Now this is how you present an iconic estate like this. From the initial entrance gates to the front door entry down to the choices of music. It depicts the true magnitude of grander of this fine specimen of a home. Well done Josh.
Hi Josh , So beautiful from a bygone time of old ,these estates need to be preserved and cherished. So many houses have been destroyed in preference of white boxes I love the way you treasure these beautiful buildings thankyou Josh❤
Josh , you were the right person to be hired for the massive job of finding a buyer for such esteemed estate. Your style of timeless elegance presented with light, casual flair makes you the beloved realtor of USA! ❤🎉
Definitely not my style, but I would take it in a heartbeat over the newer mega mansions on the show. Definitely shouldn’t be torn down. At most redecorated.
As an architectural designer, there actually is much contemporary lighting being utilized here as part of the design. Modern LED’s possess so much great technology that enables a great lighting designer to effectively hide or minimize the visibility of the fixtures, as well as choose the intensity and color temperature, so that you rarely notice the lights, rather, you are aware of the objects and spaces being lit and the mood conveyed.
This is something very different, wow! I love how you gave a tour and let the estate speak vs being a realtor and talk us through it! Absolutely stunning! Thank you for the upload! 🙏🏼
JF is the best realtor for this property as he fully appreciates it, every other realtor would have been walking around spilling endless adjectives and buzzwords.
The video is amazing . It showcased the home lovely... Its a magnificent charm is show stopper. This is really an iconic home. Josh Flagg is the right person to sell it. Love the passion he shows for refined architectural homes...
I've actually been to his house for party and let's just say I walked into the pool house which is bigger than most people's homes and thought it was the main house. The grounds are simply unreal, it's a good video but it doesn't really capture for lack of a better word the massiveness of the grounds.
Incredible. The house is so elegant and friendly compared with that sky-high value. It's wonderful to know about this amazing property on earth. Thank you for sharing.
Well done Josh! What a treat seeing inside! It is the only home in Los Angeles that is almost completely surrounded by a golf course fairway. It is like a large island in the middle of the one of the nicest golf clubs in the country. How opulent.
I always wondered what grand pa Hilton's house was like.... this did not disappoint. amazing estate. Can imagine the memories the iconic family would have had here. the pool yard and guest house reminded me of the hotel in my city ! (Australia)
I'm an independent Professional Photographer here in the midwest and I've shot lotsssss of magnificent historic homes in the area and know what I'm talking about when it comes to truly exquisite houses and estates. This is definitely in that category, however "the most important" home in the country is ridiculous. A important, stunning & historic home, yes, "THE" most important, no. Very nice job on the video though with no narration.....the music was perfect and no narration let the photos do all the talking.
Mr. Flagg it was delightful seeing how the 1% lives. I was wondering who composed the music it was beautiful. Wish you many success in the sale of this precise home.
A wonderfully minimalist video of a truly spectacular estate. My only qualm would be those two huge covered metal verandas on the top floor of the rear elevation; they give it the air of a vast gas station
Just think...... whoever buys this Estate,...is probably going to spend at least 5o million in Updating and Renovation! That's Big Money 😊.... Beautiful Estate and Beautiful Video Production....❤😊
The current owner, Karen Winnick, the wife of Gary Winnick (former CEO of Global Crossing who passed away in Nov. 2023). The Winnicks bought the home from David Murdoch (owner of Dole Food Co.) for $94M in 2000 (the highest price in the US at that time) and spent $40M+ to restore the home to its original state. FYI - a restoration returns a home to its original condition with no changing to the floor plan or layout of a home, while a renovation involves changes to the configuration of a structure and/or adding space to a structure. While the architecture and interior design of the home are from another era (the 40,000 sf mansion was built in 1938), but the restoration has the home in the same condition as it was when it was completed in 1938, which I can attest to as I have been a guest there several times. This is the type of important historical property that an owner would restore to its original condition vs. renovating a home like this. Renovating to make this home look more modern would be like painting over the Mona Lisa. David Murdoch, the previous owner, purchased this home in 1980 from the Estate of Conrad Hilton for $12.5M, the highest price ever paid in the US at that time. Conrad Hilton bought this home in 1950 for $225,000, which was a fraction of the original $2M+ cost to build it in 1938.
For 195 mill, do you get a membership at Bel Air Country Club?? Just curious, since I am a golfer and no longer working. I am short by 193 million FYI.. Awesome video and presentation.
Membership at Bel Air CC is comprised of those who couldn’t/wouldn’t be able to become a member at Los Angeles CC, which is thee most exclusive club in SoCal.
I was in this estate several times after Mr. Hilton passed away. What happened to the furniture that had remained as part of the house from its founding owner, it was stunning?
Property taxes in California are 1% of the assessed value of the home. Purchase price is the initial assessed value and thereafter increases to assessed value are limited to increases in the CPI regardless how the market balue of a property may increase.
Josh this is truly a spectacular house that I’d buy in a heartbeat, I’m just missing one crucial thing…..$191m to purchase it! I do think you ought to though, I think you suit this house x
Kind of smallish.. but its very nicely done and it has allot of history.. And the lot is to die for.. I bet in 1937 this was the largest House in the World!
40,000 sf is smallish?!?!?! I’ve been in this home several times and the scale of the interior rooms are every bit as large and grand as the White House.
I'm will to bet that none of the people making comments are looking for a $195 million estate, or that any of them have a $100 million listing...just sayin" Also, don't know about membership, or HOA, or whatever it's called there, but looks to me to be about 10 full time servants needed. Let's face it, those people are not shopping on UA-cam. Thanks for showing us Josh, we'll never get to see these places otherwise. You really need to do a film series on Old Hollywood Architecture, before it's all gone, please?
You could not possibly be more right. I've been in the real estate industry for 14 years and billionaires are the only micro, MICRO audience for these psychotically priced & over valued properties. And there's never been more of those billionaires simply hiding their (corrupt??) hundreds of millions of dollars in places like this and NOT living in them than now. Verrrryyyyyyy f'ed up industry and day & age.
It's quite a home, but the most important? I beg to differ. I know of a home that who's site was selected in 1791. Families took up residency before it was even completed. The residents lived there on average 8 years. It was burned down during the war of 1812. It was rebuilt, and expanded, and it received its first renovation in 1902 and then again in 1952. I confidently say it has seen more important guests over it's existance that any other residence in the United States. It has 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms over 6 floors and contnues to be a living example of the history of the United States. If you want a tour, the address is 1600 Pennsylvanie Ave NW, Washington, DC. No argument that Connie's house is magnificent, but not the most important. The sales commission is, but not the home itself.
Superb house. Not seeing bedrooms or bathrooms. 1. Wanted to limit the staging budget to the ground floor perhaps as well as needed a re-design? 2. Not seeing the bathrooms must be because they are all need to be gutted due to the old 3” square porcelain tiles everywhere with old grout. The current owner listed the Casa back in late spring 2023 for over $250M. Now with Flagg having the listing since June ‘24… I hope he has better luck due to his knowledge.
Appraised it before the renovation. Amazing then, even more so now. Greenacres and, of course, Owlwood are on par with this estate, although a bit dated. (Appraised them as well.)
The most important house in the United States is the house that is used to shelter the poor who have no home. This is nothing but an empty shell made pretty to distract those who dwell there from the plight of others just a few miles away.
I get what you're saying. But, I don't know....maybe nothing wrong with wealth if gone about w/ soul. I wonder if the new owners could do both... live in, preserve and enjoy this historic home while using other funds to provide housing and nourishment for many in need. Now these creative people would be expressing their good hearts in a multitude of ways. Sounds like a perfect world, but who knows.

