The hearing on Microsoft's approval to acquire Activision Blizzard, which began last week in California, has proved to be an extremely valuable source of information on the past and future plans of the industry giants. The latest fruit of this was the confirmation that DayZ 2, a continuation of the hit online survival game, is in production. This information comes from Microsoft's internal correspondence, which has been attached to publicly available evidence. Bohemia Interactive is listed there as one of the studios that Microsoft is looking at in the context of a possible takeover. The studio description states that Bohemia Interactive is currently working on three projects - Arma Reforger, Arma 4 and DayZ 2.

I actually like how DayZ is not holding your hand when crafting. It's kinda awesome not to know all the mechanics of the game and discover them with time.
Not just crafting, literally everything. No in game map, no minimap, no numbers on your stats, when you get sick it doesn't tell you what you have or what will cure it. No tutorial to tell you not to eat with bloody hands or bandage with unclean rags. You can look all that stuff up, sure, but in game? Nah, you're on the coast with a plum, a bandage, and a chemlight, and then it just chucks you in the deep end. You figure it out, or you don't. Items you could pick up don't glow. It's very oldschool in that way and as an older gamer, I'm all about it. It also provides a filter for the playerbase - A lot of younger and frankly toxic players try it out, starve to death a few times, and rage quit. Good. This is not a game for impatient people or those who don't want a challenge. PvP is maybe 5% of the game, and there's plenty of shooters. You survive in DayZ on knowledge and wits, and that's what the game brings to the table that almost no other game does. It's no wonder the most popular servers are "Helis Traders Weed 10x Loot Safezones Infinite Stamina $100k start ATMs" blah blah. Because little kids bought the game, still want to say they play DayZ, but they don't actually play DayZ.
I can see advanced crafting being a "figure it out" sorta thing, but basics need to be disclosed. We shouldn't have to resort to Google in the middle of a PVE/PVP game. Give us enough to get started & maybe make suggestions for more advanced items.
I think I'm the only guy who wouldn't complain about the constant running... even if the new maps are insanely huge. For me, it's the whole reason I play the game. It adds to the immersion, and really helps the zen experience I play this game for. Nothing makes a large map larger, than slow travel. It also forces the player to explore more... which in DayZ is a good thing, because learning subtle terrain features can be a make-it or break-it for solo players.
Many casual gamers who play comfortable mainstream games complain about this and call it a "hiking/walking simulator" - but excatly that's what's nice about it. The sounds of the forests and fields. Nature continues to flourish like thousands of years ago.
fast travel makes open worlds in games unnecessary or makes the world feel very small. it's why i tend to avoid vehicles in dayz, if i can just safely pop from town to town gathering everything it sours the experience and makes it boring after a while. cars are basically godmode in vanilla dayz, just drive into a town, honk the horn, run over the zombies, town safe to loot without firing a shot.

@@zombaldag9337 Like it's said in the video, the game is running on 2 different engines and not solely on Enfusion like you claim. The devs have already said they won't update the game to fully run on Enfusion since that would be too much work and it would set it back to the point where it won't be playable due to all the bugs they'd have to figure out and fix. And they can't even do that with the game in it's current version. Every update & hotfix just breaks something new and old bugs resurface again.
The emotions, this video gave me.. "Sad" , "Happy" , "Nostalgic" , "Hopeful" , i dont know too many to list them all. But my end emotion was happy and i cant wait to see the future of this game. This is my favorite game. I love DayZ.
Things dayz 2 isn’t complete without: 1: underwater swimming and fighting underwater 2: more in depth cars (being able to shoot out of them [accurately with pistol in accurate with rifles] 3: in depth hostage taking with knife or pistol (can also work like a Cod execution if you you need) 4: better gunplay (more inaccurate while moving, better sway, Picture in Picture scopes, better shock damage system so they don’t ALWAYS get knocked out and also gunsmithing 5: better and fine tuned movement so you can do action movie stuff but it’s also realistic enough to prevent fights where you just zig zag or circle each other 6. Explosive diarrhea
im playing dayz since 2014 and im 19 year old and i am very happy that the players in this game still talk about dayz so much and that the players appreciate this game
Awesome video man. I’ve been obsessed with dayz since 2019 when it came to Xbox and I’m already dying for a dayz 2. Something modern without the dupers, alt accounts, and exploits that plague the current game
I had no idea Dayz was doing so well, I remember when Dayz was basically dead, 4-5 years ago the player base was maybe a few hundred people, now look at it. I no longer play Dayz, but it gladdens me to see one of my childhood favorites come back from the dead and new people get to experience what I did.
