That last kill was cold as all hell. After everything she went through, and the guy cutting his eye, she just shoots him outright during his emotional speech. Almost makes the last death even more tragic to see.
This wouldn't be the 1st time I've seen the game of "would you rather" turned deadly if you remember an episode of regular show where Mordecai, Rigby, Eileen, and C.J played that game in which "would you rather's" question for Mordecai resulted in him and Rigby getting trapped in a port-o-potty set to be taken to a nuclear testing site where port-o-potties are being blown up by a government laser
I'm gonna say it: I would've done the same. No way I'm going through all this fucking crap just for two of us leaving without any money. If that was the price, I could've stayed at home in the first place and not even be severly injured, so yeah. I'm gonna shoot the other person and go home with the dough, sorry.
I think that's actually why she killed him at that moment though. She had probably already resigned herself to do it and hearing his own tragic story would have just made it even harder on her after she pulled the trigger.
If you look carefully at the start, you can see that when she leaves, her brother is in the same position that she finds him in during the end - meaning she didn't even have to go in the first place if she checked on him as he already had died. Twisting the knife even more. Horrific.
That's one of the reasons why I could only watch it once - so many things could have been avoided and prevented, and you ended up feeling horrible for every single character in this movie, except for the host of course.
That ending ALWAYS shocked me. When I saw Raleigh lying in bed like that, I thought he died succumbing to his illness. When they reveal he's dead but show empty pill bottles next to him, my jaw dropped realizing he took his own life. This was a tragic and shocking ending but give major props to the cast & crew for the film.
This movie left me feeling so empty and miserable for hours after watching it. Having lost both my parents (one of whom died of cancer) I can understand where Iris was coming from, but the ending was devastating. I don't think I'll ever watch this movie again, just like with The Mist - once is enough.
I watched this movie super late, and I think I finished at something like four am. I was tired as hell, but I had to immediately watch something else because of how I felt.
@@EnclosedPoolArea Having sympathy for someone doesn't mean you're letting them off the hook for any wrongs they've done. It just means you have a basic level of empathy, jack*ss.
I like this movie because of all the devastating turns it has. Cal dying when everyone fights back, Barden ALMOST succeeding to rescue Iris, Iris shooting Lucas before even letting him talk, and don't forget Iris' brother at the end. It really separates itself from what movies usually do (a happy ending, a successful rescue). It reminds you that the good guys don't always win.
As a recovering alcoholic, the scene with the decanter really ticked me off and made me hate the villain in the movie. I literally had to take a couple minutes to just sit and process what I was watching, as I know how hard it can be to stay sober. Props to the director for making a villain really easy to dislike.
10:43 we talked about this in our Holocaust Studies class junior year. My teacher called it a "choiceless choice". The idea is that if both options end in death, it's not /really/ a choice. In a lot of these peoples' cases, it's either go to a sketchy dinner and worst case scenario be kidnapped best case scenario have all your financial problems solved OR go into poverty and spend the rest of your life fighting for not only your survival but the survival of your loved ones. It's a choiceless choice, and as we noticed in class, 9 times out of 10 people won't go down without a fight. self preservation and all that
This was so sad cause Lucas really wanted to escape you can see he regretted everything near the end then when he realized she was gonna shoot he looked so sad and tried to talk about it- that’s honestly the saddest movie death I’ve seen
@TheWaffleStudio Wish it was sad, unfortunately comedy not tragedy. It would have been sad if the brother was alive, then she offed herself out of guilt one day and he was left alone. Unfortunately we got to see a nobody in the film do it.
@@CatGamer-wc2ij well, I can’t say if it was a bad movie due to how much it seems to have stuck in your head and how you really feel the need to explain the ending, bad movies tend to be a ‘watch and forget’ kind of deal, with maybe a few jokes. Also, I feel that the foreshadowing of the ending was pretty obvious, at least from what I’ve seen, and that the tragic ending is the house winning, her brother being dead just proves the suspicions that she was doing it for nothing. TL;DR I feel like the ending was Dramatic Irony
@@Serrifin oh it didn’t stick at all. This kill Count reminded me lol. James’ stuck in my head ♥️. But all lighthearted humor aside, yeah the ending was completely forgettable so by your own statement, it therefore must be crap. As for explaining it, I’m more annoyed at people who like things like Baby Shark 🦈 and this movie. We’ve become so dumbed down we love average, and I was castigating the audience rather than the movie, but politely.
The ending of Would You Rather is soul crushing. After putting herself through hell for her brother, she comes home to find him dead. It's such a great movie, but damn, there's a good reason why I have only seen this movie twice.
