How We Shear Llamas Standing
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 чер 2024
- How we shear a llama ; a few tips and tricks! This is a llama from a rescue that is not handled often. Most llamas we shear are not touchable or halter broken. This guy spends all his time in the pasture and this was our first encounter. As a side note, we use this with all camelids we shear and never use sedation. This can be very dangerous work and we do not recommend trying this without the guidance and supervision of an experienced mentor.

Welcome back. You've been missed a lot. I hope everything is good with you. Looking forward to seeing you more. ❤
I've missed you and your vlogs! Hope all is well
Your response to the llama is delightful to watch. No force, just gentle nudges and patience. Wonderful video.
Welcome back. I’ve missed your videos.
Ikr. I thought it was the algorithms. I missed my fav non traditional couple.
Yes he was a good patient Lama, but YOU are such a knowledgeable and patient shearer. You are the champion !!! Bravo !!!
Simply the best, the best,bbbest
Love your empathy. Exactly the kind of person that should be working with animals ❤
I never thought that I was interested in livestock of any kind, but watching you work is very interesting and oddly soothing as well. Your way with the animals is beautiful to see. Thank you.
He certainly appreciated your kindness and consideration towards him. Well done.
I have watched other people shear llamas and how they handled them. You are the absolute best. You are always patient with them and how skittish they are. This is why your channel is the only shearing channel that I subscribed to thank you for sharing.
I really missed you Katie. I hope all is well with you and your wife. That llama must have read your mind and decided to play along with you. 🩷
I've missed y'all, ladies. It's so good seeing y'all, and I'm glad you are doing well.
Love to watch you work, you clearly care about the animal and his well being. Brute force is not your thing and I admire that very much.
You've been missed! ❤️🤗❤️
The one in the back like “Greg? Greg, you okay? What’s happening?” 😂
Your understanding and patience towards all the animals you shear is to be commended 👏.
This is similar to a particular dog groomer whose channel I watch in that they both understand the animal's body language, know from prior experience what's going to happen when they process a particular part of the animal (like its legs), and do their best to build trust with the animal. So they're both good at what they do, whether it's grooming a huge Alaskan Malamute dog or a skittish llama.
For a first time, you 2 got along pretty well. It is nice that you really understand the animals.
Welcome back. You ladies are a positive internet influence in a lot of ways…
How did you know how badly I needed this video right now?
I've missed your videos. Welcome back!
Yassssss I'm so glad to see y'alls videos again . I love the the ending "Shear On" that's awesome. 💯🙏❤🇺🇸
Omg welcome back missed your videos
That llama is being very patient as you shear him and it's clear he is trusting you alot
I love that you have a llama supervisor. ☺️
This is Katie, the llama whisperer! He’s beautiful with his new haircut!
Thank you for explaining the procedures! I learn a lot and enjoy watching each animal treated with love and respect. 🩷 Glad you are back! ❤
Glad you’re back! I look forward to your videos ❤
So happy to see ya’ll back. That guy is a prince of a llama.
I never plan to have an animal that needs shearing, let alone do it myself. However, I love watching you do it. Fascinating ❤
Not just a groomer, an animal psychologist too. 👍👍
I haven’t seen you for a while. It’s nice to see you back. I love this. It’s fantastic. You’re so wonderful with these guys and he looks great. I have three standard poodles that I grew myself and I look at this llama and just laugh and think oh the potential.🤣🤣🤣
I was just thinking about you last week! Glad you're doing well and happy pride! ✨
Wonderful video! I loved the llama-handling tips and learning the term 'halter mullet'. He seems like a very nice llama.
Loved the post. So glad to see your experiences on line again. Your methods are terrific.
I love the care you and your wife take with the animals ❤️ the trust you put before profit you girls are awesome 😊
Love your videos, glad you’re back. You have been missed. Your gentleness with animals. Says a lot about the person that you are. I believe in karma you get what you give. Stay safe and have a good day.
It's good to see you again Katie. This was fascinating to watch. I didn't realize there were different hair cuts for lamas.
So cool.!! You are so gentle. And smart.
I tried to send Eddyfamilyfarm over to your channel for tips and tricks on how to shear their llamas. They live in southern Oklahoma by Sulphur. They have 4 llamas. I dont think they did come to see any of your videos. But i think your videos are very detailed of what to do and what not to do for llamas, alpacas and sheep. Sheep is my favorite livestock animal.