I play DayZ since ArmA 2 mod (2012) and now I'm playing it with my girlfriend who never knew it. She is so happy to play it with me. And now she has 500 hours herself. Last week we stepped down the vast underground bunker-system in Livonia (for me also the first time and we both were at the edges of our seats caused by every slight ambient sound we heard and thought we heard another player or military zombies in the pitch black dark only lit by her flashlight and my pistol-light.
I know that I’m being too delusional or optimistic, but imagine a DayZ game with The Last Of Us quality, I’m really hoping that Factions 2 will fulfil my wish…
From a business point of view: Total conversion DLC for ARMA 4 It will force people to get ARMA 4 to get the DLC. Huge increase in revenue. But the biggest is consolidation of workforce and effort. Would allow BI to utilize full team on one large project and allow for devs to be moved between projects with ease.
Instead of having a built-in crafting menu, I think it'd be a good idea to have different crafting books placed as common civillian loot you could find.
If they did any kind of hand holding with the crafting it would be via a basic survival volume 1, 2, 3 pamphlet(s). Same as the paper map. There used to be entire books, and pens and notes
Exactly. Despite its relatively high sales figures, DayZ is a niche game compared to other popular games. And I hope it will stay that way forever, even for a potential part 2 or 3 or 4.
what i dont understand is how modders (usually one person) can build maps , guns, equipment, vehicles etc with hardly any cash and yet developers take months sometimes years to dribble out content with way more financial backing.
Whoa, I wasnt expecting that much info and knowledge of the game history in one place. You said it all man great video. For me you have spoke everything in that last line on your video, I hope one day we see this game true potential. Thank you for your work
I doubt we’ll see a dayz 2 stand-alone honestly. It took years for them just to get it in the half decent shape that it’s in now but I’m sure with Arma 4 we’ll get a bunch of really badass dayz(esque) mods that’ll surpass standalone
The idea of a Dayz2 scares me. I love this game and it's changed my life in many ways. I would love it but it would break my heart to see DayZ die off.
Agreed. I found out about Dayz through a friends on ps4. When I built my new pc it was one of the first games I bought. I love it. Would love to see a Dayz 2
Nothing new to come, only modders does innovate. HunterZ is creating a way to shoot in vehicles, I wonder what devs can bring if they don't touch the engine anymore
Great breakdown, Dayz2 makes sense in my opinion from a financial standpoint. When you did a monetary comparison with Arc and Rust - it would also be interesting to see how much money Arma3 made... I cant imagine its much more than DayzSA.
me as a dayz console player have to say dayz 2 as a direct sequel would be best with mods directly implemented like in arma. the graphics and buggy ness is my biggest problem with dayz right now and i see forward into the future of the dayz francise
I think Arma 2 sat around for a year or two in my game shelf before I really started playing it. Back in the day it was really hard to learn a game that had so many controls as there was nothing else like it. Once I learned the controls though I started having real fun playing and manually scripting sequences like loading and unloading helicopters. Anyway it has a huge learning curve but thats what makes it the best game as well because once you learn it there is so much to do!
I'm proud to say I supported DayZ since 2013 and have bought it multiple times for my friends. I'm happy for the team and Dean Hall seen as much success as they have.
I think its time for dayz 2 but im sad because of how long it took to come to console. So hopefully with this updated gen itll come over quicker if it is made
I think this time with Dayz 2 they would release it together with PC because of the profit it will make. And also it would be amazing if it was cross play. I played on console before moving to PC and the community would love this. And it be one amazing selling point.
Arma 2 dayz mod was the best ! The actually dayz standalone is a fail honestly, try playing SCUM, is light years ahead of anything Dayz will even dream of achieveing.
