Amazing how popular bird photography is where you live. I never see any other photographers when I go birding(Australia), which is sad as we have so many great species.
Oz Dutchy, I can't seem to reply to your comments directly. In my experience, The Nikon is much better than the Tamron 150-600 V1. I moved from that lens to the Nikon. I also tried the Tamron 150-600 v2 at the same time I tried the Nikon. The Nikon produced superior images right out of the box. I can't speak for the Sigma because I didn't try it. I can't say enough good things about the Nikon though. I think this lens will go down in history as the best zoom in that range for the price.
Love these shots, so sharp. I have a D750 but I'm torn between getting a Tamron 150-600 G2 and the Nikon 200-500. They both seem pretty awesome value but you might just be convincing me to get the Nikon :)
Great vid, awesome shots of the birds. I have had the D500 and nikon 200-500 combo for about a year and can't say enough on how great a setup they are. I live and work in Yellowstone and mostly photograph animals but occasionally birds too. Keep up the good work.
I am also enjoying your videos - and your commentary! Years ago I took a hawk course from Bud Anderson in Skagit County, Washington. That was back in the mid-90s, before all the great technology we have today. When I watch your videos and comments about bird and other wildlife behavior, I remember Bud telling us that video clips showing bird behavior was very valuable, and to share it. These days there is so much opportunity to share with the tech that we have. Thank you for sharing, and keep up the good work!
Those silhouette shots are remarkable and wish I could claim them as my own. Such are the rewards for rolling out of bed early and following your photographic passion!
Thanks. I really like the silhouette shots too. You know what they say, "The early bird gets the worm." And I say, "The early photographer gets the bird."
Thanks! I also have the Tamron 150-600. It would occasionally lose all focus ability and have to be reseated in order to start working again. I went to a local store and tried the newer version and the Nikon. I couldn't believe the difference. I walked out with the Nikon.
Thanks so much for your wonderful videos...I love your enthusiasm and vision. I am currently saving for a longer lense and I think I may have found the one. Keep up the great work!
I left the computer and youtube as I got up, and get ready for bed, 20 min later I get back to this lovely video playing on screen, very cosy just before bed :) I was kinda upset from the news today but this was a nice reminder of something else. keep it up!
Thanks for the compliments and thanks for helping ID that bird. Viera Wetlands is very popular in Spring. Things are slowing down but I have been back and still find great stuff to shoot.
I just got this lens for Christmas yesterday and will be using with my D7200 camera. I really like that you show your settings with each photo. I noticed the wide range of ISO settings and wondered if you have the camera set on auto ISO or do you adjust it yourself for the changing light.
This 200-500 lens is arriving in the post tomorrow and can't wait to pair it with my D500 to shoot some pics. Great informative videos you have here of pics taken with the same SLR/lens combination. Thank you! :-)
Love these videos they will inspired even the novice photographer into going out and taking photos. Also the info on each photo gives an idea of how to take the photos. The explanation is simple without going into all the specs just camera and lens and with the right combination of these our photos should be as sharp. Thanks Mark for helping the photographer's World. Keep these videos going.
Thanks so much for all the great compliments. I really enjoy knowing everyone is getting something out of the videos. I have plenty more videos planned.
hey amazing set of videos..you get better and better with the composition, story telling and detailing for every next shot. Ur set of videos r great for any bird lover and photographers to watch. thank you for the effort..keep up the gud work :)
Your videos and pics are so well done, colorful, and I enjoy your commentary, too. Just subscribed! I own the D500 and the 80-400mm af-s. Good combo, and while I mainly shoot birds, it lets me do some landscape shots, too, with the wider 80mm :) Keep up the good work!
Thanks! The D500 is great and I am pretty certain it will work great with almost any lens. I have used several lenses on it. I have some lenses that I mostly use on my D810. I have used a 20mm, a 50mm, and a 90mm macro. They have all produced excellent results on the D500. The only problem is my sore back carrying all that gear around in a backpack!
Love your videos. Thinking about the D500 for my step up from d5200. Im a nature nut also!!!! Ill definitely be hitting you up with questions!! Thanks in advance!
Great video Mark. I'm only going to have the 150-600mm combo for the foreseeable. As much as I'd love the 200-500!! you've got some good captures with the tamron if I remember correctly.