@@LilliRo15 one the kid had no sentimental value to the audience because he wasn’t a strong character. Two, his death was very expected. Three, it was for shock value. Four, it was silly overkill. They should have had her die from a falling brick too, and some kittens run over. It would have been tragic if she got him better but offed herself out of regret.
i know james says kill counts dont replace watching moves but for movies like this I appreciate it because I would never sit through this bummer of a film otherwise lol
I just realized how painfully ironic Amy's death was, at the end of the video. Her daughter drowned to death because her husband did it. And she suffered the same fate because someone else forced her.
I watched this on Netflix and it was really entertaining, but man that ending really broke my heart…she went through all that, finally thinking she was saving her brother, to come home and see that he “self-deleted” I mean her screaming “what did you do?” Over and over again was so haunting to me
'Fun' thing: You can see him slumped over a little when she leaves to go to the place, implying he'd 'self deleted' before she left, and she didn't notice. Possibly could have saved him if she's noticed rather than running off for the money
I know it's kinda sick but the fact that she betrayed the guy right as he begun talking about why he was there and her reason for being there dying because she took the easy way out in the first place felt earned.
As someone who isn't huge on horror movies, I can't believe that I've found myself actively and intensely excited for each and every upload from this channel! You've done a great job with this series man
This film hurt my soul. As someone who struggles with mental health and also a physical disorder, alongside financial hardship stemming from these things, this movie just hits me on a whole other level. It was fantastically made and the ending devastated me. I often rewatch films I enjoy but this one I can’t bring myself to rewatch because of how hard it hit me. Props to the directors, writers, and actors for making a masterpiece so jarring that I, a horror buff, can’t even stand to watch this kill count.
Fun Fact: This movie came out the same year as Pitch Perfect, another movie Brittney Snow had a major role in. How does one do two completely different roles in the span of a year?! Especially considering this movie's downer ending
@nijuo joing And he also voiced Ratchet in Transformers Prime (aka arguably the last decent Transformers show), as well as the Leader in the under-appreciated Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! Combs has made quite the name for himself in the world of voice acting, suffice to say!
I've watched this movie about three times and, honestly, it's probably one of my favorites. I love the message, the tension building and just general plot. It's so easy to absolutely despise the antagonist and that's without all the special supernatural details of most horror movies.
Having the extra detail of former movies with the same count and ratio is a great addition! I would love to see more random bits of information like this in the future.
This horror movie definitely feels more real than whatever ghost movie recently came out. The old rich villain is genuinely evil, and the worst part is he would probably face no punishment because he would likely just bribe his way out of the slammer
My main grip with modern day horror movies is how the general viewer mostly only knows about ghost or supernatural movies thanks to the Nun and other movies as well. There can be other sub genre horror movies but marketing prefers to advertise those ones instead of the others and it grinds my gears
@@abrahammesrajecorrea2349Agreed. Those movies also push a huge religious backing too. Specifically the Conjuring series. It’s so obvious that they’re trying to turn the masses into Christians, it’s painful. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good scare, but I roll my eyes whenever the Warren’s show up and make the magic boogeyman go away with…… words. Then, the movies that do talk about politics and capitalism being shit, they are always written and directed by lib rich capitalists. Their movies always come off so phony and cringe.
@@antisocialal4799the exorcism stuff is so cheesy in any movie and also annoying. hate when people just yell and the movie frames it like ‘wow!! hes doing it!! its working! so brave!’ its so corny
This channel has singlehandedly expanded my willingness to watch films I wouldn't otherwise watch. James and Chelsea are truly unique in this over saturated UA-cam market. They're independent, creative and have impeccable taste in horror. Whether it be serious, 'elevated horror' or fun going slashers, they never cease to amaze on the consistency or production value of their Kill Counts. These two belong in the film industry, charging what they like. But we have the pleasure of enjoying their content for free! Must we remember that. Please keep up the high standards, and I look forward to the next entry :)
Agreed but may I mention the title “elevated horror” is dumb because the idea behind it makes other horror films come off as lesser or dumber than what gets that label-and considering what can be considered elevated horror can be applied to a ton of horror films that don’t get this label which makes the label meaningless. Maybe arthouse or indie horror works a little better? But the term elevated horror has always been dumb to me and it’s an underhanded insult to other films in the same genre.
I will say, with the ending of this movie it truly shows how sucky life can actually be. Sure the game itself seems pretty farfetched but people will do awful things to get what they want, even if it is for a good cause. And the fact that all of the awful things Iris did ended up being for nothing made it even more bitter to see. Edit: Holy crap yall, I didn't think this would get this many likes. Thanks!