DayZ has a lot of potential. I’ve played it since 2011 and it still needs improvement. The controls are not easy, and the game should be simpler to play. It could learn from how Minecraft made its inventory and crafting easier to use. The game can be laggy and glitchy, fixing this is more important than adding new maps or items
I think adding AI characters to the vanilla game is a BAD IDEA. While modded servers can certainly play around with using NPC's, I personally feel that it takes away from the beauty of real player interactions, which are what make DayZ such a unique game. Of all of the changes suggested in this video, most of which I agree with, I think this is the worst.
1:36 where I pause. Dayz is so popular these days because it picked up consistent and healthy support from the devs. But also it was released to console and now there's all these PC games that are coming to console. A whole new world of gaming just opened up to console players. And the ridiculously massive maps. It's an arma game reskinned as a zombie survival. People love milsims for their realistic outcomes and huge maps.
Wow, I didn't realize how much I needed DayZ 2 in my life until I just watched this video. I always thought DayZ was flawed but had so much potential, yet somehow no one ever managed to make a "better DayZ" despite the many attempts at the genre. I'm now convinced that the only ones capable of making a "better DayZ" is DayZ themselves.
They have to stick to the "old spirit" of getting as realistic a feeling as possible out of their engine. It must never become a totally exaggerated action game just to open up new markets (asia, as mentioned in the video), where you fight 100 zombies on your own with a katana and kung-fu moves to shred them to chunks.
I'm really impressed with the amount of research you put into this. Also one thing they MUST maintain with a newer version of DayZ is the level of grit and avoid streamlining. The game flourishes with it's multiple trivial obstacles melding together to create an over-arching challenge, unique to each player. That's what makes the game so special. Everyone has a different goal, short term or long term.
I want the hardcore DayZ to live on! No baby sitting tutorials your not in this game to have help guides pop up of how to craft, figure it out your self your in a zombie apocalypse sh!ts hit the fan and you need to figure out how to survive food and supply's are sparce you must grab your bag and run stay hidden stay quiet other wise you get your head blown off or eaten alive my zombie infested town's or bears out in the wild. When do you ever see hunters making so much noise in their trucks while chasing their next meal...answer you don't! Stay low move fast stay quiet kill or be killed! DayZ is the only game that has ever made me scared shitless/jump out of my skin in a pure heart attack moment of fire fights. Couldn't ask for the game anyother way! Love it! Most adrenalin rushed game out there.
baby nades, of all the amazing vidz uve pumped out, i gotta say that i like this the best. gave a lil hope and maybe some push to devs to get their arse in gear for #2
I agree with you. There needs to be a DayZ 2 with everything you mentioned. I may have missed it, but I think they should also expand on base building and possibly being able to do renovations such as painting, creating a road/driveway, repair boats to go out and catch bigger fish, more types of vehicles, skill tree. One thing I would like to be able to do on consol is customize the billboard signs and put solar panels on the roof of a house to power all electrical items. Bulldozers to knock down a house that may be blocking your view of the beach sunset. A way for people to start businesses in a town they built up. All in all, that detailed level of living in an open world. DayZ 2 would have the potential to be up in the number with GTA 6 when it drops.
All these sales and popularity of DayZ 10 years later, despite the fact that the game is... and I say this as lovingly as possible... janky broken fuckin' junk. Imagine what the franchise could be with a game made properly from day one with budget and development team, instead of 1 dude making a half game-half-mod frankenstein monster running on 2 engines.
I have a theory that DayZ 2 will start out as a mod for Arma 4 and, as per usual, will be driven by the effort, time and money spent by modders and fans of the game... while Bohemia sits back and gauges the interest and waits until making a standalone version is a "sure thing" (and after they've got that initial Arma 4 sales) and they'll essentially convert Reforger over to become DayZ 2. Feels like it makes sense, cost-efficient and safe for Bohemia. Just a theory, though.
towards the end of the video you mentioned superzombies. i play on xbox right now and theres one server i play on cant remember the name but it has zombies wearing the full rag outfit that take mad damage like im talking a mag or two from the ump45 up close mad damage. it adds an interesting dynamic to clearing an area of zombies
This video is awesome! I bought DayZ few months ago but cant really play...Have to delete something in a folder of it..but didnt do anything yet, need to learn about pc and just play more games for now. I cant wait for this new game anyway, hyped af xD
0:20 and now, many years after the pros left, there's young, inexperienced amateur interns working on DayZ🤢 people in the dev team that don't even play the game themselves on a daily basis. But hey, atleast we have modding. Our last hope for REAL content. Devs, do something right for once: give the modding community more freedom/tools to work with. 😊
I think the devs could add the ability to shoot out of cars RIGHT NOW if they wanted to, however they choose not to, as they've said they don't want to the game to be "like GTA." I think it's a change the community really needs to get behind, as it would make cars infinitely more fun and useful.