I was talking to a friend this evening when he saw me walking with my camera. I finally now know why I having issues taking sharp bird pix here in DE. Our birds here are blurry:-0) Great work Mar. Absolutely love the video and the shots. Keep it coming. Going to have to put that lens on the 'list'. Jim
It is also how I knew my wife needed glasses....she was blurry! Great job Mark. Fun watching for you to post. I did take some decent shots of the nieces on Easter but the were not flying or roosting.
Mark Smith, if you ever get out to Michigan, drop out to Kensington Metropark. There is a rookery on an island and there's a boardwalk that allows photographers to get shots of the Great Blue Herons, Egrets, and Cormorants in the trees on the island. It's good and close where the 200-500 mm lens reaches them nicely. The song birds out on the trails will actually come up to you for sunflower seeds people give them as well. Well, I would love to go to Michigan. I hear the UP is incredible. I will hold you to your offer too. I would love to tour the park with you. It sounds absolutely fantastic!
Thanks. I have been following those baby cranes since they were born and have captured some truly incredible footage of their lives so far. They are just over two months old now, well the surviving one is. I am planning on making a documentary style video using all the footage. It has been incredible to witness their extremely delicate lives. A real eye opening experience for me.
Thanks for the great infotainment Mark. Thinking about this combination and the more I watch your videos the more I'm being convinced to jump ship.Currently I have a Canon 7d mkii and the 300 f/4 prime but I'm not 100% happy with it, especially in lower light conditions. I am somewhat worried about the size of that lens for carrying around for long periods of time ? I was considering the Nikon 300 pf/4 prime. Any thoughts ?
Thanks again Mark, great stuff as always! Got my Nikkor 200-500 ordered and on the way, can't wait! Oh btw, that's a Honey bee in the upper left corner to click on not a Bumble bee ;)
Espectaculares imagenes Mark,mi intención es adquirir este objetivo y la verdad que estoy cada vez mas convencido de que la d500 es la pareja perfecta para deportes, exelentes videos y un saludo.
Mark Smith: Cracking shots, they really showcase the D500/200 - 500mm f5.6 combination. Though a bit hefty, it is my favourite set up. I bought a gimbal for mine but find I still handhold most of the time. Have you tried out the D500 with the Nikkor 300mm f4 PF VR (+/- the Nikkor TC14EIII)? It is a beautifully lightweight combination which provides excellent IQ.
Thanks for the compliments. I haven't tried that lens teleconverter combo but you are the third or fourth person to recommend it so I may have to give it a closer look. I know the 200-500 is a bit on the heavy side!
I have a D810 and interested in this lens and wild life photography. I don’t want to go get a D500 or any other camera body. What is your take on this lens pairing for birds (or FX bodies if you have never shot with D810)? Thank you.
Mark, enjoy your videos and especially your conversational and informative style. Short and to the point -- image and tech data and most importantly the result. Question; why do you leave your D500 set to a -0.3 bias? I use same set up, D500 w/Nikon 200 - 500 and love it - sometimes with the 1.4 tele converter. I mostly shoot birds and wildlife. Thanks keep up the good work. Michael
Thanks so much. I mainly use the -0.3 for white birds. It seems to capture more detail in the feathers for me and prevents blowing out the highlights. How do you like 1.4 converter? I am thinking about picking one up in the future.
Mark, it's excellent and worth getting -- Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-14E III. Very compact. You'll lose a stop but outdoors, no problem. Still very sharp images. I can send you some recent shots from South Carolina.
Mark Smith I am a big fan of your video's. I own a Nikon D750. Since it's not a D500 could you give me some advise if it will work out with the 200-500mm? Your pictures are great!
Thanks so much for the great compliments. Yes, the 200-500 will work great on the D750. I have used it on my D810 without any issues. I just prefer it on the D500 for the speed and focus ability of the D500. I think the best investment with photography is always good glass or lenses. The 200-500mm is an excellent lens and in the future if you decided to add another camera body (perhaps the D500) to your arsenal, then you would already own the great piece of glass.
Great videos man, and awesome shoots. I just got myself a D500 and i can't wait to go out and do some wildlife shooting. I have one question which i didn't see covered on your videos, and it's in reference to the D500 settings, i was wondering if you set HDR to on and Also Active D-Lighting modes on the camera, if you do, what setting do you use for each one? Thanks in advance!
