Swapping 9006 Type LED Bulbs in 93-97 Camaro STOCK sealed beam Retrofit

- Its not exactly what I am looking for but in a pinch it gets the job done. I will let you all know how other feel about them and if I get high beamed or pulled over etc. They are definitely a good option to go with over HID bulbs. There is no warm up time to full on like filament style bulbs and the light output is super bright.

Sorry for the shaky camera, I didnt have my tripod on me.
The factory sealed beam lights are H4351 and fit 93-97 Chevrolet Camaro, 93-93 Geo Storm, 92-97 Oldsmobile Cutlass, 91-96 Pontiac Grand Prix. I can confirm they fit the Camaro and I am pretty sure they will fit the others.
When your floating down a gravel road and can barely see shit, time to upgrade.
Lol
...my 95 should like this upgrade!!!
Lmk how it went i want to do the same for my 95
I think I'm gonna replace my stock shitty LT1 lights with these! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait for the next video!
Totally, that's the only thing I miss from my 1998 Z28..proper headlights!
Great video thanks brother. I like the upgrade to the lights. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again
Thanks for watching brother!
Well done video with lots of information.... good job my friend. You covered everything. I have a 94 Z that still has the original bulbs in it. Thinking of LED's. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. Its a quick fix for these cars.
Biggest downside with this, is if you reuse your original bulb housing (the actual square bulb that most people see) then it could be TOO bright, which could get you in trouble with a cop depending on how bored they are... the original housing is designed for the halogen bulbs, so its a LOT more reflective than these LED bulbs need. That's what leads to the occasional "ohgod that car's lights are wayyyyy too bright and blinding me even though they're not clicked to the high beams" situation that you come across at night when driving on the freeway. For best results, replace the housing with something less reflective too!
Or just buy LEDs that aren't crazy bright
"I'm happy with that." That's what she said. This was very good.
Thanks man! I didnt know if they would fit. I am getting the car ready for next month's cruise to the beach!
What steering wheel is that ????? I need to know !
That's what she said. haha
On the drivers side behind the low beam I still have that plastic scoop for the original airbox rattling around in there. How did you get yours out? im thinking just slice it up in place until it comes out... I'm not gonna use it again...
I dont recall having this maybe it was a later year thing or the previous owner took it out on mine. Next early 4th I see Ill look to see if its there
I did this in mine. Factory high intensity "ultra white" bulbs are actually much brighter ON THE ROAD, where it matters.
What taillights are those?
where can i buy the after market housing so i dont have to glue them up???
Saw a set of eBay a while back. No name brand ones that I know of
Did you take the catalytic converter? Car sounds nice and if so did you pass inspection?
When You Turn The Key Forward Should Both Outside Lights Automatically Turn On. I Have A 97 And When I Turn The Light Switch Nothing Happens On The Outside Headlights ??
If you have drl's you need jumper wire harness / relay for led swap. They dont like to light up on 5v. If no factory drl setup try flipping the plug over it has to see a ground wire on the led that has to be hooked up right to work. Some of the kits have flipable plugs to account for this. (offers it to be used on a wider variety of makes)
Them things still running 5 years later?
Yes the ones I installed in the video are still in the housings and are working just fine
I love the 93-97 camaro Headlights over the 98-02 headlights I wonder if there's a way to swap one onto it
There are much more options for the 98-02 headlights, like these beauties