The fact that it was all for nothing is a stinger. Like, the character would have to live with the memory of what transpired but the fact that she loses even when she wins is such a gut punch. Whew.
I was at a panel at Monster Mania with Jeffrey Combs, and he talked about this movie a little bit. Said it was fun to play something other than a mad scientist (which gets typecast as), and that he played the character as if his brand of evil had been passed down from his father and his father before him.
The joke at 18:31 was so spot on. The timing, the wordplay, it was all set up so well, nice on James (or any of the writers) for taking notice of it. So good
I remember how depressing this movie was when I watched it about a year ago with my college roommates. When I realized that this count was for this movie, I didn't know if I could sit through it again. It's so depressing, especially considering the awful realities that come with everyday classism. Kudos to the DM crew for doing this. Hope y'all have pets to cuddle. Now, onto happier movies.
The quoting of The Goo Goo Dolls song "Iris" at 20:35 is just wonderful. I wanted it to happen but didn't expect it to happen, it was a nice surprise. Great job to the writer! :D
19:42 this was the other death that really disturbed me. He just wanted to go home, trying to get through to her and the second he tried to open up, she offs him. It was so brutal and I felt for the guy. Especially after what he went through moments before.
i took it as her already having made her decision. she was fighting it, but his words were getting to her, so she had to act before he changed her mind. Pretty selfish, but she knew that.
For the scene with the barrel or card, it should have always been the barrel. The human brain can sustain oxygen loss for around 4 minutes, and one’s heart would still be beating when the two minutes were up.
That won't matter if the person panicks and swallows water. Drowning is about swallowing water through the nose too much and filling up your lungs. People can drown with less than a minute if they can't hold their breath long enough underwater.
You probably didn’t watch the part where they wouldn’t even let the person take a breath or get ready first. The only reason why Amy died in the first place.
Even if they were still alive and unconsciousness, no way in hell the gamemakers were gonna take the steps needed to resuscitate her nor let anyone try to get water out her lungs.
Honestly, "Would You Rather" may be a depressing film for its conclusion & how the characters in the film are treated. But... I feel like it's the best kind of Death Game Film that my partner & I wouldn't mind rewatching every now and again
One extremely cool detail is that when Dr. Barden is driving to the house, you can see he has burn marks on his temples from where he was electrocuted during his own car battery round!
i’m a huge horror fan and i’ve seen this movie before but it fills me with so much dread, sadness, and anger it’s even hard for me to watch this kill count. It’s truly an amazing film and i remember crying so much at the ending. Great video Dead Meat crew!
“The Mist“ and “Would You Rather“ are perhaps some of the most blatant and tragic movie examples of a pyrrhic victory-you’ve won, but at a cost so high it was more-so comparable to a loss.
20:35 “since she don’t want the world to see it, cuz she don’t think that they’d understand” little things like this is what makes me love dead meat so much. For those of you who don’t get it, it’s a reference to the song Iris which contains the line “and I don’t want the world to see me, cuz I don’t think that they’d understand”. It’s such a small thing but it’s so clever
Honestly Brittany Snow is pretty underrated when it comes to horror movies. I think she should get appreciated more because she does great in her roles!
While she is most remembered from children and teen comedy flicks like The Pacifier and John Tucker Must Die, everyone should check in her performance in X from Ti West, that movie is fantastic
Watching this kill count makes me sad because this seems like one of the most depressing films, kind of like The Mist. The worst kill of the movie is the elderly lady in the wheelchair, played by June Squibb. My wife has cerebral palsy which requires her to use a wheelchair and I know that if I sat through that movie it would kill me, I'd be so upset. The kill count is always amazing and every episode is always fun but this is definitely one movie I'm going to skip and never ever watch! Curse of Chucky had that same effect on me when I watched it, it's devastating. On a positive note, the set is amazing as I said before and it's great to have you back James!! Cannot wait for more kill counts, especially next week's! Take care and have a great week 😁💯👍
I remember watching this at 13 as one of the first horror movies I chose to see, and I don’t think I quite fully grasped how devastating it was. Now watching it four years later, I get it.
same i saw it a couple years ago and thought it was some cheesy netflix horror movie yet it's so near and dear to my heart now but i don't think i could ever watch it again
This was one of the first horror movies I ever really watches (I was an easy to scare kid) and 8 years after seeing it for the first time I still think about it often. Just the way the story played out and the last 2 deaths made it one to stick with me forever. Definitely an incredibly done film.
This movie and "You're Next" are some of my all time favorite horror movies, i'm really glad you've covered them both now, they both certainly make you feel a lot of things by the end.
@@Brooklynsfinest2387 You’re in the minority here. “You’re Next” is universally loved and Erin is regarded as one of the best if not THE best female protagonist in a movie.
