As someone who grew up on Samurai Jack as a kid I always wanted a realistic samurai game. This is that game. And now as a result of this game I’m now binging on classic Samurai films. Literally a few hours before this game dropped at midnight I watched Seven Samurai for the first time ever, and now I see how influential Akira Kurosawa was as an artist. Also this game may have dethroned Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last of Us part 2 as the most beautiful game I have ever seen. I’ve been playing it for 4 days and now have over 850 pics from Photo Mode; which is very addictive because of the options they have on photo mode.
I started playing in Japanese/English Subs at first but then I switched to English/No Subs after a little while so I could focus on the art and game play without being distracted. I will probably play my second playthrough in Japanese.
I agree. First in English as the original VO is ALWAYS superior. It is why Sub for Anime is the best because it the original voice overs which is always the best way. I will say though the Japanese VO is very well done here and if they ever patch in the lips to sync in that mode I might try it on a second playthrough.
Jin literally sounds like an emotionless programmed robot, Japanese just seem to have more emotion in them especially Khotun Khan sounding more menacing.
@@christopheryanez I simply do not agree. The English voice actors did a good and fair job. Japanese is obviously more suited but I throughly enjoyed both.

I hope when you guys pick this game back up you reconsider playing it in English. Usually I’m a “subs over dubs” kind of guy, but that’s usually because I want to experience something in its original intended language, which in this case, would actually be English. The lip flaps match the English dialogue, the performances sound more natural, and, if you look up the voice actors, it’s clear that the character models in the game were designed to look like their English voice actors (which is probably why the performances sound so natural). Anyway, I’m excited to see you guys get back into this, I think you’re going to love it, I just think it’ll be a bit easier for you to get immersed into the experience in English, imho.
@@raymartin9763 yeah, but for people who can read quick, they have enough time to look at the subs and analyze everything properly. So it's still an issue
@@28512ful I agree with you guys, Sucker Punch should have synced them. But honestly it wasn't a problem for me, but if I understood Japanese I could see it being an issue. I loved playing it in Japanese with subs, my son played it in English and I didn't care for it as much.
You do know that this is the only "Japanase" story game that is best playing in English because all the voice actors speak english and mocap in english so the lip sync with english rather than Japanese
Dat REACT(tm) thumbnail, lol. Is it just me, or is basically every Sony-published title this gen an over-the-shoulder, character off to one side a bit, slowly walking around broodily game? Don't get me wrong I love me a good walking broodily game but god damn they really outdid themselves the last couple years.
I think the original voice overs are the best... ALWAYS. It is like this for Anime and holds true here with this game where the language it was made in is far better. The game was made in English by English writers and actors so that is the superior way to experience it in my humble opinion. That said the Japanese VO is well done and if they patch the game in the future to sync with the Japanese VO like it does with the English VO I would replay it with the Japanese VO. But it is all subjective on what you want. Some want a more authentic Samurai experience so I get that. The only thing I really disagree with is those saying the original should have been Japanese VO but the issue is the actors and even the director would not be able to direct that correctly (it would need to be a Japanese dev team making the game to do that properly)... also the argument that becasue it is set in japan it should have been in Japanese would be like saying any Anime that is set outside of Japan should be made in that language for where it is set as the original VOs (obviously this is silly).
I'm Japanese but I compared them both and I found the English version better mainly cause the voice suits more the person. Maybe I'm biased cause I'm a fan of zoro and his voice doesn't fit jin
@@Dota2funny - I do not think you are biased I think it simply is the original is always best. It fits the sync and the faces much better. It is why we prefer Dub in Anime becasue the original is Japanese and that always carries the best emotional weight and matches the sync of the lips and facial movements. BTW the Unlce VA in the Dub is the same one who voices Yujiro Hamna in Baki... thought that was cool. Also noticed the Zoro voice and it matched many other animes too... they tend to use the same people for most animes.

That band is The Hu. Mongolian throat singing rock band.
If you love Seven Samurai and Rashomon, you should watch RAN also. I just saw that movie a while ago and it was an instant classic. You can just tell that's where Sucker Punch got their use of colors from if you saw that movie.
You hit it exactly. It feels modern because so much of modern filmmaking is inspired by the work of Akira Kurosawa.
In my honest opinion the game is 100% better in English mostly because they had more voice actors to choose from.
I was blown away by the quality of the english voice actors
English voice actors did a great job, and most of japanese voice actors who were involved in this are also top tier.
1:14:00 that kinda reminds me of His very first red dead playthrough! Tradition I suppose!
funny truth: I was watching my first Ghost video last week and a travel vloger for Japan was showing Tsushima lol. it's quite a pretty place
I hope this game includes Mongolian throat singing as part of its soundtrack. Probably won't, but we'll see
I heard Mongolian throat signing in one of the Mongol forts in the east of the island during Act I. Wasn't soundtrack though it was a soldier doing it.
It is, some battle music has like cool drums and the throat singing in the back while you slice and dice just like oooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
김정하 that is really cool. Hearing songs being sung in game can be really immersive :)
Glad I'm not the only one playing it in Japanese
My god Fraser stop being mean to your horse! 😳 Poor horsie...
3:27 One of the last two, is how I'd set mine, because I'm a helluva weeb.
I know its too late now.. But 3:12:30 is reason why you don't always stick to main story.. If you did as Yuna told you when you first separated you would got a bow because you would have did the mission with the Archery Master long before now.. Because she said go find help THEN come and find me after..
52:07 I laughed my @ss off here because of that anime-like "hmmhmmhmmm" from Khotun Khan, XD I can't!