The modem mechanics in arma reforger is about 10 percent of what you can do within Dayz and the aiming is so slow and clunky it reminds me of a tank control game or old tomb raider movements
From the what I see dayz will go on forever if not a significant way into the future because I and I think a lot of other people out there really love dayz
@BabyNades Real Virtuality goes back WAY further than ARMA2 or ARMA 1 even. It goes back to the start - Operation Flashpoint and maybe even Gravon may have some of it's hooks in RV.
I'll be waiting the time needed to see the true experience i've been waiting to live with dayz since i first saw the arma 2 mod when i was a kid, i've loved dayz standalone but i lot of things have been missing all those years for the game to be complete as i see it's potentiel
The best thing about DayZ is seeing it grow over the years. It could of easily slipped into a cash grab but the devs listen to their players and refined it into a classic.
as a DayZ player for the last 7 years, on PC and Console(s). i can safely say, that as bad as the inventory system is on consoles it’s overall gameplay is incredible. graphically it’s pretty good, even on Series X graphics aren’t as good on optimized games as they are on PC. but, its frame rate is a solid 60 consistently unless there’s some crazy additions to the map. Xbox One does have lag spikes, frequently and it can be frustrating but if you look passed that it’s a great experience. i think a big problem with it is that most people don’t have the time to play games like this. i’m honestly surprised Rust sells so well considering keeping a base on there is a full time job. but these games take dozens of hours to learn, and then it takes hours to even find gear on official servers. community is becoming increasingly popular on consoles because while there’s no mods to download they do edit server files to make spawning with your friends easier, finding loot much faster, and making cars spawn much more frequently. PC will always be the goated system, it may cost an arm and a leg to get something that will handle everything you throw at it but that computer will last you 3x longer than a console will. it offers better frames, graphics, modding capabilities, and much more. but dayz on console overall is actually a great game, i hope it keeps up its player count. this game holds a special place in my heart and it will be a sad day when its put to rest. sorry for the paragraph, and good luck out there.
cant see it myself, by the time arma4 comes out the modders would of been working on there versions of dayz for a good 3-5years at that point then once it gets ported from reforger to arma4, any bohemia dev team would be years behind the community made mods

Hope you come back some day! Miss having new dayz vids by you. Hard to find aanyone else to watch. Most ppl are so hard to listen to.
Why don't the people from Bohemia set up a crowdfunding or a Patreon? I think many of us DayZ fans would want to support the development of DayZ 2!
DayZ 2 game map from the beginning where you can mark locations on all platforms and cross platform. That would make so many happy
The emotions, this video gave me.. "Sad" , "Happy" , "Nostalgic" , "Hopeful" , i dont know too many to list them all. But my end emotion was happy and i cant wait to see the future of this game. This is my favorite game. I love DayZ.
Great video from you. You got me into this game with your old videos and I consider you a real ambassador of Dayz!
Love this video. So glad you back with amazing videos. You’re Dayz content is the best.
Im so glad that Bohemia made it shyte for console players, these idiots should NOT play shooters on sticks! fuck them really !
Things dayz 2 isn’t complete without:
1: underwater swimming and fighting underwater
2: more in depth cars (being able to shoot out of them [accurately with pistol in accurate with rifles]
3: in depth hostage taking with knife or pistol (can also work like a Cod execution if you you need)
4: better gunplay (more inaccurate while moving, better sway, Picture in Picture scopes, better shock damage system so they don’t ALWAYS get knocked out and also gunsmithing
5: better and fine tuned movement so you can do action movie stuff but it’s also realistic enough to prevent fights where you just zig zag or circle each other
6. Explosive diarrhea
If they make a part 2 it’s going to do a lot better in this gaming generation if they optimize 60 fps and updated graphics
For sure! When I started playing other games recently I realized how dated DayZ's graphics really are.