@@mochabearry Erin is well regarded because she’s far more capable than your typical horror movie protagonist. Problem is that capable and savvy heroines don’t make for scary movies, and this is for a handful of reasons. One being that we already know they’re going to make it out alive (and if they’re really likeable, it’s practically guaranteed). Another is that they don’t have room to grow as characters. When we meet them, they are already the best version of themselves, so we don’t get to see their characters develop. Combined, these elements completely ruin the emotional stakes in the movie. It’s no longer a horror movie, but an action movie. And its only entertainment comes from the catharsis of seeing bad people get their comeuppance for messing with the wrong person, not because we the audience are experiencing fear or terror. As far as the horror goes, there were really only a couple of genuinely inspired scenes in You’re Next. The dinner table and the neighbors house come to mind there, but the rest of the movie was forgettable. They don’t make enough use of the characters or setpieces. Also the villains (the evil family members in general) were too cartoonish to be intimidating. The assassins removing their masks midway through was another big mistake on the writers’ part, since they were far more threatening before doing so. Overall, it was a pretty good thriller, but a bad horror movie
As someone who’s close to multiple victims of SA and someone who was gr*omed, the scene where the son tries to r*pe iris because he thinks he can get away from it hurts me on a whole different level. My friends never got any kind of justice because nobody believed them.
I don't know why, but I really like horror stories that twist the concepts of childish games we all played at least once in our life. My personal favorites are the "Jinrou Game" book series and the manga "Doubt", which both twist around the rules of "Mafia"/"The Werewolves" to make them psychological thrillers.
@@danielf1833 Uh... Well it's much older than Among Us, but yeah you could say that. BUT! There's actually "Judge", another manga done by the same author and it's basically an Among Us debate for 6 tomes. There's even two imposters. (It's also much older than the game though) (It's pretty damn good too. There's also a movie that doesn't follow the manga at all apart from the base premise.)
I remember watching this movie when it first came out. The movie did a good job making you get attached to these characters by nothing having them be the usual a-holes that are all in it for themselves and when they do becomes more self-preserved, their motivations justify it. And that moment of slight relief when she wins just for the ending to sucker-punch you in the gut had me reeling the first time I saw it.
I found this film really depressing when I first watched it, it made me so uncomfortable, I couldn’t help but imagine myself in their position constantly, its so frightening. Guess that’s a sign of a great horror film!
I remember the first time I caught this movie on Netflix the ending flabbergasted me. I was quoting the guy with the glasses from an episode of the Twilight Zone, "That's just not fair. There was time now. It's not fair!"
JAMES!!!! Thank you so so much for the wedding shoutout! We were both so shocked to hear our names come out of your mouth!🤩 This meant so much🥹🥹 Neither of us had any idea it was coming - this is just the icing on top of our wedding cake😂
Penguin was absolutely the best part about Gotham. So seeing him here in a semi similar role (though worse here) made me happy. I'm also always glad when a childhood game turned horror is done well!
I love the way the movie plays with the viewers feelings. You could think "I wouldnt have killed them because its wrong" but in the other hand its great how it also makes you feel like "I dont know this person why should i care". It makes so the viewer really thinks about their actions
“before The Question can finish his question” love Jeffrey Combs in that role (JLU). he also did an AMAZING Braniac in Injustice 2. “the plastic tips on shoelaces are called aglets, but their true purpose is sinister.”
I think having so many actors known for campy/loveable/comedic roles really elevates the utter hopelessness of the film. You're waiting for a millisecond of levity that you know these actors are all capable of and it just never comes.
9:38 for those who don’t know Jeffrey combs played “the question” In the animated justice league show. He also was one of the best parts of that show in my opinion.
I watched this movie with a group of friends in early March 2020, it was the last time we all hung out together before Covid and i remember all of us just going to bed right after because of how bleak the ending was. A seriously incredible movie
My older sister and her cool friends watched this when I was a kid and obviously, my eight year old self wasn't allowed in the room. So I watched it on my own time, and I was so excited when I heard you were covering it on the Kill Count. My memories of this movie are bleak and vague, and I enjoyed revisiting it through James' eyes!
I still remember being traumatized by watching Saw3 and the horrific twisty-turny trap when I was like 15 or sth. Nothing bleak or vague about that one, just an intense feeling of disgust. Seeing that one on the kill count made me realize how you kinda get desensitized to all this stuff or maybe it's just that I'm just not as naive and simply believing what I see, like back then. Always nice to see how one grows as a person and how things change along the way.