Nice video Mark, I have the same combination and also very impressed with both the camera and the lens. I have noticed a slight bit of rotational slop with the lens and the camera mount. Was wondering if you have experienced the same. The quality of the images are not affected but I have this issue with no other lens but the 200-500
+TIM Schlarman Thanks and yes I have noticed that the lens seems to have a little bit of play where it connects to the body. I have noticed it most when I carry it for long periods with two hands. I support the lens with my left hand and the body with my right, almost like carrying a rifle. I can then notice the lens moves ever so slightly.
i have the d500 and nikor 200-500 but alot of my osprey shots in flight are looking not sharp at all. I'm shooting with my back to the sun, with light right on them, they aren't far away. they fil the frame when I'm shooting, but when I go back it just looks grainy....any suggestions? 1/2000 . f5.6 manual mode. Ive done some egrets in flight tack sharp but every osprey shot looks like garbage lol
AWESOME shots and videos! Do you experience abnormal batt drain with your D500? My last outing with a D500 it completely drained out a fully charged Li20 batt in 4 hours. Very startling low batt compared to my current D7000
Thanks! I'm not sure what abnormal battery drain is. I will usually kill at least one battery on a morning outing that lasts a few hours. I do use the back screen functions a lot. That might be what sucks up the battery power.
nice video.... sir.,2 weeks back only I upgraded to d500 and 200-500 but when I watched ur videos photos from same combination are more sharper and details are great than mine can u pls share camera some settings... sir..
Thanks so much! I made a series of videos that show my settings. You can view them here: ua-cam.com/play/PLwmt8qwjXqIficY71Q3jdyxqzTaZlryG8.html If you need any additional info feel free to email me @ marksmithphotos@gmail.com
Hi mark.. great video. Its motivating very much. How do you thing the combination with D7200 with nikon 200-500?. Planning to get one for wild life shoot.
hey Mark great video... are these shots taken handheld? actually i am a little torn between Tamron G2 & the Nikon 200-500mm to pair up with d500.. any thoughts you would like to share. thanks.
Thanks! Yes, these are all handheld. I have shot the Nikon 200-500 at 1/100 handheld with great results. I suggest trying both lenses. That's what I did. I liked the results of the Nikon much better.
Sir, its a great video. The images came out really razor sharp. I own a D7200 along with Nikkor 200-500mm lens. Is this a good combination for wild life/bird photography ? Also I would like to know about the focus modes, focussing points to be selected and metering modes as well for bird photography.
I AF-C and group focus. I will also use single point as necessary. I generally stick with matrix metering and use exposure compensation when necessary. It really all depends on the situation. There is on one setup that works at all times.
Nice videos you have going on. I have some pictures of some American Avocets that looks like they're dancing because of the fast shutter speed when they where really fighting over a female American Avocet.
I bought the 200 - 500 Nikon - I use it with the D850. In some settings I keep getting err messages and the shutter speed goes to 8000 then focus stops. I wonder if anyone had similar issues.
I noticed your at -0.3 step '' is that after post or on board setting? I am thinking on buying the 200-500 Nikkor I shoot in the Florida everglades , flat land and more sun that i need so I am not concerned with the 5.6 just need better glass and more zoom .
Mark or anyone, I have a question about my D500 that is really bugging me. When I look at the review screen I have gotten myself into a screen with a very small picture and lots of info around it. I don't know how I got it into this setting and CERTAINLY don't know how to get out of it. Help.
I am a canon guy going to Nikon either a d500 or a d850 with the 200-500mm Nikon tele . Great buy on the d500 now but the sensor is only 20mp compared to twice the size in the full frame d850. From your wonderful images the d500 looks great. Do you find the d850 with the larger sensor and this lens produce much better images than the d500 or is the extra sensor size ( same pixel density) not really that important. Do you really see a huge jump in detail in the typical image. Thanks ..love your videos Rick, Virginia
I personally do see a bump in quality. You have a little more freedom to crop with the D850 but at the cost of a slower FPS. I've also noticed the D850 is a little slower to acquire and lock focus as well. I really like both cameras equally and will shoot them both all the time. There are times when I can't decide which camera body to use. I know that is a "tough" decision to have.
Cool video. I told you that American Bittern was at Viera. I have been photographing that bird every March for 3 years. Sadly, Viera is changing as the palm trees die from the water. Where there were 10 Great Blue Heron nests there is now only 2-3. It just means you need to look a little closer. This was the first year I had both the D500 and 200mm-500mm. You are so right about them. Last year I had the 200-500 with the D7200 and they did a great job just not as good
Thanks! You were 100% correct and I bet it was in the same location too. I think some of the palms are gone from hurricane Matthew. I know it was really close to Viera and a lot of great birding areas are now vacant as a result. There is one location in Vero that is almost leveled. All the trees are gone and it was a local hot spot for barred owls. They are now all gone.