First he kicks a dog then he punches a horse now he slices the horse
I hope you're planning to Play Paper Mario The Origami King i'll get so excited yeah boi.
They already did... I watched their twitch stream
Wait Twitch aww man.
Let's hope they finish it too :/
Got my eyes wide open when you ignored your first fox den lol :)
Also watch Yojimbo and its sequel Sanjuro. And outside of Kurosawa the old Zatoichi movie serie is also great.
That is awesome, man! Seven Samurai is huge for a first timer but it's the greatest in my opinion!
And there's the new Samurai Jack game coming out next month as well.
BLeePrit next month all I’m gonna have playing in my head on repeat is “Back to the past, Back to the past, Samurai Jack”
The English VAs suit the characters more anyway, because they're the original.
Its actually very good in English as well
Not even 1% as good as in japanese
Jin literally sounds like an emotionless programmed robot, Japanese just seem to have more emotion in them especially Khotun Khan sounding more menacing.
@@christopheryanez I simply do not agree. The English voice actors did a good and fair job. Japanese is obviously more suited but I throughly enjoyed both.
@@tzukishiro i was not comparing. Lol why ppl always tryna start an argument.
Gabriel Tzukishiro you’re just a weeb
I Love the healing wind effect
That Kami kaze... its amazing. :)
I like the screen and sound you guys put outthere
칭키즈칸의 손자가 제게 항복할것이냐고 물었을 때 저는 저도 모르게 고개를 끄덕였습니다….
1:04:04
1:14:00 funniest shit ever
lip sync in the japanese audio is really bad because the animations were made for the english voices... imo would change it, but still only 9 minutes into the 4 hours, ill edit if they change it OkayChamp
Agreed. I read the chat window so I am missing 100% of the dialogue.
Bad lipsync I can handle, not subtitling the npc conversations in towns and other background dialogue I can't handle.
Get a brain
@@GameChronicles Why tf would you read chat
Gabriel Tzukishiro Why wouldn’t I?
I'm in love with this game. I wish there would have been a higher difficulty beyond hard, and sometimes the graphics feel a bit off but other than that I love this
I found you guys when you got surprised by the deadly premonition 2 annoncement. So far I really enjoy your chanel. Just gaming no political stuff or anything or from what i've seen so far. Love it, I don't watch everything but I like what I see so far :)
Plus they have lovely cats LOL
welcome to the channel! the cats are the best part about the show lol :)
@@ko-fl8hu you have no idea how much I love cats. I just spent 3000$ on my cat this week for an emergency surgery. He was a few hours from death. Foreign object in his small intestine that blocked everything. Anyways cool channel so far.
@@schwarz7670 oh my god that's so scary. i would've done everything to save my pet too... is your cat doing okay now?
@@ko-fl8hu yes, I got him back on Friday, he's slowly eating back to normal though I have to feed him special canned food and he's being a little princess I need to spoon feed him because right now he has a sort of a colar so he doesn't lick his scar while it heals on his stomach and he hates it and he has a hard time eating with it. I don't know how I will get through it when my cat dies. I guess i've never been through this kind of thing yet in my life so it has been a tough week. I like this channel, it just makes me unload a bit :)
If you feel the need to postpone certain quests I'd suggest not playing on hard.
Anxious to see the next episode,,, is there a projected date?
1:04:00 thx bros
59:40 Oh, so they figured it out as well, I see...
Wish they played in English voice actors are so good and they wouldn’t miss stuff
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who plays Red Dead hit the horse with triangle at least once lmao.
Yep.... lmfao
やっぱ最高のゲームだよな
Really beautiful and amazing game. Great video guys 🌫👏
What are those two movies you mentioned ?
01:14:00 _Dishonoraburu!!_
Fraser has been living in Japan for over a year now and still only knows stereotypical Anime phrases -- please let it be true :3
PLEASE follow the animals!
I wonder if the band you meant is The Hu which is actually a Mongolian band xD
Sucker Punch Games-- Infamous First Light🧡
Still hate how they didn't match the lips to Japanese.
Does it matter? Most people are gonna be reading the captions instead of reading lips.
@@raymartin9763 pathetic
@@raymartin9763 yeah, but for people who can read quick, they have enough time to look at the subs and analyze everything properly. So it's still an issue
@@28512ful I agree with you guys, Sucker Punch should have synced them. But honestly it wasn't a problem for me, but if I understood Japanese I could see it being an issue. I loved playing it in Japanese with subs, my son played it in English and I didn't care for it as much.
@@huyle-ob8rg lol thanks! I was being facetious with my comment, but I do agree with you guys, even though it didn't bug me much.
Makes me wanna do another sekiro run tbh xD
After a couple hours of Tshushima I started a new game of Sekiro. Still never beat the final boss >__>
You do know that this is the only "Japanase" story game that is best playing in English because all the voice actors speak english and mocap in english so the lip sync with english rather than Japanese
Somebody gotta learn how to block, yo.
Well Spiderman and Days gone had the Mc in the middle.
@@PartStupid yeah I don't feel the Japanese actors putting enough emotion. And I like yuujiro's va. For example the uncharted God of war Spanish actors did a far better work (I also speak Spanish).
@@Dota2funny Tell me I could just be imagining it, but I feel like the Japanese voice actors sound too anime like. That could just be me though. Especially the Khan.
@@GreenWolf2k both work in Anime so yeah.
I think they use old Japanese
no
i went Japanese gotta love the authenticity
English doesn't lose the authenticity of it either cause ya know...accents associated with the Japanese.