@Phazz Yess! When I was in elementary school my best friend was OBSESSED with Saw and he would show me all the clips, the hair pulling one left me checking my scalp for blood for *years* every time a strand of hair got pulled out
The way he pauses and slowly explains the cards when revealed I always imagined that he was making them up as he went, whatever felt the most sinister at the time.
I see the ending as fitting only because she had a chance for both survivors to go home free but chose her own interest instead of both of theirs, especially considering their pack to band together.
@@chrisowens4687the man literally sacrificed himself multiple times for her. I wonder what he could possibly do if they both walked out free without ANY money at all🤔
Saw this movie a few years ago when watching anything with Jeffrey Combs I could find. Great actors confined mostly to one set, hyping up the psychological scares ... deeply disturbing and it's stuck with me long after other horror movies have faded. Sometimes you don't need big flashy spectacle to leave an impact.
I remember watching this and being amazed at how well acted Rob Wells was in it. I grew up with the Trailer Park Boys and seeing him in this was eye opening
Same, Robb Wells character in TPB was and is always one of my favorites. Seeing him in this movie and acting something that isn't a trailer park drug dealer it's just mind blowing because he nailed this.
This is one of few of the movies I watched before the kill count. I am an emotional person and watched this with my father. I began to cry when I realized what happened at the end with her brother.
I watched this as a kid and found this movie really attracting and then I recently watched it 18 now and I looked closer to Amy and told myself “huh…she looks real familiar” im not ashamed for recognizing Sasha💀
What’s weird is that this was one of the few horror movies I watched growing up. Honestly it was such a good movie with really good acting and creative concepts.
A: Holy shit was I blown away and caught off guard by the ending of this movie. Still reeling from it. B: I could only be more excited that you're covering the OG Dracula, one of my favorite movies of all time, if you announced it would lead into the rest of the Universal Horror movies or if you did all of the Dracula movies. There are tons of the latter that fit right in with this channel.
The ending where you find out he was dead this whole time still hits hard even though I’ve seen this movie not too long ago Edit: also the background of this video looks so nice
I was 15 when this came out and went to see it in the cinema because I was a big fan of the Saw films and thought it would be in a similar vein, I was so not ready for how much this movie broke me and my friends
The part at the end where he showed the other movies with the same kill count and breakdown was cool! I don't how much extra work that is, but that would be fun to have going forward.
I like the grittiness of this movie. There’s not always a happy ending it’s a part of reality I think this movie captures that very well. That said I do like movies where the heroes win but every once in a while it’s good to mix in a bitter story
As I survivor of multiple suicide attempts I can say that I totally get how Raleigh felt. I have autism as well as other issues so wanting your loved ones to have a better life will make me do somethings to help reach that goal, so whether Im dead or not is something I struggle with everyday.
Fellow autist here. I’ve been struggling with dark thoughts for a long time and often contemplated doing it because I believed I was dead weight. You’re not alone. I hope you’ve found happiness.
First time I watched this movie, I went to bed so bummed out 😂😭 I just wanna shout out James and Chelsea releasing some lovely commentary tracks over on Patreon, because they have one for this movie, and it makes it much less depressing to have their voices with you while you watch 😂
James these jokes are so creative and good, “Iris” hiding her wound because she doesn’t think the world would understand? 😂😂 that is so good I love your humor James!!!
i don’t really get it. a lot of things could stab someone accidentally, people could but even more likely a story would be something in nature like falling on a rock or a fallen branch (but like a big branch with a smaller jaded part to it) anyways do you mind explaining the joke?
@@nifynitm It's a reference to the Goo Goo Dolls song "Iris" from the late 90's. "I don't want the world to see me/'Cause I don't think that they'd understand" is a lyric from the song and her name is Iris.

This was the first horror movie my Fiancée and I watched together, and we’ve probably watched it 20 times since. Thank you for giving it the spotlight!
So happy more people get to know about this movie I always recommend it because of how it keeps the ball rolling and captures u. It’s so tragic but so well done. Watched this during a movie marathon where I found Hush- can’t wait for u to talk about that one
I heard about this movie years ago and would only see clips of it, i decided to watch it and it's not that bad. It's not afraid to hurt or kill off characters. I really liked the protagonists acting since she was in a Disney movie and in Prom Night, also The Penguin from Gotham is in the film.
That alone got me to watch the film. Loved Robin Lord Taylor as the penguin. Honestly most of the actors who played villains in that series were amazing was a big reason as to why I loved it so much. Know a good amount of people disliked it but I really enjoyed it. Honestly most of the villains in that series are my favorite on screen versions of them. Like Taylor as Penguin seeing how Danny Devito version was way to Burton for my liking. And I liked Colin Farrell but haven't seen enough of him yet as Penguin. Then Cory Smith was my favorite Riddler. Really liked Paul Dano in The Batman but felt Smith was a lot closer to the comic being more playful. And then might be a sin to say this but Cameron Monaghan was my favorite Joker.