That bird is always in the same 20 feet of "reeds". The palms have been dying since it was built they just can't have their "feet" in water. Interesting about Matthew. Spend a lot of our time in FL in Vero. Sister in law has a business there. (Got a Dog?). The only damage I noted was at Ft DeSoto it just about ruined the area by cutting off the estuary and depositing a sandbar about 50 yards off shore and now the bird hangout there not on the accessible shoreline.
This one was almost directly under a palm tree close to a cement pipe. There was a Heron's nest above the reeds. Yes, I do have a dog. What's the business? Have you been to the west vero waste water treatment area? I have a lot of good stuff from there as well.
Groomingdales, If you go in say hi to Lou he's her partner and runs the business now that she has semi-retired. Next Feb-March let's get together and go to the treatment area. I have seen your shots and it looks great, never been there. BTW this Feb I spoke at the Indian River Photo Club meeting in Vero. Great group. I found I make my money teaching LR and PS
I would love to hit the treatment area with you for sure! I know LR and PS really well. I have been involved with computers since the early 80s. They are both very powerful tools when used correctly and sometimes incorrectly as well.
thanks mate, very helpful. Your UTube video experience is as a clear as a bell here in rural Australia. Isn't the revenue from Google Adsense great?.. of course! I've reached 5K subscribers and 1000+K/month viewers.. which gives OK income on my 4WD & amatuer rocketry channel eh. But yeh, the expenditure in new equipment is expensive. However I note your expenditure on the Nikon D500 & 500mm lens and marvel at the outcome. Must have gear... If you want to bunk me up somewhere less than glamourous, and pay my airfare to the USA, I'll launch a H2O2 rocket into space from your locality. You can have the video rights as long as I have the same "shared" ( 50% ). The birds will be scared but come back the next day. The crocodiles won't give a shit. Earth orbit?.. who knows
Any revenue is always welcome. Cameras and lenses are expensive! I need to save up for the D850! That should be capable of some killer video at 4k full frame.
Hey bud, I've been using the D5500 with the 70-300 Nikon lens for about 2 months now and taken some decent wild life photos with this lens. What next lens could I use to upgrade to next for better zoom and quality that would be better than the 70-300 mm and also around that $200 to $500 dollar price range. I'm looking for a good lens for wildlife. Thanks!!
Sigma makes a 150-600 contemporary lens for right around $850. I hear it is excellent. I own the Tamron 150-600 version 1. It is around the same price and a good lens for the money.
None of the above. I use group focus mostly. I made a few videos showing how I set up the D500 and how I use it. ua-cam.com/play/PLwmt8qwjXqIficY71Q3jdyxqzTaZlryG8.html
That's a tough one because there are so many variables but I have had 10 shots in one burst and all of them are tack sharp. The worst case would be 50%. I would say a solid 80% on average when lighting is good. That's the real important part. I try to do all of my stuff during those sweet golden hours when the light is just right.
I love my 200-500. I use it on both my D810 and D500.
It is a great lens. I haven't tried it yet on my D810. I would imagine that it is superb though.

Thanks so much!

making my first side trip from Merritt Island NWR to Viera next week and you totally inspire me. Love your videos.
Nice. Have a good time. I would suggest trying the Stick Marsh instead. Viera has been slow lately.
Really enjoying your videos, I have the 200-500, now just to upgrade my D7000 to the D500, looks like the perfect combination.
+Steve Kunder Thanks. The D500 is very impressive.
Steve Kunder ; okay thanks , just curious about the underexposed setting. your review is helping me research the Nikkor 200-500 f5.6
+Steve Kunder, I am new to photography and currently have the D7000...and am looking at the 200-500...how does this combo work for you so far?
It's a pleasure watching your videos
Glad you are enjoying them!
Another awesome video Mark.
Thanks!

Another great vid !
Thanks!
Muito bom seu trabalho, parabéns.
Comprei a 200 500 agora, vou praticar com a D750 espero bons resultados.
Great video ... thanks for sharing! I've just got this lens for my D810 and off to try find some puffins this week!
Thanks. I have the D810 too but ever since I got the D500, I haven't used it as much. The 200-500 work great on it too though.
Love your videos. Thinking about the D500 for my step up from d5200. Im a nature nut also!!!! Ill definitely be hitting you up with questions!! Thanks in advance!
The D500 is a great camera and a worthy upgrade from the D5200.
Thanks Mark for a great video. This is my dream camera :)
You are welcome and I hope your dream comes true!
