    Just got one of these this fall. Brought it back to life with help from your videos, and parts from Miles Stairs.
    Love the mesmerizing blue flame, and it works great!

    Thanks god this heater is/was made in England.
    We had one of these when I was a kid. My mom would remove the top cover and would cook and heat water by placing them on top of this heater. We as a kids we used jump over this heater for fun. So you see this was multi purpose heater back then.

    My parents had an Alladin heater back in the 60's. Best kerosene heater we ever had. Better than the junk made today.

    This kerosene heater was so popular in Iraq back in the 70s and 80, almost every house in Baghdad has one or two. We use to have exactly the one that you are showing.

      day1971 Hi! I am thinking about buying a kerosene heater to heat the apartment because my landlord sometimes tries to save a few bucks on the heating bills in the middle of cold winter. Is it safe to use it in an apartment?

      @@gennadiyleyfman6920 I wouldn’t use in in closed places for the risk of carbon monoxide.
      Houses in the Middle East are more ventilated than western houses so there is less risk.

    Picked up an impeccable one years ago and havent lit it up yet. Need fuel. Getting ready too. After you take the top off, that is your cook top. I am going to look for an 8 inch stove pipe that should fit it....I think. Not exactly sure if that will work tho. This baby puts out 5870 to 9320 btu's per hour per the manual. Equivalent to 1 3/4 to 2 3/4 kilowatts. It says do not use cheesy wicks! Make sure that flame is blue. No yellow. Just stating what manual says.

    I could not agree more, beautiful blue with a hint of orange in the interior, lovely stuff, I have a similar unit, though newer it's a cooker too, Kerosun I think is the brand.

    Hello ! Great video I really appreciate you for making it. I just got one of these, and reworking identical issues you had with yours. Yellow wick, stuck, feral, piss kerosene etc…
    Soaking old wick for a try at this time.
    What might you recommend for dissolving waxy (paraffin??) buildup?
    Again, thank you very much for sharing this video!!
    Best Regards 2021-2022 and beyond.

    I used to have a lunch box and "thermos" that was made by Aladdin, some logo as your heater, of course they didn't call it a "Thermos" since that was their chief competitor's name. In any event that looks like it's in good shape, a decent repaint of the tank portion and it would look like brand new.

    I saw someone mentioned wicks...you can still buy genuine Aladdin wicks and hundreds of other ones on Mike Stair's web site...I have this heater as well as the perfection heaters...although I like the perfections much better this old Aladdin is pretty cool too...I think I will restore it and paint it up next summer...when I got it it was pretty bad with old bad kero sitting in, a stuck 50 year old wick and parts that would not come apart...a few days and some wd40 helped out a great deal..boy does it crank out the heat...although unlike perfection heaters, the aladdins to have a smell when buring

      old comment but just stumbled upon this video... they are called "aladdin blue flame heater" pretty much every aladdin ive ever owned or seen burns with a blue flame, its due to the design of the wicks central part allowing oxygen to be drawn into the flame to produce the burn.

    • @Kelemen1
      @Kelemen1 5 років тому

      It literally says on the heater to only burn it with a blue flame to protect the wick

    I think you may be thinking of the gas mantle lamps not a kerosene heater, those mantle lamps usaully run off of naptha or propane. In any event the thorium is only mildly radioactive, likely used because it can reach whit hot temperatures without melting.

    • @johnwyman6331
      @johnwyman6331 6 років тому

      OlegKostoglatov The Aladdin company is still around, and they still make their kerosene mantle lamps. Their new mantels don't have radioactive thorium in them anymore, but you can still find old ones with the thorium that are supposedly brighter.

    The only drawback to this that I can see, is that they vent carbon monoxide and perhaps a bit of other fumes into the space being heated. Anybody know the specific fuel consumption. PS.. yes they will run on diesel fuel.

    • @n2n8sda
      @n2n8sda 6 років тому

      diesel fuel will ruin the wick and has very very noxious additives to it. they run clear kerosene, they draw 0.246l/h

    • @johnwyman6331
      @johnwyman6331 6 років тому

      Capt Larry - I've heard others claim you can use diesel fuel, but only if you use an all cotton wick. Apparently the fiberglass wicks clogged up or something.

    • @n2n8sda
      @n2n8sda 6 років тому

      Alladin stoves only use cotton wicks. However, I would never run diesel in one. They are designed to run refined clear kero (JIS 1 in Japan) Diesel contains sulphur, detergants and other nasty stuff that will not only clog the wick but will produce nasty byproducts when burned at the low temperature of these heaters.
