Great vlog and some excellent points. I bought a Canon R5 and rented the 100-500 lens. Hmmmm £7500 and as a hobbiest it was just too much and only a one lens kit. So, I bought a used (almost new) D500 and 200-500, went out today for the fist shoot and I am blown away, much more reach and just as many pixels on the subject. Oh and £5500 cheaper, ok its not as good as the R5 but I don't do video and mainly shoot BIF and wildlife. Love your channel Ian (UK)

Glad to see that you are recommending the Neewer Gimbal, as I have also recently purchased one and think it's amazing quality for the money. I have mounted it on my very old
monster Slik tripod, so it gives me a very sturdy setup. Well done.

Something to note - Megapixels do matter in the body of your camera. Lower megapixels = less noise in a low light environment. DX format cameras are great for lowlight and capturing images with less noise. Most of the time when shooting out in the forest and trying to tag small birds, it's going to be a lower light condition, regardless of time of day (: Great video! Have a good day!

This is so wrong! I shoot DX for the multiplication factor, but pixel density is what matters. FX is a bigger sensor so it has less pixel density at a given MP. Heat is the enemy when it comes to noise. DX will always generate more heat per MP. Smaller sensor equals more heat/noise per MP.

@@RylansAmazingPhotography Hi, you do awesome videos. Keep posting more! I just got this lens for my D3500. I've been noticing that it is slower to autofocus and does focus hunting. Is it because of 3500's slower focusing system or a lens issue? Also, does it usually make a chattering noise while focusing?

Pure amateur info. I watched the first 5 minutes and you didn't say anything that most of us don't already know. A crop sensor body doesn't change the focal length, it simply crops it from the 35mm size sensor on a full format. Although the lens is a very good lens for the price it generally has better image quality on a full sensor body. Here is my take for what it is worth. Shoot full frame, manual settings with ISO priority making sure it doesn't get too high. Continuous high shooting mode with a shutter speed of at least 250. If you have the proper light this will work for birds.

You are technically correct in that a crop sensor body does not change the actual focal length of the lens, but the crop factor effectively increases the focal length by a factor of 1.5x, 1.6x or 2x depending on which body make you are using. In other words a 100-400mm lens on a Canon 90D is effectively a 160-640mm lens and this can be a big advantage if you can't afford a 600mm F/5.6 lens.
You may have known all the info presented, but someone just starting out may not have known any of it.
