Hi Claudia, crooked house is one of my favorite Agatha Christie’s stand-alone books. I loved the distinct characters and even though I read it, I will come back to your thoughts about it after I read it again. Aloha friend.

I thoroughly enjoyed Crooked House. I also got major Knives Out vibes. I never would have guessed the killer in a million years! I have also read the Christie books and this one might be my favourite.

When I was young, I read a lot of her books, and some were terrific (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd), some were woeful (Hallowe'en Party). Agatha Christie was still alive and was NOT considered a great writer. Her plots had become very mechanical and her characters very stereotypical. I think her inclusion of working class characters and young people meant that her snobbery (expressed through her characters) was more on show. I read "Nemesis" a few months ago, and one character was suspected of a violent crime because he was a young man with long hair!
In the past few years, her popularity has increased because she's been (wrongly, in my opinion) re-categorised as "cozy" with a "z".
I had decided only to pay attention of her pre-war books, but I might extend it that to 1949!

Love that book. Can also recommend the 2017 movie with Max Irons, Glenn Close and Gillian Anderson

Agatha Christie wrote in her autobiography that _Crooked House_ was one of her personal favorites of her novels. I loved it. Quite shocking with an interesting cast of characters.

I liked this book. As is usual with me I not only didn’t guess/deduce who the killer was and in fact tried to talk my buddy reader out of their correct deduction. I love most mysteries because se of that surprise that I always get.

The thought of you trying to convince your reading buddy that they're wrong is hilarious 🤣 I can only imagine how smug they were when all was revealed.