This home has twice set the record for the highest price paid for a home in the US: David Murdoch (owner of Dole Food Co) paid $12.5M for the home in 1980 and Gary Winnick paid $94M for the home in 2000 and subsequently spent $40M+ on a complete restoration of the home.
Terrific Tour. You let the property speak for itself.

Thank you Josh for your discreet and minimalist style. Using great videography and music, you allow the property to speak for itself.
Shout out to Josh for looking younger than he did 15 yrs ago 👏
Lol, you crazy queens
Agreed. Grand elegance at its finest, with spectacular beauty.

No massive spec house can replicate the providence and history of an estate like Casa Encantada. The house and grounds are truly spectacular.
Am I the only one that thought “meh” lmao obviously luxurious and grand but kinda tacky to me
@@michaelturley8222 The structure is a bit past its prime. The grounds are beautiful.
You mean provenance?
But it's old and outdated, the land can stay but the house should be torn down
Definitely not my style, but I would take it in a heartbeat over the newer mega mansions on the show.
Definitely shouldn’t be torn down. At most redecorated.
Josh and the EM Team have created top quality Film! Thank you 🎬
thank God they didn't destroy the interior with contemporary lighting . It's very well done. Exceptional ‼‼

Omg, I will never watch any other agent on tge internet show a house...Josh, this was spectacular...Bravo
Josh shares my love for timeless elegance. We both should’ve been born in a previous time era
JF is the best realtor for this property as he fully appreciates it, every other realtor would have been walking around spilling endless adjectives and buzzwords.
Agreed! Josh Flagg: Real Estate Historian!
Wow….!!!!!! Double WOW! I love how you describe the historic significance of the house. Stunning.
Epic house Josh!!!! Only you can pull off these beautiful houses!!! Well Done!! 👏👏
Well done Josh. This one has it all.
Thanks for letting the house and property speak for itself. Unlike most real estate UA-camrs who annoyingly spew about what stove the house has etc.
The video is amazing . It showcased the home lovely... Its a magnificent charm is show stopper. This is really an iconic home. Josh Flagg is the right person to sell it. Love the passion he shows for refined architectural homes...
Wow. This is incredible on every level.
Nice history, nice acreage, no neighbors…….but I can’t even IMAGINE the maintenance on a property like that!!
If you have to ask, you can't afford it. Nor me.

Love Josh and enjoyed when his grandmother was on the show, fantastic lady with her lipstick 😊
Absolutely stunning Josh. Nice presentation

The architecture is outstanding! Thank you for sharing, Josh,
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for the tasteful tour. This is how house tours should be. Kudos! I don’t want to hear an agent telling what I can see for myself!
You give me 200million dollars and I’ll give you a money pit the owner is currently trying to chew his own arm off to offload on the next sucker
Unless you're a multi-billionaire
Great video Josh. Thanks !
Stunning! A privilege to see it.
Beautifully crafted video of a magnificent home. Even the music used was great (Ravel String Quartet). Good luck, Josh with your sale.
All of the furniture was custom made for the home when it was built. When Hilton purchased it, he kept it as it was. And he only paid $250k.
Peter Marino just re-imagined the new Chanel boutique on Rodeo Drive.
Thank you for the tour and the great Ravel Quartet
Tremendous. Absolutely stunning Josh.
Spectacular presentation of this estate!
An elegant masterpiece.
Wowww stunning home!!
This estate belongs to the house keeping and Gardner's. They are the ones there day and night looking after all . Thanks to them ❤❤
Beautiful! Please do a longer tour or have Enes do a tour of this beautiful estate.
Does it come with sprinkles?

Very well done to let the home speak for itself. We don’t need some over hyped realtors talking like they’re at a Las Vegas prize fight.