@@wisewolftony 'tis no sin I assure you, Cameron Monaghan is also my favorite "Mr J"... *Gotham* indeed had many great actors playing great villains for 5 badass seasons... On top of those you've already listed, I'd also nominate B.D Wong as _Professor Hugo Strange_ , Alexander Siddig as _Ra's al Ghul_ , Benedict Samuel as _Jervis Tetch aka the Mad Hatter_ , and David Zayas as _Salvator "Sal" Maroni_ as my personal favorites. edit: How did I manage to forget to give a shout out to my man Anthony Carrigan for his role as _Victor Zsasz_ ! It's a very different Zsasz from what we're used to, but that role really changed the way lots of people view the character. For instance, they copy-pasted him 100% for the (lesser) show *Batwoman* in which Mr Zsasz is played by another actors fans of *Gotham* will be familiar with, Alex Morf.
@@randallflagg3700 Yea only reason I didn't list any of them off was because I was just listing my favorite villains from the series who also appeared in films. Although I should have included Anthony as Zsasz seeing how Zsasz did appear in the Birds of Prey film although I have refused to watch that film due to what they did to my 2nd favorite member of the Bat Family Cassandra Cain. As they made her into a generic teenage girl who freaking talks non stop from what the trailers show and can't fight both utter opposites from her actual character. She's a mute or mostly mute badass who is so skilled at fighting even Batman know's he could never beat her. But I love Anthony as Zsasz and how different it is seeing how he's kind of boring in the comics and games just basically a generic crazy serial killer. Anthony was also the reason I started watching the show Barry which he's amazing in as Noho Hank. All the others you listed were amazing as well. Wong felt very similar to the only version of Hugo I really know which is the one from Arkham City game. Should have included Siddig as Ra's as he's a better Ra's to me then Liam was in Batman Begins. And Samuel as Mad Hatter was one of my top 5 favorite villains in the series. Also one last actor I have to give some praise to was Cerveris as Professor Pyg. Know in Gotham he was a serial killer impersonating Pyg but still Cerveris his actor nailed Pyg in terms of his voice sounded almost exactly like the Pyg from Arkham Knight.
@@wisewolftony - It's cool, you couldn't list everyone after all, and you already listed the top 3, so I figured I would give a few less established charas a push. I also checked *"Barry"* out because of Anthony Carrigan, and I'm so glad I did! In some comics, Zsasz can be boring, but properly used he can be terrifying... Don't worry about *Birds of Prey* , you haven't missed much, and I'm saying that as someone who usually defends the DCEU (or the good movies in it at least) tooth and nail. My biggest motivation to go watch it is that Roman Sionis, the Black Mask, was finally on the big screen in a major role! But much like Cassandra Cain, he is nothing like his usual self, and only wears the mask for a couple scenes... It's so weird that I had to watch a terrible show like *Batwoman* to finally get a decent live action Black Mask! He is the Big Bad of season 2, and his False Face society is pretty much the only thing that kept this crappy show together in S2... *Peter Outerbridge* did a fantastic job as Roman Sionis, and it's a shame he was wasted on Batwoman... I also agree with *Gotham* 's Ra's being superior to the one from *Batman Begins* , and also IMHO to the one from *Arrow* season 3, played by Matt Nable. Nable was good in *Arrow* , and his League of Assassins ninjas looked great in this show, better than the ones from BB&Gotham (but that's just personal taste for that choice) Matt Nable played the "noble demon" Ra's, the well-intentioned extremist willing to sacrifice millions to save billions, the martial artist with a strong code of honor and sense of respect for the "detective" as he calls Batman... In *Gotham* , Alex Siddig did a fantastic job playing the "bastard" Ra's, the psycho who wants to shape the world to his image and doesn't really care for human beings. The difference between his daughter Nyssa in the 2 shows (Arrow&Gotham) really highlights his different persona. Though I guess in Gotham, Nyssa was just a more fleshed out version of TDKR's Talia al Ghul. I still loved her, Jaime Murray was so good in that role... Wish we got more fighting scenes out of her, her fight against Jim Gordon is one of my favorites in the 5 seasons...
I remember when I watched this the ending will never not make me feel terrible inside because in the end she did all that for nothing all of that pain and trauma she went through…..only for it to not matter is honestly really gut wrenching when you think about it
I went into this film with very low expectations. However this is now one of my favourite movies. Such dread, psychological torment, physical torture and a fucked up ending… I love it

Hiya james
Hey James, can you make a Kill Count review of Netflix's Circle from 2015?