I play at 144 fps
im playing dayz since 2014 and im 19 year old and i am very happy that the players in this game still talk about dayz so much and that the players appreciate this game
Awesome video man. I’ve been obsessed with dayz since 2019 when it came to Xbox and I’m already dying for a dayz 2. Something modern without the dupers, alt accounts, and exploits that plague the current game
Amen 🤘🏾
Get a pc, the sticks are NOT made to aim with, that's utther BS!
@@tiagomota4734 yea no kidding. If I wasnt a console hardo I would have made the swap by now
@@tiagomota4734joysticks are proven to be better for aiming if you know how to use them.
That was such an in depth and just all around well made video!!
For real great job man👍
I had no idea Dayz was doing so well, I remember when Dayz was basically dead, 4-5 years ago the player base was maybe a few hundred people, now look at it.
I've seen it go from almost gone on xbox to a massive cult classic. It's been wild to see. There was a time official servers closed down.
It’s so good
I know that I’m being too delusional or optimistic, but imagine a DayZ game with The Last Of Us quality, I’m really hoping that Factions 2 will fulfil my wish…
Awkward inventory, have you ever had to pack a camping bag? Pain in the arse
From a business point of view: Total conversion DLC for ARMA 4
It will force people to get ARMA 4 to get the DLC. Huge increase in revenue.
But the biggest is consolidation of workforce and effort. Would allow BI to utilize full team on one large project and allow for devs to be moved between projects with ease.
I'm just about to play on the DayZ mod someone made on Arma 4
What a shit way to sell a game to its customers. I wouldn't waste my money on DayZ2 if this was the strategy.
Dayz isn't loved for its textures, or the dated game engine. We love the experiences, the reality, the brutality, the friendships we form.
Exactly. Despite its relatively high sales figures, DayZ is a niche game compared to other popular games. And I hope it will stay that way forever, even for a potential part 2 or 3 or 4.
How to make a DayZ Asia :
Add anime and make it 3rd person only
Tons of P2W assets
what i dont understand is how modders (usually one person) can build maps , guns, equipment, vehicles etc with hardly any cash and yet developers take months sometimes years to dribble out content with way more financial backing.
One person making maps, guns, equipment and vehicles and taking less than months to do all that? Tell me more. -_-
Whoa, I wasnt expecting that much info and knowledge of the game history in one place. You said it all man great video. For me you have spoke everything in that last line on your video, I hope one day we see this game true potential. Thank you for your work
I’m going to go out on a limb here & say that we will see a DayZ 2 in about 2029 around the 20 year anniversary of DayZ itself.
If they just remade dayz as an exact copy just refurbished on a newer engine, left the communities ability to mod - they would make millions.
thanks for getting me so hyped for a game that won’t come out for like 7 years😂😭
If they were in for the money they would stop slacking around and make a god damn modern DayZ. It´s literally a money printing machine.
DayZ is in my opinion, finished as a game, it's time for DayZ 2.
Nothing new to come, only modders does innovate.
HunterZ is creating a way to shoot in vehicles, I wonder what devs can bring if they don't touch the engine anymore
Dayz, Is one of the best games ever made. In my opinion of course. If they made a dayz 2, i literally wouldnt stop playing it.
oooh cheeky mention at 04:12 sick video man.
Great breakdown, Dayz2 makes sense in my opinion from a financial standpoint. When you did a monetary comparison with Arc and Rust - it would also be interesting to see how much money Arma3 made... I cant imagine its much more than DayzSA.
DayZ 2? They haven't even fucking finished DayZ... Hell they've never even finished a single game...
me as a dayz console player have to say dayz 2 as a direct sequel would be best with mods directly implemented like in arma. the graphics and buggy ness is my biggest problem with dayz right now and i see forward into the future of the dayz francise
They would be fools to try to make the game PVE. Random unexpected encounters with other players and Pvp is what made this game
Arma 2 dayz mod was the best ! The actually dayz standalone is a fail honestly, try playing SCUM, is light years ahead of anything Dayz will even dream of achieveing.
Yes! A solid functioning sequel with lots of updates and improvements would be awesome!
Excellent video! Very well said. DayZ could be so much more, and it deserves to be.
It makes sense, I mean, The enfusion engine is still maturing. Once the tech/engine is mature I would bet real money that Dayz 2 will be on the cards.
