I am astounded that nobody mentioned the cover of Frank's album "Absolutely Free." One of Frank's credits on that album is...you guessed it... "collage." In fact, I think the line drawings on that album cover even look remarkably similar to the line drawings in the collage featured here.
Extremely interesting. Frank's music is all about percussive syncopations. He has many compositions that are written as drum/percussion pieces first, then have the melody and/or harmony parts added, with his composition "The Black Page" being the most obvious piece. So the subject of this collage is most fitting. It is something that was close to Frank's heart.
Frank Zappa did the cover art for the 2nd Mothers LP "Absolutely Free"...durrrrr.. The image credit on the lp is Frank images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/61PrXHBffTL._SX466_.jpg
I just realized at the end when she said it's a recreation of Pro Drum, why the word drums is backwards. It's the front window of the store facing the street.
Simple answer to your confusion. FZ didn't do any artwork on any release until his very sick/dying days. All the LP's released never had it - almost all done by Cal Schenkel - and the very later CD's that had some of his artwork in the booklets were not well-known outside of the hardcore fan community.
@@brianhammer5107 No, the original album cover included, albeit not all releases have the same cover. FZ was unhappy with the art direction on Freak Out! and took control of it for the second album.
In case u haven't seen it, the AXS Channel (on Direct TV) has a show called Classic Albums that features FZs Overnight Sensation. Check it out if u can!

I agree. I've been a Zappa fan for years and it practically screams Frank Zappa. Looks just like Absolutely Free
Absolutely Free album cover (backside) contains extremely similar collage, by FZ, according to liner notes. I agree with Gail, definitely by FZ!

Not only entertaining, but also featuring very cool and very rare newspaper clippings of Zappa as a youth. Check out 2:29 - 2:40 and 8:14.

That was awesome and intensely interesting from a complex genius.
So she goes and talks to a guy that plays a record that FZ did the artwork for... and he says he had no idea he was a visual artist.
Yeah I thought that was peculiar too....
I was just about to say the same thing.

I fucking love Frank Zappa if they were to ever make a movie about him i would literally lose my mind

Regardless of who created it, it's a great piece. It's an incredible bonus if it was done by Frank. Treasure it forever.
Frank's first wife still has a painting that he gave her.
He never had a number one hit song. Yeah Gwen neither have you. Thanks Bobby Z.
Its "air sculptures" not sound sculptures
Sorry, of course you're right. must have been some correcting software.