Do armdammd 1988 iced 1988 x ray 1982 and night game 1989
Is squid game getting a kill count
Hii
@@damianprock1650 Yeah that episode is actually what this movie is based on.
Realegh
I think that's actually why she killed him at that moment though. She had probably already resigned herself to do it and hearing his own tragic story would have just made it even harder on her after she pulled the trigger.
If you look carefully at the start, you can see that when she leaves, her brother is in the same position that she finds him in during the end - meaning she didn't even have to go in the first place if she checked on him as he already had died.
Twisting the knife even more. Horrific.
Now that's attention to detail. Also completely Horrible.
God damn, I thought Midsommar's beginning was depressing, but this takes it to a whole new level
There's a silver lining here though, she gets to keep all of the money for herself
@@ctakitimu is the money even worth it if you have no one? no brother? no parents? trauma? and the overbearing guilt of ending an innocent man’s life?
@@ctakitimu yeah, but the reason she went through all that is gone. She killed Lucas for nothing. Now she doesn’t even have a way to justify herself.
Would You Rather and The Mist fighting over the most soul-crushingly depressing ending ever
That's one of the reasons why I could only watch it once - so many things could have been avoided and prevented, and you ended up feeling horrible for every single character in this movie, except for the host of course.
I think the mist takes it me and my mom watched the movie when I was younger and I cried so much. And refused to watch it for a bit
Rabidly clawing tooth and nail for it
I hated the mists ending
Duel of the fates start playing
Had no sympathy for her. The character was already bland and unlikeable even before she killed some guy for money.
I watched this movie super late, and I think I finished at something like four am. I was tired as hell, but I had to immediately watch something else because of how I felt.

Agreed. He was a terrific guy all along
Then they ruined it with the silly level poopie ending where the brother dies.

I watched this on Netflix and it was really entertaining, but man that ending really broke my heart…she went through all that, finally thinking she was saving her brother, to come home and see that he “self-deleted” I mean her screaming “what did you do?” Over and over again was so haunting to me
'Fun' thing:
You can see him slumped over a little when she leaves to go to the place, implying he'd 'self deleted' before she left, and she didn't notice. Possibly could have saved him if she's noticed rather than running off for the money

Definitely agree
Also the little “ I dunno” 😆
This horror movie definitely feels more real than whatever ghost movie recently came out. The old rich villain is genuinely evil, and the worst part is he would probably face no punishment because he would likely just bribe his way out of the slammer
My main grip with modern day horror movies is how the general viewer mostly only knows about ghost or supernatural movies thanks to the Nun and other movies as well. There can be other sub genre horror movies but marketing prefers to advertise those ones instead of the others and it grinds my gears

Same!! Dead meat is the reason I opened myself to the horror genre and I'm so happy that I did.
I'm the same way. This channel has really helped me appreciate media more and expand my horizon
Ikr I’ve seen and heard of movies I never would have because of dead meat

I will say, with the ending of this movie it truly shows how sucky life can actually be. Right. I feel like Iris finding her brother dead was HER karma because she basically took away a brother from his three siblings.

Yup. Every person should definitely have picked the barrel.

When I was in elementary school my best friend was OBSESSED with Saw and he would show me all the clips, the hair pulling one left me checking my scalp for blood for *years* every time a strand of hair got pulled out
@nijuo joing the rack, if you were curious is the trap name
The way he pauses and slowly explains the cards when revealed I always imagined that he was making them up as he went, whatever felt the most sinister at the time.
I disagree. The cards were pretty clear. A 4 on a barrel can only really make sense in one scenario
I see the ending as fitting only because she had a chance for both survivors to go home free but chose her own interest instead of both of theirs, especially considering their pack to band together.
No she really had no choice it was saving her brother or dying
@@chrisowens4687at the end it wasnt
@@santiv4 she couldn’t risk trusting him
@@chrisowens4687the man literally sacrificed himself multiple times for her.
He was also in Hobo with a shotgun
@@braino64 I got my dad to watch it with me after I met the TTPBs at TOFanExpo he was almost in shock at how different it was
Yep EZ 😩👍🏿
Yeah same with Eddie Steeples I just knew him from My name is Earl
Found this on Netflix a couple years ago, was absolutely phenomenal but definitely a punch in the gut at the end. So glad it's finally getting KC'd 🙌
I appreciate all the Ricky-isms you put in this episode when talking about his character.

Short circulating made me laugh lmao
Robin Lord Taylor is absolutely an underrated actor. He was great in Gotham
Love the Star Trek references, Jeffery Combs is a legend
What’s weird is that this was one of the few horror movies I watched growing up. Honestly it was such a good movie with really good acting and creative concepts.
