Day In The Life of a Female Chemical Tanker Driver | Schneider PAID me $350

  • This was my first attempt at making a vlog. It is not perfect by any means. I tried to film a day in a life, but I decided to show you multiple clips about what happens to me over the course of several days. This is a tough job. With the temperatures rising, I have to deal with discomfort for hours while I unload these hazardous chemicals. Last week was my worse week on this dedicated account. I only drove 700 miles. Freight has been up and down. 6 drivers have resigned over the last 2 months due to the constant changes in pay and inconsistency in freight. Also, I was mistaken. After looking at my pay stubs, I was actually paid $350 dollars for 700 miles. My pay is supposedly 52 CPM, but I am only paid 50 CPM for anything under 1000 miles, after observing my other paychecks. Obviously the pay is not on par. However, I HAVE to constantly remind myself of this: Everything in life is temporary. Everyone has the power to change their circumstances.
    Also, I blurred out a bunch of stuff, which was very hard to do. I hope it’s not too distracting. I did the best I could.

    I loved driving for Schneider bulk division. In 2011, I was making $300 a week. I would do 1 trip a week, and when I got back to Keasby, NJ. I might move tankers from one yard to another yard, and that was my week. Many times, I had Sat, Sun, and Mon off. It's sounds like Schneider is doing the same thing in 2024. Keep your head. Something great will happen for you in the trucking industry.

    Stick it out driver! The pay will improve at your next job after you gain some experience. I’m a ex Schneider tanker driver. Worked out of the Coropolis PA terminal for almost 2 yrs., still drive tanker but not for Schneider.
    Not sure where you live but sheetz is hiring fuel haulers out of Neville island staring pay of 38.65 per hr, local, 4 day work weeks time and half over 40. I don’t work there but I’ve considered it. I live In Cleveland now which sheetz is hiring there too.
    The thing is they want experienced drivers.
    2 yr minimum if you complete there training corse or 4 yr min and you can skip that.
    That could be a job to try to get if you can stick it out at Schneider a bit longer.
    Wish you the best.
    Just remember there are many worse starter company’s you could have chosen to work at.
    Go listen to what people say about CR England or CRST.

    I refuel at Love’s 75% of the time even though I get reminded by my DTL from time to time to use Pilot. Agree with you pay is always changing…..never for the better….advantage always leans to big orange. Keep your head up, there are always bad weeks….just not as frequent. Nuke power plant deliveries are interesting, definitely something different. Nice post-trip! Stay safe…!!

      That is really interesting. I can fuel at Pilot, Loves or TA. Stopped using the fuel solution on the ELD; only when in unfamiliar territory….which is rare. I would check with other drivers at your OC if they have the same restrictions on their fuel card. Not to say that big orange doesn’t have different policies in different areas….we know how that goes. Here’s hoping you have a better week ahead…!! Sometimes it can be crazy busy also!!

    • @MrSamadolfo
      @MrSamadolfo 4 місяці тому

      @@Tay.juhWoods 🙂 for a solution to the fuel solution, try if this works: when u get to the truck stop, bring up the fuel solution thingy and request a new fuel solution, it should ask u wheres your fuel level at? so tell the fuel solution that ur tank is at Zero or almost Zero, send in the request, the fuel solution should calculate and figure out that the nearest fuel stop from your present location is the truck stop you are presently at because u told the fuel solution that your running on fumes, if it works then u should be good to go, the only other thing to worry about is how long does it take for the fuel solution to update your fuel card? How many minutes? You mite want to first go inside the truck stop and freshen up while ur waiting for everything to update so that when you get back to the truck u can fuel up with no problems once u pull up to the fuel island.

Companies cant seem to understand the state of mind this puts drivers in. I was considering tanker hazmat division for schneider but now im also considering intermodal. If im gonna be bringing home $500 a week Id rather be at home, in or near Houston. These companies need to get out of the habit of lying to drivers. Is thr no driver retention pay with this company???

  • @Blacktopcowboy
    @Blacktopcowboy 4 місяці тому +3

    350 bucks for just going 700 miles is pathetic. If you were working with dollar general on their fleet, you’d still probably bring in about $1000 a week. I’ve heard that Schneider is good for training, but I chose not to go with them, because when I saw the pay and what other drivers of sad I knew I couldn’t put myself through that. Props to you for trying though. It’s a bit of a myth that companies won’t take you if you have more than one job in a year. It really comes down to the recruiter, but there are a few companies that are specialize that kind of consider that. Really when you can explain to them why you’re leaving that’s usually enough. Be it for home time or because your pay isn’t consistent or just not enough to even live off of. Nobody driving and working almost 70 hours a week should make under $1000. The problem with what recruiters tell you you’re going to make is they always go by the top drivers, and it could be drivers that are in areas of the country that already pay more than usual. So it just creates a really toxic situation for everybody coming in. No one wants to stay because they were promised $100,000. When in reality they’re going to make about 50 or 60. To me it be better just to say hey you could make 65 to 70 average. That way if you just come a little short, you’re not that upset. Still even if your home daily drivers that are doing that should be making at least 65K. Sadly, this industry is turning into one where most drivers come and go within the first two years. It no longer pays to have experience.

      @user-oc5mw2bb6g 4 місяці тому +1

      Yes Walmart pays pretty good, their system is kinda different you basically kinda dispatch yourself as a driver you set your ETD(estimated time of departure) which means the time you’re going to be ready to depart the DC I’m on a stay on schedule with a 23:00 out the gate time. So what you’ll do once you’re empty at your last stop you let them know when you’ll be ready. How you set your time you factor in whether you want to take a shower, go get something to eat, fueling your tractor and anything else you need to do. Are they strict yes, nitpicking sometimes but it’s worth it because they will bend over backwards for you they just expect you to do things their way

    • @user-oc5mw2bb6g
      @user-oc5mw2bb6g 4 місяці тому

      Sherwin Williams pays pretty good money to coz they haul their own products just like Walmart, Ashley Furniture Industry is another one that pays pretty decent why because they haul their own product imo private fleets are the way to go if you can get on with them

    Allow me to provide you with a better understanding of why the pay has changed. I presume that your pay per mile has remained unchanged. The change in pay is influenced by the principles of supply and demand. An apt analogy would be the stock market 📈 📉. Currently, there is reduced consumer spending, resulting in lower demand and an oversupply of trucks. This scenario is impacting every trucking company in some way. Two main factors have contributed to the decrease in overall pay rates: a shortage of available loads or the expiration of contracts, and the need for renegotiation in response to the current market downturn.