Great video Mark. I'm only going to have the 150-600mm combo for the foreseeable. As much as I'd love the 200-500!! you've got some good captures with the tamron if I remember correctly.
+bennyob01 Thanks and I agree. The Tamron is awesome too.
I was talking to a friend this evening when he saw me walking with my camera. I finally now know why I having issues taking sharp bird pix here in DE. Our birds here are blurry:-0)
Great work Mar. Absolutely love the video and the shots.
Keep it coming.
Going to have to put that lens on the 'list'.

Thank you so much! I think I have heard of those "blurry" birds in DE.
It is also how I knew my wife needed glasses....she was blurry!
Great job Mark. Fun watching for you to post. I did take some decent shots of the nieces on Easter but the were not flying or roosting.
I like your sense of humor and thanks again. At least you got some good shots!
Beautiful
Great and nice video, thank's.

Love the baby Crane footage Mark. Keep up the good work. I always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time where wildlife is concerned!
Thanks. I have been following those baby cranes since they were born and have captured some truly incredible footage of their lives so far. They are just over two months old now, well the surviving one is. I am planning on making a documentary style video using all the footage. It has been incredible to witness their extremely delicate lives. A real eye opening experience for me.
Excellent. It's great fun to follow the progress of a particular bird etc.
nice shots...
Thank you!
Fantastic Videos. Keep up the great work :)
Thanks!
You will love that lens and thanks for the info on the bee!
Espectaculares imagenes Mark,mi intención es adquirir este objetivo y la verdad que estoy cada vez mas convencido de que la d500 es la pareja perfecta para deportes, exelentes videos y un saludo.
gracios
Lovely shots :-)
+strongandco Thanks!
Thank you.
It works but the d810 is too slow for wildlife when compared to the d500 pr d850.
Thanks. That is what I have heard from a few others. They said in good light, it is fantastic. I would love to see a few shots from it.
Thanks so much. I turn all of that stuff off when I shoot.
Love your videos Mark. The shutter is loud on my D500. Do you find that scares the birds?
Thanks. No, the shutter on the D500 is pretty quiet actually. The D850, now that shutter is loud!
That's strange. I've always found ospreys to be the easiest to capture because of their contrasting colors. Not sure on that one.
Mark,
Have you been to the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive in Apopka? That is a birding photo op location.
Yes, I have but I haven't filmed there yet ;)
I live near there and go all the time. Great videos. I am looking at the Nikon 200-500mm lens. I had the Sigma 150-500mm and just sold it.
Thanks so much. I love the Nikon 200-500. It is an incredible lens and I highly suggest it. Try one at a camera shop in Orlando. You won't regret it.
Thanks. I am looking at the reviews on it.
nice video.... sir.,2 weeks back only I upgraded to d500 and 200-500 but when I watched ur videos photos from same combination are more sharper and details are great than mine can u pls share camera some settings... sir..
Thanks so much! I made a series of videos that show my settings. You can view them here:

Hi mark.. great video. Its motivating very much. How do you thing the combination with D7200 with nikon 200-500?. Planning to get one for wild life shoot.
Thanks. Im sure the 200-500 will work just fine with the d7200. I haven't used the combo myself. Perhaps another viewer can chime in.
Mark tat was a wonderful day for you but I think it could be much better...next time invite me I'm so wonderfull too ! Keep smiling
hey Mark great video... are these shots taken handheld? actually i am a little torn between Tamron G2 & the Nikon 200-500mm to pair up with d500.. any thoughts you would like to share. thanks.
Thanks! Yes, these are all handheld. I have shot the Nikon 200-500 at 1/100 handheld with great results. I suggest trying both lenses. That's what I did. I liked the results of the Nikon much better.
love to watch your videos and i njoy it.
Thanks!
is the nikon 200-500 better then the tampon 150-600 or sigma 150-600 ? im about to buy a lens in this focal range
Thank you. Was this video in early april or earlier in the year last year?
Thanks. This was 2017.
do you think there are baby birds there right now to late april? planning to drive to florida for ten days
NIce video Mark :) Keep sharing.. I would like to know the name of the place .
+Rudradeep Dutta Thanks. The location is viera wetlands
Maybe just "fly United" great images also!
I can't think of a single bird that mates in the air, but plenty have a mating dance that involves aerobatics.
Sir, its a great video. The images came out really razor sharp. I own a D7200 along with Nikkor 200-500mm lens. Is this a good combination for wild life/bird photography ?
