry returns to Asha’s village in Hathras. Her family still lives opposite the families of the accused, with 40 CRPF personnel standing guard. Eight CCTV cameras have been installed in their home, ostensibly for security purposes, though it also means the family lives in a jail of their own.
So much has changed in this tiny village, though much remains the same. Watch.

This is the reality. What hurts is that people don't seem to realise until we don't stop castism, Hinduism cannot go ahead. Castism and treating women as property are the malignant on hinduism.

I feel the security is necessary for the family. What if someone attacks their family and runs away?
At the same times it's a shame that we people need to wait for so long to get justice. The justice promised by our constitution.
Absolutely. It's rather commendable that they are being provided with this security probably because they don't want a repeat of Unnao and more so because this case has been a highlight of the media.
But it also reflects the level of danger rape victims and their families face especially when different castes are involved. People denying the prevalence of caste system should be made to watch these videos to hopefully break their urban delusions.
I think safest step for them to take right now is to get rid of this village if possible then maybe the state itself.

How many officers from Administration are suspended in CBI investigation ? it's happens normally if CBI is involved and we saw how Police officials to DM what they did to this Case