No, Stalker started influencing the world of pc gaming - Dayz picked up on that idea.
Thank you.
I first biught dayz years ago because of your videos, and i will happily follow you to the sequel (when it comes out)
I'm really impressed with the amount of research you put into this. Also one thing they MUST maintain with a newer version of DayZ is the level of grit and avoid streamlining. The game flourishes with it's multiple trivial obstacles melding together to create an over-arching challenge, unique to each player. That's what makes the game so special. Everyone has a different goal, short term or long term.
love the video my guy !!! awesome to hear ya breaking down ya thoughts on whats good with game we all enjoy !
Love it! Most adrenalin rushed game out there.
baby nades, of all the amazing vidz uve pumped out, i gotta say that i like this the best. gave a lil hope and maybe some push to devs to get their arse in gear for #2
« dayz is a finished game » yeah i definitely love fighting lagging zombies and running for an hour ( without auto run button ) from a town to another
I agree with you.
Thank you for making this amazingly detailed video, we appreciate your content!
Yes awesome video
I myself don't mind that DayZ doesn't have an asian market. With the asian market comes unlimited supplies of cheating. Sorry, I said it.
i miss calling it dayz standalone , cause back then we still all played the mod , now its really just dayz . time flies,
All these sales and popularity of DayZ 10 years later, despite the fact that the game is... and I say this as lovingly as possible... janky broken fuckin' junk. Imagine what the franchise could be with a game made properly from day one with budget and development team, instead of 1 dude making a half game-half-mod frankenstein monster running on 2 engines.
Dayz is one of the few games I can play it to death, get burnt out, drop it for a long time and then pick it back up and repeat the process.
Fantastic video dude definitely earned a sub from me. Keep it up my friend.
great video!
this is some top notch quality content.. thank you
Glad you're making vids again buddy. Wish you still streamed
Great job on this!
This video is awesome! I bought DayZ few months ago but cant really play...Have to delete something in a folder of it..but didnt do anything yet, need to learn about pc and just play more games for now. I cant wait for this new game anyway, hyped af xD
I love ur videos since day 1 ! keep it please up!
"Its nearly 10 years old, itll did out soon"
Skyrim and elder scrolls players in general: "want to test that theory?"
Thank you SOOOOO much for explaining the current issues created by the hybrid engine.
I just wait for regular bows again, so I can start up my survivalist playstyle :D
I think the devs could add the ability to shoot out of cars RIGHT NOW if they wanted to, however they choose not to, as they've said they don't want to the game to be "like GTA." I think it's a change the community really needs to get behind, as it would make cars infinitely more fun and useful.
DayZ 2 would be the biggest slap in the face considering the first game isn't finished.
Great video I agree with you 100% we need DayZ 2 in the new engine.
The most recent dev stream included them mentioning hiring more employees. We can have real hope for a dayz 2!
Solid conclusion and strong points for having DayZ 2 buddy
I think the food can’t get too complicated and the crafting as simple as possible, because is about the journey and interactions
Wow.. a DayZ master is finally playing again..... Welcome Back !!
Dayz when it was ARMA2 was magic. I will never forget those shenanigans.
@BabyNades Real Virtuality goes back WAY further than ARMA2 or ARMA 1 even. It goes back to the start - Operation Flashpoint and maybe even Gravon may have some of it's hooks in RV.
Amazing video, Big fan of your work
I'll be waiting the time needed to see the true experience i've been waiting to live with dayz since i first saw the arma 2 mod when i was a kid, i've loved dayz standalone but i lot of things have been missing all those years for the game to be complete as i see it's potentiel
DayZ is forever
The in game experience of DayZ beats all multi p!ayer games
If you're talking about Namalsk by the employee making the map, pretty sure he made the map before he worked there.
cant see it myself, by the time arma4 comes out the modders would of been working on there versions of dayz for a good 3-5years at that point then once it gets ported from reforger to arma4, any bohemia dev team would be years behind the community made mods
17:35 i already know though that if DayZ 2 comes out or if the reforger mods such as DeadZone get popular well get another Chernarous as a modded map
Chernarus is not where you showed it on the map at 2:38, it's in the Czech Republic, Ústí nad Labem specifically...