Good video 😊
I think I love you darlin! I love that you called them “arms”. They ARE arms. I call our pups front legs arms, too. Great video. I really enjoy these satisfying looks into your craft. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic video, you were so kind and thoughtful to the animal❤️
00:34 the Lama in the back “ooh what’s happening over here?” 15seconds later “eh, I’m over it.” 😅
I have missed you, too. You are so gentle with all of them. It doesn’t matter whether you’re dealing with llamas, sheep or whatever. It’s a pleasure to watch both of you. Take care.
I love how gentle you are with the animals. As soon as they see you're not going to hurt them they relax a little.
Well that was very interesting, I didn't know all that. You certainly know what your doing and you do it with a lot of concern and care for the animal.
That halter information is important. So observant.
The Llama in the background watching your every move! 😂
Awesome video, skills right there! 🎉
HELLO 👋👋👋👋👋🤗. I've missed y'all a lot! It's great to see you again! Don't say away so long 😅❤❤
Great job you are a natural teacher
Kindness cut❤ Professional tutorial thanks
I wish I could be around llamas all the time. They're such odd and adorable creatures. You do a good job shearing them.
Watching this is the first time i realised how loud those clippers are. They sound like some of my power tools. Do you normally wear hearing protection when using them?
Yay! New shearing season! Love how you showed him respect and he paid you in kind. Keep up the good work ladies 🫶
Nice to see you all again!
Love you of you and your's job
Its interesting to hear the sound of the blades change as they heat up/lose lubrication/dull down
I’m so glad to
See you doing videos again! You are so patient with the animals!
Very interesting & educational. Love the naked cut showing the beautiful color of his markings. Y’all ROCK!
I really enjoyed this video. You usually do them so quickly that it’s hard to see what you’re doing. Showing the step-by-step was extremely interesting and I’m glad you did it for us.
Missed you Katie and Darien !! Hope you are doing well and I appreciate the newer, longer videos that educate, but I know they take so much longer to film and edit. Other sites seem to only focus on how fast the sheep and llamas are sheared. I know you are so capable of incredible shearing speed, but learning from you is so appreciated !! I am blessed with a horse, 2 dogs and 2 goats. So, thanks for the extra chat. I know you have to be fast movers with season coming up- take care with these awful temperatures. Be well !!
I agree w/ the no grabbing ears thing. Horses don't like it either, & they don't forget it. Rubbing the ears gently & just messing w/ them is a fine distraction....😊
Watching this slowly and intently despite never seeing an irl lama in my life🤣
😂
Watching you is so relaxing. Thank you ❤
He was a very good boy! Proud of him! You did an excellent job on him too. Proud of you!
love how you work "with" the animal and, in turn build trust that will serve a lifetime.
Thanks, really enjoy watching the shearing! Years ago I had llamas & alpacas, very soothing to shear. Thanks for sharing. 🦙
Sure is good to see you post. Hope all is well.
Glad to see this longer video. I’m not too keen on “shorts” so thank you for filming more and talking us through this trim. Love your shearing videos!
I love watching you do ur thing it’s so relaxing to watch 💜
The one in the back is like, Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee! You are going to be cool too, deep in the heat of Texas!❤❤❤
Hi Katie! Happy Pride month! 🌈
Hope y’all are staying well hydrated in this hot weather! Glad to see a video!!! Missed y’all!
You have me addicted
I love how you are considerate of the animals feelings.❤
Great video! Great camera work!
Congrats!!!! Really amazing!!! You have wonderful hands and such a kind heart!!!!! ❤❤
I was watching a vet program on TV where they were attempting to shear. The first things that popped into my head as they failed were: they're not doing that right, those shears are dull af, and they need to call you two.
You are so patient and calm. Nice to see you back. You are so enjoyable to watch. I just watched the other you posted that hadn't been shorn in 5 years and the difference between the fleece is amazing.
I love ❤ how gentle you handle the animals!
Love ❤ and greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
❤love how you respect the animal.

You are one of the best! It is always fun to watch you. Thank you!
That’s a beautiful llama 🌿💚🌿
Wow, this seemed like a pretty co-operative llama, compared to the one video I watched with the crazy spitting llama! Great job!
You are great with that animal. You respect him and I think he knew that. You’re really good at you job and should be very proud.
Awesomely informative... Thank you xxx
I'm so glad to see you carrying on doing the wonderful work you do, caring so much for the animal as you work! Thank you and may you have a safe and healthy year!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