Also I would like to know about the focus modes, focussing points to be selected and metering modes as well for bird photography.
I don't own a D7200 so I can't say but I would think this combo would be great for bird photography.
Mark Smith, can you please advise me regarding the focus modes, focussing points and metering modes essential for bird photography
I AF-C and group focus. I will also use single point as necessary. I generally stick with matrix metering and use exposure compensation when necessary. It really all depends on the situation. There is on one setup that works at all times.
Have you tried the Tamron 100-400mm lens? How doe sit compares to the Nikon 200-500?
No I haven't.
great movie :)
Thanks!
Nice videos you have going on. I have some pictures of some American Avocets that looks like they're dancing because of the fast shutter speed when they where really fighting over a female American Avocet.
Thanks. Fast shutter speeds really make for interesting images.
I love this lens too. I just wish I had a better camera body for this lens. My D7100 doesn't allow it to come up to it's full potential.
It is a great lens! Have you thought about the D500?
I would love to get one, but being disabled, that dream is not likely to become a reality. lol A bit rich for my blood I'm afraid.
Maybe some day.
I bought the 200 - 500 Nikon - I use it with the D850. In some settings I keep getting err messages and the shutter speed goes to 8000 then focus stops. I wonder if anyone had similar issues.
I have not but that doesn't sound right.
WOWOWOWOOWOWOWOWOOW
I noticed your at -0.3 step '' is that after post or on board setting? I am thinking on buying the 200-500 Nikkor I shoot in the Florida everglades , flat land and more sun that i need so I am not concerned with the 5.6 just need better glass and more zoom .
+sergio ramiro the exposure compensation is on board. The 200 500 works quite well at f5.6.
Mark or anyone, I have a question about my D500 that is really bugging me. When I look at the review screen I have gotten myself into a screen with a very small picture and lots of info around it. I don't know how I got it into this setting and CERTAINLY don't know how to get out of it. Help.
I wanna do this when i leave the army and get into photography. Go bird watching
Also, the D850 requires far more precision. The D500 is less forgiving in that sense and captures more keepers in my opinion.
Thanks, I am leaning toward the d500.
If the 7d mark iii is a let down I'm thinking of jumping to the D500/200-500 combo too.
Do you took those pictures hand hald or on tripod/monopod? :)
did you shoot at 1080p or sample down from 4K?
Sampled down from 4K.
thanks for that Mark. It's very clear on this side of the planet ( Australia )
thanks mate, very helpful.
That should be capable of some killer video at 4k full frame.
agreed. Save up eh
Thanks!!
I'm not sure in that price range. Maybe someone else will have suggestions. The cheapest long telephoto is going to cost around $850.
Mark Smith What lens would that be if you don't mind me asking
Sigma makes a 150-600 contemporary lens for right around $850. I hear it is excellent. I own the Tamron 150-600 version 1. It is around the same price and a good lens for the money.
Sir I already have d750 but considering buy d7100 for wildlife due to crop factor with 200-500mm, should I go for it
+Sunit Sharma The d750 has a crop mode i believe. Why not try it first?
How many focus points were you using? Single, 27 or 9?
None of the above. I use group focus mostly. I made a few videos showing how I set up the D500 and how I use it.
ua-cam.com/play/PLwmt8qwjXqIficY71Q3jdyxqzTaZlryG8.html
Hello excellent proof, what is the location of that place? Thank you very much
This was shot at Viera Wetlands.
Would like to know how was the lens overall af tracking especially while track the bird at mid flight?
Once focus is locked, it rarely looses it. I have had no issues tracking multiple birds in flight. The only problems come from my own errors.
Great... Mind me asking What was ur hit rate for tack sharp image just say 10 consecutive burst?
That's a tough one because there are so many variables but I have had 10 shots in one burst and all of them are tack sharp. The worst case would be 50%. I would say a solid 80% on average when lighting is good. That's the real important part. I try to do all of my stuff during those sweet golden hours when the light is just right.
Great info there... I think i get a rough picture of that u meant. Thanks for the info and sharing experience. Btw great pictures too 👍
Thanks for the compliments and you are welcome!
is the 70-200mm range lenses good for wildlife? i feel like 200mm is just not enough for wildlife
I don't think that 200 is enough. There are times when 500 isn't enough.
but they say it's very versatile. I am planning to buy a lens for wildlife. what's your suggestion
My favorite is the Nikon 200-500mm. My copy is outstanding.
thanks.
You are very welcome.