"You are violating my territorial bubble!" Thank you, James for this wonderful Frighteners reference.
The best part of this WHOLE movie was 19:34
Imagine trying to get out your sob sorry and then LITERALLY getting shot a second after, oh my god 🫣😩😩
I was considering watching this, but when I saw the poster of a razor blade next to an eyeball, I thought I’d better just leave it James lol
Yeah, I can't even play Dead Space 2, for one reason, and that's knowing what waits for me at the end of the game.
The moral of the film seems to be "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions."
Side note: That "Iris" reference was absolutely brilliant, James.
not really, its "the rich will do what they want and you have no power in capitalist society"
Man it’s insane James still has energy for making such a high quality video like this for The second time The same day
Wdym?
If you watch the end card the first take of this got corrupted so he had to do it again
@@twbillionare9568 I didnt watch that part. Thanks for letting me know though
The ending to Would You Rather (2012) is one of the most heartbreaking & soul-crushing endings that I've ever seen in my life!
IKR LIKE WHY DID THEY END IT LIKE THAT
@@blupercs729 I honestly don't know, but that ending was very effective l!
@@JSPokemonYT true but I just hate the fact she did all that just to come back to her dead brother
@@blupercs729 Agreed!
The ending where you find out he was dead this whole time still hits hard even though I’ve seen this movie not too long ago
Edit: also the background of this video looks so nice
This was basically the first horror movie I ever saw, so this is a special one for me, Thanks.
“More thigh trauma than a KFC” nearly choked me to death on my on spit. That was hilarious
A year late but ong, low key probably one of the best jokes I’ve ever heard
I swear the wordplay with Iris and not wanting the world to see and her hiding the wound…James is GENIUS! ❤
I love the googoo dolls!
Screw reality sometimes
As I survivor of multiple suicide attempts I can say that I totally get how Raleigh felt. I have autism as well as other issues so wanting your loved ones to have a better life will make me do somethings to help reach that goal, so whether Im dead or not is something I struggle with everyday.
I hope you’re in a better headspace these days. Stay safe and stay healthy out there
Hey dude, not sure how you are doing. Just know you're appreciated, loved, and that you'll be okay. Stay safe man.
Glad you’re still here 🤗
Stay well. People need you more than you know❤
Fellow autist here. I’ve been struggling with dark thoughts for a long time and often contemplated doing it because I believed I was dead weight. You’re not alone. I hope you’ve found happiness.
This was actually one of the first horror films I watched and it shaped my style in horror as a whole. So I'm very glad you covered this.
😂😂 that is so good I love your humor James!!!
i don’t really get it. a lot of things could stab someone accidentally, people could but even more likely a story would be something in nature like falling on a rock or a fallen branch (but like a big branch with a smaller jaded part to it)
anyways do you mind explaining the joke?
@@nifynitm Look up ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls.
@@nifynitm It's a reference to the Goo Goo Dolls song "Iris" from the late 90's. "I don't want the world to see me/'Cause I don't think that they'd understand" is a lyric from the song and her name is Iris.

this is the first video i’ve watched since james came back and all i can say is that i missed this man with a passion, his videos single-handedly got me through some of the toughest times in my life. i love you james, we

This was the first horror movie my Fiancée and I watched together, and we’ve probably watched it 20 times since. Thank you for giving it the spotlight!
I love every detail given in every kill count. I would’ve have never known the brother was the dude from Escape room.
So happy more people get to know about this movie
I always recommend it because of how it keeps the ball rolling and captures u. It’s so tragic but so well done. Watched this during a movie marathon where I found Hush- can’t wait for u to talk about that one
Assuming you're talking about the 2016 movie Hush on Netflix, I believe it has already been covered.
Hush is awesome
On top of those you've already listed, I'd also nominate B.D Wong as _Professor Hugo Strange_ , Alexander Siddig as _Ra's al Ghul_ , Benedict Samuel as _Jervis Tetch aka the Mad Hatter_ , and David Zayas as _Salvator "Sal" Maroni_ as my personal favorites.
edit:
How did I manage to forget to give a shout out to my man Anthony Carrigan for his role as _Victor Zsasz_ !
Nable was good in *Arrow* , and his League of Assassins ninjas looked great in this show, better than the ones from BB&Gotham (but that's just personal taste for that choice)
Matt Nable played the "noble demon" Ra's, the well-intentioned extremist willing to sacrifice millions to save billions, the martial artist with a strong code of honor and sense of respect for the "detective" as he calls Batman...