Id say go with what you like. I like the old style squares. Its the same car under both bodies
@@CamaroRick Exactly I do too, I have a 98 and thought about seeing if the I can just replace the front fenders and hood from the 98 to a 97 or earlier because I prefer the square ones
@@MortalZombieDog Its all nuts and bolts. And some splicing of wiring. Years ago I saw a car a guy put a transam front end on his camaro. the doors had to be custom blended to match the rear camaro quarters but it bolted up. I think he called it a "Transmaro" lol I though it was cool. One day I want to buy an LT body Transam.
Nice video. Have you had any issues with vehicle inspections? I ran LEDs on my 2000 Silverado for 3 years until they were rejected this past year. It was rejected because the lenses were not DOT approved for LEDs. The mechanic produced 3 pages of regulations to back him up.
I really don't care because they were presents but I was curious why they passed for 3 years in a row. (they just didn't notice them)
Thats a good point. Im not sure what they would say out here. I know different states and counties have different rules even. Ive never had any issues using them but Ive never put one through inspection. At least its only a 15 minute install
Hi. This led lights ir H7 or H4?
For the 93-97 fbody its single filament. The lights I know that fit I put a link in the description. On these cars there are only 1 filament in each housing. the inner lights are for high beam and outer are low beam. The stock glass housings are lensed differently to provide a different light pattern. If I recall the h4 bulb is a dual filament and h7 is a single.
Hi I follow this video and did the same and works awesome congratulations broth , I recommend to people to do this in the Camaros , by the way do you have something like that for fog lights if you don’t mind 🍷 thanks and congratulations again
Glad it worked out for you, My car doesn't have fog lights but the fog light bulb is normally replaceable by itself (unlike the sealed beam headlights) on these cars so the LED equivalent will just plug in. I believe the fog light bulb in 93 calls for an 896 bulb but double check for yourself.
How do you change the License plate bulb?
May be two T15 torx bit screws just under the license plate opening. Sockets will twist off the housing. Its usually 2 "194" bulbs
Now that these have been in there for a few years, have they worked out pretty good?
They are still working great, I am happy with the mod. Cant beat it for the price to performance
Good Video 😎 Are the Oem bulb in one pice to the lamp? I have a Camaro to and my lamp is in the Sky 🙈😂 Can i adjustment the Oem lamp?
Yes they are re-glued to the glass like factory. The whole housing is adjustable like factory. Just make sure when you initially glue the new ones back in that you have the LED chips pointing horizontal left to right and not straight up inside the glass housing.
@@CamaroRick Thank you very much 👍
These plug right into the original wiring? And also does this work for all 4 bulbs?
Yes they are the same plug. I have not tested them on the high beam location but they look like they will fit
That cam sounds real good do u have headers?
Thanks! Kooks headers, adjustable borla catback with a qtp cutout
Looks like they give off a lot of glare
Yea they do unfortunately, but they are alot better than an HID retrofit imo. They still are no where near projectors. When I get some time I want to try out a custom lens and a internal blockoff plate idea. I need to get some good optical epoxy and mold making materials. There may even be aftermarket light housings that dont have any refraction in the lens already out there Ill have to check.
So is that the exact size Bulb to get in the link if So can someone tell me what size to get because it’s not wanting to pull up properly for me
Those are the exact bulbs I used. What do you mean pull up
They are type 9006 LED bulbs
I cannot get the link to work on my iPad
Was able to get it to work on my Galaxy note 8 though just tried
@@justinhaycook8561 Glad it worked out. Good luck with the swap you will love it.
How are they holding up after a couple years?
The lights are working great still. One of the headlights I used I took the lens off of started to leak around the glass but its not required to do this swap. I just resealed it and it has been great. since.
I need to do this with my 97 SS, those yellow factory guide lights gotta go. How are your leds holding up?
They are still working great, Initially that 1 lense I removed had leaked water inside of it when I went to cruising week over 1 years ago but it didn't even phase the bulb. I have since cleaned it up and resealed the lense side without any problems.
@@CamaroRick any issues with flickering ?
@@LeoM-zt3pl No flickering. I have not had any issues since installed.
@@CamaroRick I've read that some cars have issues with led flicker when running as DRL off low beam. Does yours have DRL? Legal requirement in Canada, not sure if it applies to USA.
@@LeoM-zt3pl DRL's were a long way away when this car was made! I would imagine the problem is from lack of voltage. LED's have a specific usable threshold for voltage. These say 9v-32v on the box but I would recommend at least 11v to 13v for a safe bet.
DRL's may be as low as 3 to 6 volts and may not be enough.
What hood is that on the car
Its a no brand deal I bought back in 2009. It has the LS1 underside with the air intake in the front center which is why I got it. It fit like crap but after a lot of modifying and reshaping mainly on the front where it meets the bumper I got it to fit decent. It still is a little high on the front corners but I got some quick release hood pins I need to get around to installing that will make it fit better. The main look of the hood is its the 98-02 scoop on an LT1 car.
@@CamaroRick it's a great looking car I'm picking up as black 1 with a stroker in it today I plan on getting the zr1 rims and a similar hood
